At first the hotel doesn't look too inviting, but it is a nice clean place to stay. The rooms are small, but the surprise is the very modern bathroom. We had a second floor and a view over the nice court yard. The parking is available, but only for 4 cars inside the court yard, but although the general description of the hotel states self parking available, it is at a cost. Also it says pet friendly and no mention of a cost for a pet, they charge 6 euros per night for the pet.
The hotel location is very good, just two blocks from Martel, which I recommend, and walking distance to Meukow, Otard and Hennessy The old castle entrance gate is preserved down at the river nest to Otard and Hennessy. There are many restaurants nearby, but you may pay 8.5 euros each for the hotel's breakfast that is rather meager - bread, croissant, yogurt, boiled egg and coffee. I skipped the hotel's offering, and for about 9 euros went to the patisserie a block away and got fresh pasties and coffee for two.
If you have an automobile, there are many, many independent Cognac Houses that produce only their Cognac, rather than the blends of the Major Houses. Remy-Martin and Martel apparently collect cognac from some of these independents and blend them to make much of their production.
Out of the several independents we visited one stood out as superior in all respects (my opinion). This is Cognac Pinearu Danjou in Goux. It is about 12 km from the hotel, difficult to find without a GPS.
