Wonderful employees !!
Basic clean rooms, nothing special but nice and simple !! All people working there were helpful and wonderful !! Breakfast was OK. Think I might have been the only one staying at the hotel so the breakfast was quite simple. Continental including eggs / sausage / bacon.

It was kinda OK...on the bright side - bathroom is very spacious, convenient and bright and parking is on sight (room for 4 cars). Room is OK. We booked a room + bfast and showed the hotel it is included in our reservation but the hotel showed me the reservation they received and it didn't have breakfast... Pool is almost forced into the back yard, was dirty and not inviting but anyways was too cold to use it. The electricity outlets in the room didn't work so no coffee and charging phones...not sure what was wrong. Anyways - we spent less than 12 hours and continued. Wasn't a disaster and price was fair.

Thank you for taking time to give us a review. Whilst you were here we double checked the rate you booked and it clearly showed that it was a highly discounted room only rate that did not include breakfast. Breakfast was offered to you at an additional small cost. We’re confused about your car park comment, our car park has 6 clearly marked parking spaces and often accommodates 6 cars. The weekend you stayed with us it was very wet and windy, as a result the heavy rain indeed made the pool uninviting however when the weather subsided the filtration got the pool clean and clear again. And we have been experiencing nice sunny days and the pool is clean and constantly in use. We also don’t quite understand your comments about the pool as we have an 8m long solar heated pool which occupies less than 25% of the garden and patio area. It is however true there was a power outage which tripped certain sockets and we apologise if it was an inconvenience. As soon as we realised it, it was restored.

A very private little stayover.
The quietness and privacy afforded during my 3 day stay was appreciated. The easy access to restaurants and the promenade made for very pleasant walks beside the ocean. The staff were friendly and caring and assisted with my requests courteously.

Great hotel!
The One 8 Hotel is such a lovely little find. Friendly and professional service from every single member of staff right from the moment we arrived. We booked the small ground floor room and contrary to other reviews on here, we found the room perfectly adequate for our needs. The only down side to this room in my opinion is the proximity to the reception area; on occasion you could hear other guest talking and socialising but it was nothing that would stop me booking again. The pool and hot tub were nice additions and a great way to unwind after a long day. I just want to finish by saying thank you once again for a lovely holiday and I very much hope to return to your hotel again in the near future.

Lovely hotel, great staff . Mosquitoes in room which despite reporting were an on going issue. Quite a long walk into centre necessitating use of cabs at night.

The hotel is very nice. We stayed only one night, but check-in and out was smooth, they held our luggage before check-in and after check-out and everything went well. The room if neat, comfortable, clean.

The fact that you did not have an elevator took a great deal of pleasure out of our stay and I would have to say l would not be back unless you put an elevator in.

We are a small boutique hotel with guest rooms on two floors and like many of the small buildings in Cape Town we do not have an elevator. However should you have raised your concerns with us we would have been able to offer you a room on the 1st floor.

Amazing hotel!
Great hotel for those looking a quiet and peaceful getaway and great location 10-15 min walk to the waterfront. staff are brilliant and very friendly! Food was great. Will definitely stay here again. Couldn't fault anything

The people are fantastic there, location good for getting around but not much nearby. The room was nothing special and very small. It worked since we didn’t have to be in the room much.

Wonderful & friendly staff, well located
It's a nice small, tucked-away hotel, yet within a 20-30 min. walking distance from the waterfront area. Very clean, the room is spacious and the staff are very friendly. They just don't have an elevator, that's the only thing...but the staff are more than willing to carry your bags up to your room.

Quiet and great location
We loved the hotel staff, pool, quite ambiance, and location of this small hotel. The room was clean (but small), the bed was very comfortable, and we had a nice view of the pool from the veranda. Capetown is suffering from a severe drought and we tried to save water, but the toilet was leaky and the plumbing could be improved. There was no screen on the patio door so we weren't able to get much fresh air. All in all, the room was a great value and we definitely enjoyed our stay and recommend it.

Great small and friendly hotel
Just had 3 nights at The One 8 following a safari and it is a great small and friendly hotel. All the staff were very helpful and friendly. The room was spacious with a very comfortable bed and the ensuite shower room was great too. The room had a balcony though the view is of other properties as the hotel is in a built-up area. However the room and balcony overlook the pleasant pool and garden area so we would have used the balcony if we'd had time. The hotel is within walking distance of Sea Point and Green Point and we walked to The Waterfront one day which was a lovely walk by the sea. If you're not very mobile the distance could be a problem but taxis are very reasonable and the hotel will book them for you. Also worth mentioning that the hotel does not have a lift though there are just 2 flights of stairs to the first floor. The breakfast was lovely with a good choice offered. Everywhere is very clean and well maintained. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would recommend the hotel.

One night at One8
The sign outside was missing, it had broken completely off. The door to street was secure. Staff were friendly. There is no lift so bags must be carried up staircase. The wifi didn't work in the room, we needed it to make plans with our friends and keep in touch with family in New Zealand so that was a problem. We asked about it but it wasn't resolved during out time there. We only stayed one night. The safe in room was locked so we couldn't use it, that wasn't resolved during our time. The bathroom and bed were very comfortable. There is no separate toilet. The breakfast was well laid out and included cook breakfast in needed. There are nice fish tanks.

The sign on our doors was indeed knocked by a delivery truck which had illegally mounted the kerb and we are doing our very best to have it replaced and put back up on the wall as soon as possible but obviously we guided by the sign people on how fast they can do the job. Regarding your safe we would have been happy to immediately unlock it for you had you notified us. We are sorry that you had problems with the WIFI but we get throttled during specific peak traffic times on a daily basis when any of our guests is downloading huge files as Cape Town WIFI follows the Fair User Policy guidelines and our WIFI is, should all our guests browse responsibly, accessible in all our guest rooms. Once again we thank you for your review and we hope you will stay with us again.

Great little boutique hotel. Hot tub requires a 4-5 hour advance notice for use. 10 minute walk to the Big Red (hop-on/hop-off) Bus, Greenpointe pick up location (just north of the lighthouse)

A nice hotel, friendly staff, good food and good value. The room was good overall though would have appreciated better pillows. Also the shower irritated as there is no door and the tiles were angled wrong so that the floor got soaked every time.

Boutique hotel a quick hop from city centre
The hotel had about 8 rooms, a private parking pad, private swimming pool and bar, ful l breakfast service, and great views from the rooms. The room was small, but had all the right amenities and layout. Would highly recommend to anyone that wants a relaxing retreat and that would probably Uber/taxi to and from the hotel location as opposed to expect to walk everywhere from the immediate location.

Hotel One Eight was a small hotel, clean rooms, very friendly and helpful staff. Room very comfortable, good size. Breakfast very tasty. Pool a bit smaller, but enough to relax. Hotel is about 10 minutes taxi ride from the tourist Waterfront area where is many restaurants to choose from.

Tucked away and close to the Stadium this 8 room hotel was quiet and relaxing. Good sized rooms and excellent breakfast served outside.The staff were all very pleasant and helpful.The V and A was a 40 minute walk along the seafront or 30 down the main road.No restaurant so either walk into Green Bay or the Hussar Grill and the Butchers Shop on the seafront. Beware of car park gates, a bit narrow depending on the size of your car.

Really fantastic hotel.
The hotel is a lovely small 8 room hotel that gives you a really personal service. The staff were exceptional, greeting you by name and making sure you felt taken care of, really enhanced our stay. Nothing seamed to be too much trouble, from helping to organise dinner bookings or trips, to breakfast. Hotel had a small pool and jacuzzi area, all very clean and lovely if you wanted to eat outside.

A safe, quiet and friendly hotel.
The One 8 Hotel is a great guesthouse which is located near to some great restaurants and bars. The staff are welcoming, friendly and very attentive. The room was spacious, light and comfortable (with air conditioning) and the staff were more than happy to help us with booking taxis, organising tours and trips and looking out for our general wellbeing. I highly recommend this hotel and will definitely stay there again.

Excellent Hotel near the water fron
The hotel was very nice. It's also extremely close to where the overlanding trucks pull in for their start/end which is useful if you're doing that. It's a short taxi ride from most of the main Cape Town sites.

Great place to stay
Had a very positive experience. Big, comfortable room. Nice staff, though one staff member was a little pushy about signing us up for tours. Otherwise, staff was very helpful with anything we needed, from cabs to ordering food. It's on a quiet street, close to the ocean and not too far from the things you'll want to do. There is a pool, but it's tiny and doesn't get a lot of sunlight on it. Breakfast was fantastic.

Regarding the amount of sunlight permeated to the pool area, June is the middle of winter in Cape town and hence there is not a lot of sunny days throughout the City but in the summer there is an abundance of sunlight around the pool area and it also helps a lot that it is facing the north.
