It is a lovely hotel/chateau with fantastic hosts. It's in a good location, close to all amenities (I did have a car) and free parking. It was clean and exceptionally comfortable and will be my go-to hotel when I am visiting family and friends in the area. We stayed on the first floor and there was no lift and the bedroom was duplex with stairs to the bedroom. I loved it but factor this in if you don't want to navigate stairs.

Would be very room with improvements
Unless you are handicapped, don't stay in the room Sagesse. Totally off-the-wall setup. Also, hotels need to be more considerate toward bathroom lighting. It's difficult to shave or apply makeup in the dark!

Madam, I’m sorry to read your comment and your note, but we think my team and I think your words are almost inappropriate. Indeed, your reservation does not indicate that you could not go upstairs, we have found you a room in RDC (in August not obvious) and say that the bathroom is in the dark it is totally necessary, modern lighting and standards 4*****. In addition, this bathroom holds 2 80cm x 200cm windows and the sunrise was that day at 06:30. We struggle for our customers every day and reading this type of text too easy...deserves an answer to discredit some comments. Most cordially The Directorate

The hotel is in a residential area and is a modern refurb of an old chateau. Although the hotel was empty, we were put in rooms in the new part. In one room the bed was on the messanine layer. 32C even with the aircon on. After complaining they eventually moved us. No room for guests in the restaurant even though we arrived early. Staff levels low and we couldn’t access the hotel when we arrived at 1pm even to sit in the common rooms until ours were ready at 3pm. We had to go into town.

Beautiful hotel.
The hotel is fantastic. Room was very tasteful. Loved it. Minute downside was that it is a fair walk into the centre of the area and when we decided to get a taxi back after a meal it cost 14euros to get back. I must stress that the hotel itself and the staff etc are impeccable. Be prepared for a walk though.

The staff were pleasant, but, the Hotel did not quite hit the mark for us considering the price. The black out curtains didn't quite fit the windows, the top of the tap in the bathroom fell off as it hadn't been tightened properly, there was not shower screen and the bath tap was just too short so sent water over the edge of the bath. Minor things that would not take too much to fix, but not quite as we would have expected for the cost.

Disappointing
Very disappointing stay as mezzanine room completely unsuitable for hot weather. Hotel has no amenities: gardens boring expanse of grass with small terrace; no pool; too far from town to walk; no dining facilities when we were there. WiFi is dreadful: very intermittent and therefore keeps cutting out. Staff however are excellent and do their best.

Castle without charm
The room was large enough with a weird bathroom setup: the bathtub with no curtain was positioned behing the bed. Washing produced a flood. The restrooms had no lock. The castle was beautiful but the outdoors miserable with a frontyard covered in asphalt. While the countryside was full of delicious and cheap charcuterie cheeses and produce the breakfast buffet solely comprised industrial products with no soul or flavor.

This is a 3 star and NOT a 4 star hotel
The major problem of this hotel is that it is located at a semi-rundown residential area. To be qualified for a 4 star, the surrounding area should be MUCH better. Furthermore, Brive (the city where this hotel is located) is not a pleasant town with a lot of run down areas and tourist should avoid this town!!

Dear Dave, We are very surprised about your comment concerning the surrounding area of the hotel and the town ! As a matter of fact, the hotel is located in a residential area but it is far from being rundown. Of course, you may not like Brive but once again, it is far from being rundown. There are planty of old classified buildings in the city center which is mainly pedestrian and most tourist really nejoy their visit. Concerning our hotel, we would like to inform that it was classified as a 4 star hotel by Atout France (the company in charge of hotel rating in France) in July 2017 and we assure you that our hotel matches all the requirements. SEJOUR PARFAIT
Nous avons passé 1 nuit très agréable, le site et la chambre sont magnifiques, la chambre est calme et très spacieuse. La décoration est soignée. L'accueil est parfait, nous avons été reçu avec le sourire et avec beaucoup d'attention. Petit dejeuner parfait et copieux, des produits frais et certains sont fait maison.

Die Toilettenspülung ging nach normaler Benutzung kaputt. Der Zuständige Mann von der Reception konnte sie nicht reparieren und wollte auch kein Fachmann hinzuziehen, weil zu teuer. Das Wasser lief die ganze Nacht und war laut. Wir mussten selber eine Lösung finden, um schlafen zu können. Als wir ihm die Situation auf Französisch und teileweise Englisch erklärten, sagte er: Sprechen Sie nicht Englisch mit mir! Sehr unfreundlich!!

Très bel hôtel bien situé accueil et confort optimal sauf dans le cooir sans chauffage. Seul bémol pas de restaurant dommage car en hiver manger froid dans sa chambre ce n'est pas génial Petit déjeuner correct mais un peu cher : pas de fruits secs, ni d' oléagineux. A recommander plus l'été

Arrivée inattendue dans ce château d’un autre temps. Difficile de se faire une idée compte tenu des conditions météo agitées qui n’éclairent pas l’édifice pour le rendre lumineux. Accueil très sympathique et les chambres sont arrangées avec goût.
