What a gem! This beautiful riverfront property delivers on all fronts - staff, location, cleanliness, waterfront view, fitness center, amenities, parking, event space …wow - we couldn’t have asked for more. The breakfast by the river while watching the dogs play as the sun came up was so pleasant. Wish we could have stayed longer. Truly the folks at this hotel over delivered in every way. Absolutely recommend you enjoy a stay at the James Newbury!

Room was hot and air conditioning kept going into sleep mode so I kept waking up hot and then the alarm was set for 4:00 a.m. for some reason and the restaurant was right above me which I heard late at night and early in the morning and it was just no quiet in the room.

Very nice hotel conveniently located near the Thruway exit and 9W. Easy access to the ski mountains and to Hudson, NY for antiquing.

My room was advertised as having a jetted tub and it did not. It had a tub no jets. The shampoo and body wash were basically empty. The staff was helpful and everything was very clean.

If you are looking for a quiet relaxing getaway, this is the spot. On site restaurant is amazing, high quality and delicious. Highly recommend. Rooms with views are amazing. Drive into Hudson NY for a town feel. This hotel is more for the river views and quiet.

Brand new property, beautifully built and maintained. My only 2 very small gripes, you can’t charge your bar tab to your room. Breakfast is very basic. But I will be back!

We had a really nice, relaxing stay at the hotel. Surrounding area is very quiet and underdeveloped, but it was perfect for what we needed l, a little rest and relaxation. Only disappointment was not having a restaurant option in the hotel for dinner Sunday night. There was a place within walking distance, but would have been nice to stay in hotel. We ate brunch in the hotel and it was fantastic.

Peaceful and beautiful view
The hotel is beautiful the staff was great. The hotel was very peaceful and pleasant. Only issue I had was the sink. The water wouldn’t shut off and the sink wasn’t draining correctly. I wished they would’ve fixed it and addressed it. They never even made a note of it like they said they would when we checked out.

Beautiful Hotel. Staff very pleasant. Only issue was making the reservation I didnt realize they charge for a second person because I left that as my primary response. Clear your search if you are traveling solo.

Beautiful Historic Hotel

Relaxing getaway
I enjoyed an overnight stay. Our room was very clean and comfortable. We had dinner at Patrick Henry next door and the food was great. The hotel breakfast choices were fine with us because we don’t eat a lot in the morning. We would definitely go back.

We enjoyed our stay. Property is new, with modern design, very clean. Friendly staff. Onsite restaurant is excellent. The only thing that was not so great was breakfast, as the food selection was very limited (and it seemed as if there was not enough, as they ran out of some items early)/

Bad experience with check in and reservation with expedia mostly to blame. The original booking through expedia was cancelled as the credit card was incorrectly sent over. I wasnt notified so the originial reservation for 2 days was cancelled and only 1 day sas available. Staff at hotel was emotionless, not helpful at all, and lacked empathy.

Not the room I booked. No jetted tub
Nice, new hotel in a very quiet town, Coxsackie. My expectations were high and weren’t meant because the room I had booked and paid for almost a month in advance was not given to me. I paid for a Deluxe room which comes with jetted tub. Given the reason of this stay, that feature was important. I was told that room was sold out after sending me upstairs to a “basic” room. A room that was 1 floor below the hotel’s 5th Floor restaurant which all we heard were the sounds of chairs and tables screeching from the ceiling! Also, I was offered a round of drinks “on the house” but I don’t drink. The experience had potential and I was disappointed that it the most important part of this stay wasn’t met.

Overnight in Coxsackie
Overall, our stay was pleasant. The hotel is still very new. I believe only a few months old. So most, if not all its furnishings are still brand new. The hotel is well kept. Very Clean, including our room. The Staff, especially the Front Office guy who checked us in was very nice. He provided us information for a good place for dinner nearby since none was offered at the hotel that evening. He was also the one who brought us bed linen and extra towel for my daughter who used the pullout couch. Yes, our stay was pleasant but it was far from perfect, As I mentioned, the hotel is brand new. There was a very strong odor of "new construction smell" Not a pleasant one. Smelled of paint and plaster. The walls were thin that we could hear the occupants of the next room. Their conversation and the tv show they were watching. The utility panel on the ceiling above the closet/mini fridge was left open. One of the towels was very worn out and torn. Breakfast was included but we wished they offered more items. Overall our stay wasn't bad. Friendly Staff. Very good service. We plan to come back for future stays..

New Hotel on the Hudson River
New hotel on the Hudson River. There was only a bench and a bed for seating - the only flat surfaces were the side tables next to the bed and a small shelf under the tv. It rained overnight and since my room was next to the hotel entry way canopy, I heard the rain drops falling onto the metal roof-top and got very little sleep. That being said, I'm sure once they get more furniture and it weren't raining, this would be a great spot! Staff was very friendly.

Loved this niche hotel
Our stay at this riverside hotel for NY eve was perfect. A restaurant on the top floor and a tavern 100 ft from the hotel. Loved how they repurposed materials from once was a factory. Great place for a wedding.

Messed up room charge….again.
Nice, new property. Friendly staff. Nice setting by the river. Pillows could be better quality. Only one robe in room with 2 beds. But biggest issue was being overcharged for the room for the second straight stay. Seriously, watch your CC charges carefully here. Wish it wasn’t such an issue because nearly everything else is nice or adequate.
