Fall time fun
First time on the east coast and we wanted to stay on the ocean. We found the cutest little bungalow with the best views at the Barnacle! The place was immaculate and had all the amenities. And it was far enough away from the hustle and bustle of the busier areas to make you feel like you were in your own little world. Although it took a small commute (30 minutes) to get to Acadia National Park it was worth the drive. The Blue Hill peninsula where the Barnacle is located is a great mixed drive through the countryside and ocean side. We saw lots of wildlife (deer, bobcat and a seal right out front!) We had an amazing experience at the Barnacle and wished we would’ve spent more time just relaxing there! But there is so much to see and do within a hour that we wanted to fit in as much as possible! It was the perfect base camp for us to rest and soak in the beauty of the surrounding area. Although we had a small glitch with our communication with the hosts it was remedied very quickly. They are wonderful people and truly love their property and ability to make sure you are taken care of well! I highly recommend staying there if you want a quiet getaway right on the water!

Heaven on Earth
The photos definitely do not do this property justice. The location is perfect for a "get away from it all" vacation. We reconnected with our boys by "unplugging" from technology and just enjoyed the raw beauty of Maine. The house has everything you could want, including all of the "little things" you may have forgotten to take with you. Our family loves "The Barnacle" and we look forward to returning in the near future! Thank you for sharing your home with us, and letting us know the history behind this treasure.

Great spot
The title says all that needs to be said. The kitchen was fully equipped, it was a pleasure to cook there. The cold well water tasted great, and the view was amazing. It’s a beautiful, quiet place to relax!

peaceful and relaxing
i feel the inside pictures of this house doesn’t do it justice. very cozy and nice inside. our family loved staying here. It was so fun to go down by the bay and look at shells and starfish. although it is a bit away from Acadia, i am so thankful we stayed here away from all the businesses of Acadia. we would definitely book here again.

Maine Getaway
Absolutely beautiful waterfront property. Private, peaceful and well-stocked to ensure that guests enjoy themselves. We took a family trip where my parents were able to spend time relaxing on the porches, my children explored the rocky shore and I was able to enjoy a little bit of both. Within an hour of Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park, plus close to a quaint small town with a nice gift shop, cafe and general store.

Gray Cottage
Cottage was rustic and quaint, was in a beautiful location. Only problem was a lack of a heat source….there was a fireplace and a space heater that didn’t put out much heat. We kept a fire going but they didn’t leave us much firewood, we ended up buying over $100 worth to last us the week. We contacted them and asked for more and they did, just not enough. The temperature never got lower than 50 but we’re from the South and that’s chilly for us. Other than staying warm we enjoyed the cottage and the area very much, it would be a great place to stay in warmer weather.

Barnacle on Flye Point is Magical
My husband and I shared the Barnacle with our son and his wife. The location is peaceful and beautiful. The house was very clean and neat. Amenities are well thought out. Each day we woke to the most amazing sunrises. The location is such fun and simply magical! I think I must have said 100 times that we were so lucky to be there.!

Fabulous Getaway
A perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Kitchen is well stocked, beds comfortable, very clean, and the view is gorgeous...we even had a few seals stop by to say hi in the bay. Cabin had bug spray, sun screen, and spices, left from other guests, so don't go shopping until you get there. Major grocery store about 20 minutes away. If we travel back through Maine we would definitely stay here again.

Perfect Maine Camp
Beautiful views and a lovely setting make this the perfect place for a getaway. The camp is comfortable and cozy and close to the water, and good walks and just it’s great to hang out on the deck. Just be a tiny bit patient for the well water to heat up - it will!

Great stay at Barnacle Cottage
Often when staying at someone else’s home, I wonder what I would do to make this more my own place. At Barnacle Cottage there was nothing I would change! It was in a breathtaking location (seeing Cadillac Mountain across the water), things were up to date and working well, and they seem to think of every possibility and met it (kitchen supplies and equipment, linens, even emergency toothbrushes and shampoo). We were surprised at how far away from Acadia and Bar Harbor it was (about an hour drive), I would recommend this location to anyone

Great Spot
This is an absolutely beautiful spot with a well-kept cabin. Spectacular sunrises and sunsets and a few seal sightings. The hot water in the main bathroom was a little quirky but we got the hang of it. We will definitely look for this listing again.

TERRIFIC VIEW
Wonderful Views! Lock box difficulties when we arrived to get key, but quickly got help from agency and owner by phone call. Cottage neat, clean and stocked as advertised, but couldn’t get heater in living room started. Hot water very long to come up in common shower (so all used master shower). VRBO ad said 19 miles to Bar Harbor, but found out the 19 miles as the crow flys, not road mileage! Well over an hour to get to Bar Harbor.... But, we would return to this cabin again. We could hear and smell the ocean every minute.
