Always Great
Always a lovely welcome here, comfy, warm, with stunning views and great breakfast. Location is excellent for the North Devon beaches and North Cornwall coast. Hard to beat.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Riverside. Spotlessly clean. Perfect hosts. Excellent food. Fabulous views over the river. Although it's beside a main road, that is not really a downside as you're not conscious of this. You should be aware that they charge the full cost of the stay a few days before you arrive, not as published on Expedia.

The property was located on the banks of the river with the dining-room and one of our bedroom windows over looking the river which was beautiful and quiet. The otherside of the house was on a busy main "A" road so a bedroom on that side would not be desirable. The hosts were very welcoming and provided excellent service with a smile. . the garden was outstanding.

Perfect stay for peace and quiet so relaxing
Wonderful hosts a truly relaxing atmosphere and great food the views were amazing we stayed in the courtyard room a bit small but very comfortable next time we stay we will book a larger room. Parking is excellent and easy to get too. We would definitely stay again. Great value for the money.

Don;t stay anywhere else
A repeat visit as our previous stay was so delightful. There is so much to admire. The warmth of the hosts. The well equipped rooms. The thoughtful touches such as the honesty drinks box. The stunning views. The beautitful breakfast, with very local produce.

Lovely setting beside the river
Lovely setting beside the river just outside Bideford, with good access to tourist destinations. Hosts were very friendly and accommodating. Car parking is available on site.

Superb holiday accommodation.
We thoroughly enjoyed our wonderful 5 night stay at Riverside. Simon and Donna are exceptional hosts, nothing was too much trouble for them and they made us feel most welcome and genuinely wanted to please their guests. The food was top quality and delicious and everything about the house was top quality.

Perfect location, wonderful views, great service!
Beautiful location, perfect for Tarka trail - walk to Instow beach was fantastic. Also great to use the free kayaks - so peaceful further down the river. The service was amazing - owners were helpful and kind. Food was some of the best we've had in years! And what a view! We also loved all the animals - especially the dogs and the donkey.

My wife and I had an amazing stay. Donna and Simon were very friendly and helpful. We couldn't of asked for more. The animals and the kayaking were and added bonus to a spectacular place. It was so good we stayed an extra night!

Donna and Simon made us very welcome. The view from the balcony room was beautiful. Watching the tide rise and fall on the river was mesmerising. Breakfast was lovely. The only downside to the whole experience was not Donna and Simon's fault, and this was that Bideford doesn't offer many places to go and have an evening meal. A great stay thanks. X

What a wonderful,homely guesthouse.
Very friendly & comfortable stay(3 nights)-felt like part of the family.Tidal riverside location on outskirtsof Bideford .Various animals(ie.miniature donkey;goats;chickens;muskovy duck;2 dogs)Wonderful english breakfast with bacon & sausages from own pigs & eggs from own freerange hens.Simon &Donna are marvellous hosts.We will definately return in the near future.

Convenient location
Riverside Cottage Guest House is in a great location for exploring Bideford and taking a trip to Lundy. It is however situated on quite a busy road. We stayed in the courtyard room which is closest the road. We would have been better to have booked one of the others. Donna made us a great packed lunch for Lundy at a great price and also provided us with an early breakfast. We would definitely stay again.

A relaxing food heaven.
Hosts Donna and Simon are natural, relaxed and very friendly. Donna's breakfast preparation and presentation skills are excellent, whilst the bacon, sausage and eggs are from their own smallholding which Simon tends every day. Watch out for extra tasty treats following Donna's baking sessions. Best meal out was at 'Country Cousins Restaurant', Westward Ho!

Perfect hotel with gorgeous views
The owners Simon & Donna make this hotel feel like an extension of their home from the minute they greet you, their hotel is in a stunning location overlooking the river & is beautifully furnished throughout. The breakfast offered was lovely, with homemade bread & preserves & also home reared bacon & sausage - a great start to the day. It is ideally suited for exploring this beautiful area of Devon. Definitely recommend & hope to return again one day

a dream stay
great friendly hosts who couldnt do enough for us. they even gave us a free upgrade to the kingsize balcony room. food was great and the rooms and views were amazing. i would recommend this place to stay to everyone

Nice river, pity about the road
We stayed in the apartment of the riverside cottage. It was self catering so I cannot speak for any of the food services that were offered. The apartment was exceptinally clean, modern and well presented and Donna and Simon were very welcoming. The view from the river was beautiful and it was an amazing experience to look over it whilst eating. The only draw back was that there was only enough hot water for one shower. This was a bit annoying but Donna aplogised and assured me when leaving that they were going to look into it. Another thing that can't be helped is the noise from the road behind the aprtment which slightly spoils the isolated impression you get when looking out towards the river. The road was agin a bit of a problem when walking along the tarka trail on the way to Instow. It's hard to feel that you are getting away from it all when there are cars zipping past you at 50-60 mph every 30 seconds. I imagine there are nicer stretches of the trail and in the welcome pack Donna and Simon reccomend heading towards Torrington, which I imagine is a nicer stretch. Unmanagable problems aside Donna and Simon have an incredibly cosy, well maintained get away over looking a beautiful river

A great place to stay
Riverside Cottage is a lovely place to stay - squeaky clean, super outlook, scrumptious breakfast and superb friendly, helpful hosts. It made the perfect base for our visit to north Devon. Will recommend to friends and will come again if we're back in the area.

Warm reception from Donna beautifully appointed room and bathroom with lovely views over the river. Delicious breakfast and would certainly recommend to friends. Lemon cake on arrival was a nice and very yummy touch.

Fabulous B&B
The outstanding setting for this most comfortable and friendly B&B is only surpassed by the welcome by Simon and Donna. Staying here is relaxed but luxurious. Two nights could easily have become a week had we planned for more time. I recommend this place for all the things that make staying away enjoyable - home comforts, friendship and a relaxed atmosphere.

A quiet haven after a long drive
A warm welcome on arrival. Lovely house with gorgeous dogs and other animals. Room was basic but bathroom was spacious. No soap in shower. Great advise on where to go for dinner. Good breakfast served next morning. Would highly recommend.
