We picked Abbaye de Maizieres because it looked interesting. The experience far exceeded our expectations and our expectations were high. Great staff. . .very welcoming and helpful. Betty, Emilie and Thibault were each top notch. We knew they do not have an elevator, but that was not an impediment. . .they were very helpful on that count also. The breakfast was first class. . .we had never had a candlelight breakfast before. They helped with dinner reservations as well. The hotel was easily within walking distance of everything in Beaune. We certainly will return.

beautiful old building. Bijou hotel perfect for exploring Beaune.No restaurant but lots of good restaurants nearby. Good breakfast.

The stairway is challenging for someone in decent shape. However, the upper floor rooms are daunting. The room assigned as premium had a steep staircase to the bed. If one had to get up in the middle of the night, it is actually treacherous.

There is no elevator and the stairs are are steep and old. They should let folks know that before they book. The first floor has easier stairs.

We are sorry to learn that you were not completely satisfied with your stay.Our stairs are indeed old and steep because they are of the age of the building: 12th Century (we are a "historic hotel" as indicated on the presentation page of our hotel).The absence of an elevator is well indicated on our hotel page. You would have been known this information if you had clicked on “accessibility” before you book. Please note, however, that one of our receptionists, a lady, kindly helped you by carrying your luggage (3 pieces) to your 2 rooms.

Great place to stay. Small but lovely indoor pool. The ladies who run it are real pros but also very likable and helpful always. No elevator and very steep challenging stairs so be prepared.

This is an amazing property. It HAS NO ELEVATOR! I was on the top (3) floor which over 60 steps up the original stone spiral staircase. I’m not going to lie; it’s a workout. The place is worth the sweat. Modern infused with Antiquity and a heated pool. (Might have been a tad too warm). Walking distance from the train station and to great shopping, dining, and attractions. The breakfast is made to order and we’ll executed. The staff is impeccable. They’re very knowledgeable about the hotel and the area. Great little wine bar downstairs too.

The Abbaye De Maizieres was an absolutely amazing hotel. It is an extremally beautiful property that is close to everything Beaune has to offer. And the staff were also all incredible to deal with.

Beautiful and cozy renovation of a 12th century Abbey. We had a lovely large room with a king bed, beautiful bathroom and sitting area. Close to all attractions of the old town. Near the ram parts for strolling. Parking was a little difficult, we had to park two blocks away.

An amazing place! 1200’s Abbey.
An Abbey from the 1200’s converted into a beautiful upscale hotel. An experience that you should not miss. The rooms are large and beautifully renovated. Luxury and history combined into an amazing hotel experience.

Lovely stay in a lovely hotel.
A lovely stay in a lovely hotel. Check in was a breeze and was shown to my room on the third floor. It is quite a walk up so was glad that he offered to carry my bag. I had a Deluxe Double Room which has even more stairs so be warned! I loved it, but if you have any mobility issues or do not have much stamina for stairs, do not stay on the third floor. The staff was very attentive and accommodating. The lobby is spectacular as you are literally in a cellar of a 13th century abbey. The stonework and furnishings make you feel like you have traveled back in time. Bed was comfortable, robes and slippers provided. I will say that for this price we should not have to pay for extra coffee pods—perhaps the only complaint. If you go, there is free city parking at Republique parking not too far. The metered parking is free overnight and easy to find. The location is close to everything but on a quiet side street.

An amazing property built in the 12th century with amazing character. One thing to be aware of when staying here is take an overnight bag as the stairs are steep and there is no lift

The property is beautiful and the staff is extremely friendly! One thing to be aware of is the steep, winding stairs to your room. Very difficult if you aren't in good shape.

A terrific Hotel with a lot of charm in a great location in the center of Old Beaune. Beautiful lobby in this Hotel which was built 800 years ago...great room for breakfast which is served under the beautiful vaulted ceilings...Breakfast was delicious and fresh..the Hostess and all the Staff were extremely friendly and helpful..the size of our room was large with very high ceilings...nice big shower...Overall a great choice.. One possible issue for some people: this is a beautifully restored very old building...so there is no Elevator...there is a gorgeous spiral staircase..if you have trouble walking up and down stairs, this may be an issue for you..otherwise I highly recommend this Hotel..

The property is a beautiful old abbey which has been updated without changing the original character of the building. The rooms and all of the public spaces are beautiful.

A TRULEY INCREDIBLE EXPERIENCE! We travel frequently and this was one of the most memorable stays we have had in long time. Without a doubt the best stay on our 3 week road trip in France. The hotel is elegant, comfortable and filled with history. The level of hospitality we received form the manager Betty and the owner Emmanuelle was amazing. They made us feel like we were guests in there home. The Suite we stayed was comfortable, very nice bedding and decorated and furnished very elegantly. This is a 5 star hotel!

Absolutely wonderful place to stay. Not only was the location perfect to explore Beaune on foot, the free parking is a great bonus. From the moment we arrived the staff we kind and friendly. Our room was gorgeous and very clean. The main lobby, bar, restaurant area was beautiful. The preservation of the original abbey and history is amazing and makes for a lovely setting. Highly recommend staying here!

This is a beautiful old building and rooms have been nicely renovated. The staff are friednly and welcoming. The downside is the steep staircase you need to climb, which may be difficult for some travellers. We were also disturbed by the smell of incense or other perfume both in the lobby and in our room.

The hotel itself dates to the 12th century, and one feels transported back to another time. The lower level reception includes nice seating area, and tables for your candlelight breakfast set amidst stone arches and walls. A very interesting and unique atmosphere. A circular stone staircase led to our spacious modern room, with high ceilings, a very comfortable king bed, air conditioning and heat, refrigerator and a very nice modern bathroom with all the amenities. There is a small courtyard, where we enjoyed a bottle of wine in the fresh air. The rooms had nice black out shades, and were very quiet. Metered parking, free on Sundays, was very close and safe. The hotel is very convenient to the village of Beaune, with easy walking just moments to the village center, with shops, restaurants and cafes, the cathedral, many wine shops, bicycle rentals etc. We rented bikes one morning and had a nice ride in the vineyards where we enjoyed a picnic lunch, and also enjoyed an evening walk on the ramparts at one edge of the village. Breakfast was served each morning, with a variety of croissant, breads, crepes, fresh squeezed juice, eggs and meats, with lovely and attentive service by the hotel staff. All in all, very enjoyable for our two night stay in Beaune.

Highly recommended. We had a wonderful stay- the hotel has unique charm with its historic roots and a well thought out design that highlights that charm. The staff was extremely welcoming and accommodating. We only regret that we did not stay longer.

An 11th century boutique
An amazing old Abbey, now a boutique hotel. Our room was very clean and comfortable, with lovely soft linen. The old stone work has been lovingly restored and anything new sympathetically fitted in, including our bathroom. And the indoor swimming pool! The reception, lounge and dining room is all in the old 11th century vaulted wine cellar. The location, in the heart of the town is also excellent.

Plus points are a beautiful old building and excellent staff. Minus points are very difficult and unavoidable stairs everywhere, no hotel parking or nearby and little heating in appartement.
