Hi Kevin, Thank you for your honest review. We take comments and suggestions from our guests very seriously and we will reevaluate the items in our kitchen. Unfortunately, some items do seem to walk away, brake or just get lost and we as host are simply unaware. When you have 4 hours to turn a cabin around between guest stays, one sometimes run short of inventories kitchen items. We’ll try and get better at this. Concerning the upstairs bedroom situation. You are correct, a guest cannot get downstairs from the 2nd bedroom without going through the first upstairs bedroom. I think the online photos of the bedrooms do show this but we can certainly update our description to make this a bit more clear. Sorry the eclipse was on a not too sunny day but the darkness did occur for 4 minutes and that itself was a pretty cool experience. We hope that you’ll consider joining us again in the near future. Hi George, We are truly sorry that you experienced so many issues with us during your stay. We work hard so that these things don't happen but unfortunately, from time to time, Murphy's law rears its ugly head and I think this was a bit of what occurred during your stay. First, you are correct concerning any numbers at night. The reflective numbers on the driveway post came off during a recent storm and we were unaware of this until your post. New ones have been installed and secured with screws. Secondly, I need to update the notice on the refrigerator concerning the water. A new line was recently installed and that stirred up to sediment in the bottom of the well which then plugged the screens going to the faucets and toilet. Cleaning out these screens takes less than 5 minutes, if we'd known sooner, I could have had maintenance address the issue during your stay. Concerning access to the upstairs bedroom. There are hand railing and the stairs are not that steep. Photos of the stairs are posted in our listing and you are the first guests or ours whom had an issues getting in to the two upstairs bedrooms. Concerning the use of Roku, frankly I don't like it much either but this is how the internet and TV is accessed in 2023. If we had a satellite system such as DISH Network, we would be unable to keep the price of our cabin so much lower than our competitors. If we'd know that you were having issues, we'd have been more than happy to have given you a in service on Roku usage. Two days after your stay was over, other guests rented the cabin, and stayed the weekend and they left a 5 star review. I agree we somewhat let you down during your stay and we've already corrected items that were our fault but we don't believe a 1 star review was warranted. A 3 or 4 star rating yes, but 1 is pretty extreme. We hope your next visit to the Finger Lakes region is a better one. Gary and Dawn

Shane, Many thanks for taking the time to leave us a a detailed live review of your stay. We are sorry you weren't satisfied with your stay, especially regarding the road conditions. We did mention in our Welcome Guide, the conditions of the rural roads especially in the Spring, Fall and winter months. As mentioned in the Welcome Guide, these roads are gravel, not paved, so they can be muddy at times. Unfortunately, we have no control of the road conditions or the weather. In terms of the lighting in the kitchen and bathroom, we are not sure what the issues were. If a bulb blew, etc., you could have contacted us, and we would have made arrangements to replace the bulb(s). Nevertheless, we will have our maintenance crew check the lighting in those rooms, and address any issues. We are very sorry about the cobweb issue~ this was obviously overlooked during cleaning; and is not acceptable. We will address this with our cleaning staff immediately. Gary and I work very hard to make sure all of our cabin descriptions are as accurate and update to date as possible for our guests; including addressing of road conditions, water quality, etc. These are very important details that vacationers should be aware of. These type of details are what we ourselves look for when searching for a vacation destination. With respect to the décor, we want our guests to feel welcome and right at home in our cabins. So we try and think of the amenities that we would want; as well as an inviting style of décor that all guests would feel comfortable staying in. Our goal is to provide a wonderful stress free experience from the time guests book their trip, through to the check out process. That is what taking a vacation should be all about. Hello Charles, Thank you for your honest review. We are so glad that you enjoyed our cabin and apologize for not meeting all your expectations. This was an oversight on our part! Concerning the temperature of the upstairs bedrooms. Earlier this spring we had several large limbs removed from the oak tree next to the cabin. These limbs were over the roof line and provided a large amount of shade to the cabin. Therefore, we placed a fan on top of the washing machine in years passed to blow cold air upstairs and it seemed to work well. However, with the large portion of limbs removed, the summer sun is more exposed to the cabin. We should have recognized this. After your review, we purchased another air conditioner and installed it in the upstairs. There is now a unit upstairs and one downstairs so this should resolve any issues with uncomfortable heat moving forward. Concerning the acreage. About 1 acre of the property is in the hay field behind the cabin,. It’s still assessable but just not mowed as a yard. Taxes in NY are very high so if property can be used for agricultural purposes, it saves us money instead of paying NYS. Lastly, the cabin is in a rural, agricultural setting, which we have highlighted on the web, and not tried to hide in anyway. Our cabins do provide a lot of peace and quite but are conveniently located between two of the cleanest and most beautiful fresh water lakes in the east. Our guests have access to hiking, wineries, skiing, boating, fishing, shopping for antiques, and fine restaurants, among a host of other things within just minutes. Putting all these things together, we think our cabins are in the perfect location. We do hope that you visit us again. Gary and Dawn

Gary and I do our best to go above and beyond the norm and raise the bar higher, in order for our guests to enjoy a relaxing and enjoyable experience; and have as many amenities as possible so our guests have no worries of having to run to the store, etc. We try to put ourselves in our guests shoes when we designed/outfitted these cabins. Not sure if there’s anything we can do to lessen the noise but we’ll look into it. In terms of the condition of the roads, yes these are rural country roads as mentioned in the details on the site; so they tend to be rough, which is something we have no control over. We are at the mercy of the town to periodically improve the conditions. There is no shortage of various wildlife in this area, as we also mentioned in the property details. Gary and I do our best to make sure our guests have all the amenities needed to make their stay enjoyable and stress free, from check in time to checking out. Enjoy your summer. Hi Susan, Thank you so much for your review. We are sorry that we were unable to meet your expectations, several things you listed are valid and need to be addressed. Unfortunately, life just got in the way. We were working on the parking and other items outside but was unable to complete the task by your stay due to a water leak emergency at our home 45 minutes away. It ruined parts or our kitchen ceiling and hard wood floors. I had to leave the cabin quickly and just was unable to get back before your stay to pick up things. I'm sorry that the kitchen chairs and couches are uncomfortable. We'll look in to this but I think you may be the first guest to mention this in a review. As humans, I guess some of us like harder furniture and others softer. You are correct, the photos show outdoor furniture and I apologize that this wasn't taken out of storage yet. We get wild temperature swings in the NE and although the days during your stay were pleasant, just before your arrival two days earlier, we had an inch of snow, sleet and temps in the low 30's. The same with the screens, they haven't been put in the cabin from storage. Concerning the mice and ants. This hasn't been an issue for us in the past. The cabin has pest control in place as well as insect control. It is a cabin in the woods. However, the pest company has not treated the cabin for the 1st time this year. We are on their schedule and therefore, apologize this was an issue during your stay. Unfortunately, the spring and fall are the times small breaches of our pest control program do occur. That is just part of a rural setting but we do take this issue very seriously. Antenna's work on some days and not on others. This depends on the weather and cloudiness, storms etc. You are correct, both TV's upstairs are on an antenna. We have a Roku stick on the downstairs TV so that no matter the weather, our guests can still see whats going on in the world. I'm surprised to hear about the furnace being noisy, its just over a year old. I'll have to have maintenance stop in and see if all is OK. Rest assured, we'll make some changes based on your recommendations and hope you'll stay with us again some day, either at "Home, Home on the Range" or our other cabins, "Fox in the Henhouse or The Green, Green Grass of Home".
