My stay was disappointing overall.
Pros:
- good location
- beautiful historical building
- newly renovated rooms
- rooms were very clean
Cons:
- ridiculously noisy and had trouble sleeping even with earplugs. Construction noise from nearby (ok not their fault), but poor soundproofing from everywhere (both from the street and within the hotel). There are big gaps below the door also which do not help and I heard numerous conversations in a variety of languages as though they were in my room.
- sadly they did not upgrade the reception staff when they renovated. They were efficient but not friendly at all (no hello on check in and not even a thank you on departure. They said "passport" and "500 for key deposit". Felt like I was at Thai customs. The land of smiles stops the hotel entrance.
- pool has no real sunloungers and hardly any sun. It's nice but mainly for show
- smoking area next to my room made me feel like I had started smoking again and I smelled the smoke constantly.
- no restaurant and not even a small packet of Nescafé coffee for the morning.
Hotel is beautiful and worth a visit, but sadly not worth staying in. My favorite part of the stay was leaving.
