PROS:
-Inexpensive
-in Berlin Mitte, also close to Kreuzberg
-24 hour reception and friendly staff
-Beds were comfortable if squeaky
-Nice sitting room with couches, TV, big windows
-lockers in the rooms, just have to bring a lock
-Private locking showers
-Lots of extra services available, like a diner, bike rental, pub crawl
CONS:
-WiFi was often REALLY SLOW, to the point of being unusable. And I am talking using regular websites, forget Skype
-Kitchen was pretty dirty, fridge was not very big, no markers to label food, no bowls (I ate my cereal from a mug)
-In my room there was not enough plugs, 4 for the whole room of 8 people, since one by the door didn't work (I didn't know this until I woke up to a dead phone).
-Some cleanliness issues, they didn't change the garbage in my room until my last day (I stayed 4 nights), showers and sinks had hair and such. Also the tables in the front sitting room where dirty.
-Two of the shower head holders were broken, so you have to shower while holding the wand (difficult to wash hair). Also there are large windows in the WC and shower room, I felt like people could look in.
-Some kind of nightclub or event centre right next door, which was pretty loud late into the night. Luckily I am a deep sleeper, but I can see this being an issue for people.
Overall I think this hostel was fine, I just wanted a cheap, central place. It could use some improvements, and I’d consider staying there again if the Wifi were only better.
