Excellent older home in Cheyenne Canon
If you are a hiker and/or biker, this home is for you. Cheyenne mountain trails and zoo is very close. Sacred Ground cafe is just .2 miles up from the house. This is an older home and as previous reviews state, the floors creak. Of course they do, the home has original wood flooring so there is a lot of creaking when walking but that did not bother me and my group. This home is very clean and well maintained. One bedroom downstairs with access to a bathroom with a standing shower that my elderly mother used and two bedrooms upstairs for those who can climb stairs. One upstairs bedroom has an attached bathroom. The kitchen is equipped with a very clean and roomy refrigerator and gas stove with oven. There are dishes, pots, pans, baking sheets, mixing bowls, silverware, toaster and 12 cup coffee pot. There is not an automatic dishwasher so come prepared to roll up your sleeves and wash those dishes like you do at grandma's house! I did not mind this at all. This home is not cluttered, it has plenty of room to move about and enjoy dinners for 6-8 in the dining room. The breakfast nook with surrounding windows that open is bright and airy and seats 4-6. The outdoor deck is relaxing. The front porch is good for sitting and watching the wildlife play in the yard. We saw deer, rabbits, squirrels and many playful birds. We enjoyed relaxing on the front porch watching the world go by and nature at it's best. I will gladly return to this charming home.

Nice area, old house
Easy to find, easy to get to attractions, do day trips (Cheyenne mountain zoo, royal gorge, Rockies) nice and quiet neighborhood, lots of wildlife. Please note that house is old and has its limitations. No dishwasher, only window ac’s up stairs. We didn’t use the shower downstairs after reviewing owners “instructions” on use as we didn’t want to leave a water ballet in the bathroom. Recommend owner to put some effort in renovating it. Would love to stay here again but not at the price we paid for.

Cold, creaky, rickety, dark, dim, depressing, neglected, drafty, horrible
I did not enjoy staying here. I was here with my mother in law, wife and 4 kids for a conference at the Broadmoor. The house is bad and neglected. It is cold and drafty. The fireplace is blocked off by the owners, despite what it says on the listing. The floors creek very loudly and wakes up half the house if anyone uses the bathroom in the middle of the night. The kitchen doors and cabinets squeak like a railyard. The doors have holes in them! Forget your privacy. The master bedroom has a full size mattress, which is not big enough for a couple. I slept apart from my wife for a week! The plaster is peeling off the walls in the stairwell. We needed to extend our stay and it took weeks for the owner to confirm. The entry way is dark and depressing. The lighting is dim and sad. The salt and pepper shakers are the only decorations and they are empty. There weren't enough blankets in this cold freezing horrible house and I spent many nights freezing on the couch. The place was bad and cold and dark and ugly and loud and creaky and rickety and horrible. I hated it, my back hated it, my family hated it. The one good thing about this place is that it had toilet paper.

Hi Bryce, the right vacation home is everything, and we're disappointed if this wasn't the one for you! The homeowner would like to share the following: - Thank you for letting us know of the fireplace listing inaccuracy. Because of the liability, our insurance company does not allow us to make the fireplace available to guests so we've corrected this in the listing. - Like most of the houses in the Cheyenne Canyon area, ours is over 100 years old. While we have updated the electrical and plumbing, we chose to preserve some of the features we felt lent character to the house. - We're not aware of any holes in any of the doors. Each room has a close-able door that affords guests their own privacy. - Each of the bed sizes is accurately depicted on the listing and we encourage guests to thoroughly review this before booking to ensure that the home works well for their needs. We're sorry to hear that you were uncomfortable. - The house can be a bit drafty, but guests are welcome to turn up the thermostats, which we keep low when the house is unoccupied. We also have provided extra blankets in the closet in the downstairs bedroom. - We also have an excellent 24-hour local management company that is very responsive to our guests' needs. They could have assisted with the heating issues had they been contacted. Their contact information was sent in an email to your prior to checking in and is also posted clearly on the front of the welcome book. We apologize for any delay with extending your stay but we're glad to have been able to complete this request for you. We look forward to hosting many satisfied guests!

Hi Tracie, thank you for your review. We wanted to pass along the following feedback from the homeowners: We are sorry to hear you were disappointed in your stay. We don't list a fireplace as an amenity, plus the daily temperatures have been in the 90s. We stock the kitchen with adequate pots and pans for the capacity of our property. I will check to make sure none of them have disappeared and replace them if needed. Most of the windows are brand new and very high quality, so they open and close easily, with the exception of the downstairs bedroom windows. We wish you had let us know about this, as we would have been happy to check it out for you and repair the window right away if necessary. We are not sure what you mean by saying the sunroom is unusable. Everything is clean and in working order. We will take care of the screen door--thank you for bringing that to our attention. We have furniture on the back porch, but will definitely consider investing in some chairs that can be used on the front porches as well. Thank you for the feedback!

Amazing house and location
This house was perfect for the 6 of us! It’s right next to hiking and mountain biking. It’s central location allowed us to spend time at Pike’s Peak one day and the Royal Gorge another day. Old Colorado City and downtown Manitou Springs were just minutes away and a great time shopping, arcade games, and ice cream😀. The house had plenty of blankets and fans, as well as a nicely stocked kitchen.

Fall hiking get away
We loved staying here, although the house needs maintenance. The door knob on the front door is loose, the swing on the porch likes broken on the porch and there were crumbs on the chair cushions at the dining tables and on the floor. The last day we were there we saw a mouse sorry across the floor which may be due to being in a slightly wooded area, but should be dealt with. The location is wonderful and the getaway perfect for my husband and I.
