Perfect little getaway!
Downtown Browntown was perfect for myself and my two kids. We loved the hot tub and Gary and Jackie were so kind and friendly, inviting us to join them for Easter cookout since no restaurants were open due to the Easter holiday. The place is conveniently located and a quick drive to Mammoth Cave and area attractions. The apartment is well maintained and fully equipped for cooking. We had a great time and would definitely stay again for our next trip to the national park!

Perfect entrance into Mammoth Cave NP
The pictures and description of the spot were accurate, and I liked being on the not as touristy (ie filled with shops) side of the National Park. We brought our dog, and while the sidewalks wasn't consistent for walking, the road wasn't too busy and we were able to pop down to the river easily.

Good for a quick trip!
This place is near Mammoth Caves, which is great is looking to adventure there! The owner was very kind and introduced us to his sweet dogs. The hot tub is technically shared, but privacy was given for only us to use it. The hot tub was very nice! The place has basic necessities and a kitchen. The washer and dryer is an added bonus!

Weekend getaway
This was a cute little apartment above the owners garage. Overall, the place was nice and the owner was nice. There was a few things there like a cob web on the ac in the kitchen that was so thick it looked like it had been there for months, hair in the shower drain, the shower door was broken, and lightbulbs out. When we first arrived the code did not work but the owner was quick to come up and allow us in. It was great for our weekend away to spend time at the cave and surrounding areas, but I would not stay there for a week. I was woken up 2/3 mornings by their garage door opening and closing and then kept awake by their dogs walking around their home on the other side of the door that connects to their upstairs. We were able to enjoy the hot tub one night, but it felt like we were constantly being watched by the husband either on the porch or he was watching us through the kitchen window. The second night, we couldnt go out there due to them having a get together around the fire, but honestly it was completely ok as we were cleaning up and packing up to come home in the morning. Overall great stay, just wish we would have had more of a sense of privacy and the few cleaning things taken care of.

Great stay - tight accommodations
My two brothers and I stay at Downtown Browntown for 3 nights while visiting the nearby Mammoth Caves. The space was clean and the AC worked well. We had pretty much everything we needed to cook meals in the kitchen. Our only complaint was the size and lack of space for the toilet - it would be tight for anyone but a small child, close to impossible for a large man. But we made it work. Other than that, everything was great!

Neat little place!
This place is exactly as advertised. Very clean, tons of little touches to make your stay more comfortable and hosts are friendly without being invasive. Literally my only complaint was lack of healthier food options but that’s if I’m being picky. Would 10 out of 10 stay here again!

Better than the pics!
Hosts were super nice! We took advantage of the hot tub (it was great, and very clean). The pics are accurate but also do not do justice to this cute place! We enjoyed the kitchen, the TV and the bed was super comfy and the futon couch was good too. The Wi-Fi is a bit slow.

Fabulous Hosts!
Gary and Jackie were outstanding hosts! The house was extremely clean and contained everything we needed for our stay, including marshmallow forks for smores! My husband, my mom and I stayed for the weekend, as we had planned to do hiking in the Red River Gorge area and hit up Mammoth Cave. The house was just a short 20 minute drive to the National Park, which was absolutely perfect! The hot tub was also a fabulous treat after our hiking adventures! Our Great Dane also had a great time playing with their beautiful dogs, Tango and Libby. We highly recommend PJ's Cafe for breakfast and Walden's for BBQ dinner if you're in the area! Thank you, again for a fabulous stay!

Quiet stay near Mammoth Cave
This property was perfect for our stay near Mammoth Cave. It is 2nd floor above the garage. Staircase railing is a little rickety, so not ideal if you require a lot of support on stairs, but fine. It is a small town with 1 grocery store and a few simple restaurants. We tried the Mexican place across the river and it was good and friendly (but no Margaritas). The town does not have a liquor store, so bring what you need. There was a full kitchen, stocked with microwave, toaster, toaster oven, coffee maker, keurig, and laundry in a pantry. There is a sofa with TV in a sitting room off the kitchen/dining. The bedroom was nice with a window and queen bed. The bathroom is in the bedroom and is a little tight, with a small shower, but everything was nice and in working order (the bathroom doorway is a curtain). Also, the door and wall in the bedroom is up against a room in the other part of the house, so you can hear some noise. We rolled up a towel and put it at the bottom of the door and closed the bedroom door at night and it helped. The hot tub in the yard was clean, nice, new, and wonderful! No smoky smell as in past reviews, but owner smokes cigars in the backyard with his 2 big dogs (check before you walk yours). The neighborhood has some houses well cared for and others seeming deserted, but we walked around at night and it was just quiet and nice. There is a river walkway just up the street perfect for dogwalking. The host was very accommodating with quick communication!

Great little place to stay when visiting Mammoth Cave
This place met our needs for our long weekend at Mammoth Cave. It was clean and pet friendly. The owners were so kind and helpful when we saw them outside. The bathroom is very small and there is only a curtain between it and the bedroom, but that was the only downfall. It was a great stay for the price, especially since we could bring our dog with us!

Don’t stay here if you value privacy
This was the weirdest experience I have ever had at an air B and B. This unit is attached to the home owners living space they can hear everyone word you say I told my son he was going to have to sleep on the air mattress bc I couldn’t figure out how to fold down the futon and the owner text within moments giving instructions for that which was very concerning (I messaged her two days before we got there and she didn’t reply to that message at all). When we first pulled up there were two men working on a car and drinking and smoking at the detached garage they were this was our welcome greet. I went into the unit it was clean although there was an odd smell. The hot tub is advertised as a shared space they didn’t come out for the whole 10 min I tried to use it but the chlorine was so strong it made me cough and I looked up and the gentleman owner was in the kitchen window which made me uncomfortable and I got out. I stayed on New Year’s Eve on my way to visit my sister and the owner text at 1:45 in the morning bc my teenage children were still awake and laughing and talking and apparently her bedroom is on the other side of the only bedroom in the unit and she said she had to work the next day and needed to sleep. This entire stay was so odd. I was so uncomfortable I packed our stuff up and left at 2am drove the rest of the way to my sisters through the densest fog I’ve ever seen in my life and taking a huge risk traveling on a holiday when drunk drivers are also a concern. She partially refunded my stay but I left this review anyways bc they need to rethink their set up/advertise that the hot tub is not the only shared space and renters need to be aware of the privacy issue.

We had a very nice visit. Jackie & Gary we’re awesome hosts. The property was just as listed. We came to town to hike in Mammoth Cave NP & take in a Bourbon Tour. In addition. we visited Nolin Lake State Park & Nolin Dam at our host’s suggestion. The apartment is very near to all of these attractions. We thoroughly enjoyed our trip to KY & will definitely visit again. Bill & Brenda
