Cold room and not very welcoming staff

Posted Apr 30, 2015
We stayed there as it is close to the New street train station. The hotel room look very used and in need of makeover. Hotel staff not very friendly. Our room was cold and the window wasn't closing properly. I wouldn't reccommend.

Centrally located, in easy reach of facilities.

Posted Apr 13, 2015
Pros: Its convenient location. The reading lights at the side of the bed were bright enough to see by !
Cons: It is looking tired and dated - although no worse that the last Travelodge I stayed at which was twice the price !
Location: Busy area - within easy walking distance of lots of attractions - probably shops too but that wasn't what I was there for.
I needed an affordable overnight stay which was convenient for the railway station, galleries and library. This ticked the boxes.

Nostalgic mishap

Posted Apr 8, 2015
Pros: Absolutely nothing!
Cons: Where do you start - its grotty.
Location: It is central
I booked this hotel as a trip down memory lane. As a student in the 1980s I saw business men (they were primarily male back then) going in/out of this hotel - hence it must have been good. Well it has definitely seen better days - AVOID.

Value for money but not clean.

Posted Apr 5, 2015
We stayed in this hotel for one night as we were going to a concert. One of the things we did like was the Location as it was right on the high street. However, when we got there the bathroom in particular wasn't in the best condition as the bathtub mat was along the side of the bathub opposed to inside of it and had hair on it as well as hair inside the tub. The rest of the room was to a clean standard but in terms of comfort the bed was a bit hard and the matress didn't have a cover over it. In terms of hotel staff, when we got to the hotel there were numerous people who had booking problems through ther third party service and it appeared that they could have been more hospitable to them than they were. However, our minimal experiences with the staff were that they seemed to be pleasant enough. Overall, considering the price, its location and the fact that we only stayed for a night it could have been worse.

Alles andere war in Punkto Sauberkeit i.O.

Very dated!

Posted Apr 3, 2015
Pros: Close to all amenities
Cons: Desperately needs to be renovated.
Location: Close to New Street Rail station and Bullring.va
Needs modernising. Probably a very upmarket hotel in its day but not anymore. On the plus side its close to the railway station, shops and bullring. It was ok for one night though!

Grim but Convenient

Posted Mar 26, 2015
Pros: It is close to the station.
Cons: Internet throughout and/or a greater selection of TV (even freeview would be nice)
The hotel, I have discovered, doesn't have a great reputation locally. The room was just about clean (barring a few stains in the carpets), the whole hotel had a generally tired feeling. There was only wifi in the lobby not the rest of the building and with only 5 channels on the tv (no freeview) in the room entertainment was scarce. I would say that the only reason to stay is for how close it is to the station and even then I would (and will) try to find somewhere else first.

Good prices and even had a smoking room so we didn't have to go downstairs to have a cigarette after our night out

Terrible hotel

Posted Mar 17, 2015
Overall experience was terrible!!! Bathroom hasn't been clean as I could see the soap on the bath, carpet was dirty, tv stopped working after half an hour, no wifi access and reception didn't answer the phone even once when I was trying to call them! Avoid this place!

Basic, dated (80s) but well located hotel.

Posted Mar 13, 2015
Pros: Great location in a nice building. Fairly cheap compared with some others
Cons: Spend some money on painting, fixing and jazzing up the building and please buy some decent comfortable beds.
Location: Shops and main station are on the door step.
This could be a lovely hotel if they spent money on it. Looks starved of investment, needing better beds, a lick of paint and the nice features of the building should be better displayed or made something of. When I arrived the lights didn't work in the room and others queued due to same or other maintenance issues.
