We love everything about this hotel!

Posted Apr 4, 2014
Pros: The great peaceful location, the wonderful welcoming and happy staff, from the General Manager, chefs, waiting staff & gardeners.
Location: Being surrounded by tropical vegetation, green monkeys, birds and all this not far from beautiful beaches and local towns, make an ideal holiday spot
We had a wonderful stay at the SCC. Not only is the setting perfect - lovely buildings in a well-maintained garden - but it is also small enough to enable guests and staff to get to know one another. It was full when we were there. However, with a maximum of 90 guests and no children, it never felt crowded and was always peaceful.

Nice quiet friendly hotel

Posted Mar 31, 2014
Well laid out hotel. Friendly staff nice pool and plenty of shaded areas to sit. Spa was excellent. Breakfast was an excellent buffet style with freshly cooked omelettes however we booked in for dinner as we were tired after long trip and we're very dissappointed with what we received. Not the culinary delight we were led to expect. That aside everything else good

Sugar cane hotel Barbados

Posted Feb 22, 2014
Pros: Would not stay there again.
Cons: An update of rooms and public rooms
Location: Not much but again it seemed to suit the quests that came back every year.
The hotel is very tired. Beautiful grounds and well kept. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Could do with an update but seems to suit the quests we saw.

Beautiful, relaxing setting, very welcoming

Posted Feb 20, 2014
Pros: Friendly, honest staff. Beautiful setting, well-cared for gardens and a gully walk. Lovely apartments to stay in, great pool, relaxing atmosphere.
Cons: More variety in the menu and lighter, cheaper options would've been appreciated. Christmas meal was ok but New Years Eve was expensive as we expected.
Location: Harrisons Cave and and St Nicholas Abbey were must-dos for us. Free swimming with turtles trip provided by the hotel was excellent fun.
Sugar Cane is a set in a peaceful location, a bit of a walk from the beach, but transport is provided as well as sun loungers when you reach the beach. It is worth being away from the coast for a superbly relaxing stay amidst lush and well-cared for gardens. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, we forgot to close our safe two days in a row but nothing was touched and we thanked the management for their honest and reliable staff. They were also very good in arranging excellent value car hire before we arrived on the island. Everyone else staying was all-inclusive but that option was not available on the website we booked through unfortunately. We did find it a bit expensive, and the menu was repetitive but having a kitchenette meant we not only had the option of cooking, but that we could sample the (limited) delights of Jordans supermarket in Speightstown. I would certainly like to visit again but Barbados is expensive as most things have to be imported. I would love to stay at Sugar Cane again, it was a beautiful place to unwind and we met some lovely people. We enjoyed having a jeep to see more of the island as it is a very interesting and scenic place and Sugar Cane staff were very good at helping us plan our days out. There are a number of wonderful restaurants to try (like Juma's in Speightstown) and amazing scenery along the east coast. Swimming with turtles is a must and a great free excursion courtesy of the hotel. Thank you Sugar Cane

Tranquil retreat to chill out. Beach 30 min walk.

Posted Nov 29, 2013
Pros: Good food, excellent rum punches, friendly staff and tranquil location.
Location: Within walking distance of a good beach (30 min). Lots of opportunity for excursions if desired.
My wife and I had a lovely relaxing time here. The staff are excellent, friendly, attentive, and well managed. The facilities are good and even our standard room was spacious plus sitting room and patio overlooking the garden/tropical trees and plants. The food was delicious and well presented and the fish especially was beautifully cooked. Highly recommended.

Very nice hotel with a 5 minute shuttle to beach

Posted Aug 29, 2013
Pros: A forest reserve encompasses the beautiful resort terrain. Ronald, the gardener took me on a short tour where i witnessed green monkeys, birds, rooste
Cons: My only disappointment was the spa. Although the Spa Director was accommodating and facilitated planning several treatments; the selected masseuse la
Location: shuttle access and beach near by. Near Holetown where there is a supermarket, restaurants and art gallery.
i stayed at the Sugar Cane Club Resort as a single traveler for five days. The weather was hot, sunny and breezy with a couple of 5 minute showers to cool off the sun's rays. The staff values professionalism and stake their reputation on courtesy and consumer-friendliness. Chef, David's cuisine was delightful; each meal was well-prepared, planned and ample. I had not reserved for an all-inclusive but after flavoring several meals, i chose to. Although i traveled alone, resort guests were welcoming but islanders were respectful. FYI, to avoid a costly taxi ride ($50-60+) there is $2 bus availability at the airport going to Holetown terminal, near the resort for taxi $5. Possibly you can arrange and schedule the resort shuttle driver to pick you up at the terminal. The bus ride is an hour & 15 minutes (taxi is at least 45 minutes). Bus can be a shorter ride if you choose to take 2 buses. i accessed a taxi from the airport to the resort but leaving, i took a bus to the airport. Without any doubt I look forward to re-visiting sunny Barbados again!

Great hotel with lovely gardens and bajan feel

Posted Jul 21, 2013
Pros: Gardens, staff and green monkeys
Cons: Not on the beach, 15 min walk but courtesy bus provided
Location: Great location, only hotel up off the coast benefiting from trade breezes and lush gardens
Sugar Cane Club is a little off the coast by Speightstown in the north of the island, but benefits as a result from lush gardens, a real caribbean experience (it is Bajan family owned by the island's Sun Group) and ocean views. Some of the local residents in the hotel's gully include Barbados green monkeys who enjoyed the ripe mangos by the hotel gallery while we were there. The hotel has a nice pool area and in July is very relaxing and relaxed. As Expedia VIPs we also benefited from a lovely room with sea view, free breakfast and in room drinks and also experienced the hotel's glass bottomed boat to swim with the turtle on the west coast and a full gully tour led by the local born head gardener. The staff generally are lovely in the hotel and also in their related businesses like the car hire company and tour / taxi company. A really nice hotel altogether, highly recommended.

Wonderful

Posted Jun 10, 2013
Pros: The view, the pool, the room, and privacy
Cons: Some of the staff could have been a little more friendly, but it's not a deal breaker.
Absolute paradise and perfect for a honeymoon! The rooms and view were amazing. The staff for the most part were extremely nice and hospitable. The food was ok (I wouldn't do the all inclusive, since there are so many great places to eat in Barbados, anyway). Sugar Cane Club is set away from the hustle and bustle of Speightstown, but it's close enough to transit and the surrounding parishes. I would definitely go again!
