Best rental EVER! Perfect vacation house! 10/10!!
Mike and Marsha are AMAZING hosts! The house was spotless and has so many amenities! Private beach with tons of chairs, kayaks and fire pit. Wonderful deck overlooking the lake, room for the whole family for meals inside and out. Nice grill on the deck connected to the house. The kitchen is beautiful, has a huge island and is stocked with everything you need. Tons of extra pillows, blankets and sheets. Beds are very comfy! 4 beds in the bunkhouse with AC, such a great bonus space. The living room has huge windows with that amazing lake view, and a very large tv for the whole family to have a movie night. The house even has a surround sound system to play music inside and out. This house is truly a treasure, my family had the best week here and we couldn’t of asked for a better vacation. Our dog loved the beach and the space to run around also. We can’t wait to go back! :)

Even Better The Second Time Around
When Michigan beaches are unpredictable year to year, this place is one you can count on. For the second year in a row we enjoyed sparkling water, sunny skies, sunrises, campfires, kayaks and family time. When you have to go inside for sustenance, the kitchen is an ample place to gather and is well- appointed to cook whatever delicious meal you have the desire for. There's a large table inside and outside for dining, board games or to take in the fabulous view. Mike does a great job of continuing to update and maintain his property and is very interested in what his guests are looking for in their perfect vacation. Book it and see for yourself!

Gorgeous Views
We loved every minute of our stay. The house is very nice, but the yard, beach and view are the stars! We kayaked, swam, and just enjoyed the outdoors. We met the owner, Mike, and he was so very gracious and accommodating. We even met several neighbors who were very welcoming. We had the lovely experience of watching the last supermoon of the year rise over Lake Huron. Spectacular! Definitely recommend staying at this lovely spot.

Private Lake Huron Getaway
Our family of four adults and two dogs had a very relaxing vacation at this home. The location is on a private beach right on Lake Huron. Recent updates to the deck give you wonderful views of the lake and several types of chairs in which to relax. Bonfires on the beach were a great way to end our evenings.

Simply the BEST
Hands down this is the best rental we’ve ever had. The lake front location is gorgeous. The cottage is very clean and extremely well appointed. We had everything we needed. The owner is kind and very considerate. Everyone had a great vacation.

Best Beach on Huron
This was our second time renting here. Many upgrades in the last year, primarily new deck and stairs. Beach is in perfect condition. Best one we saw nearby during multiple Kayak trips north and south. Kids had a blast in the sand. Bring water shoes for rocks, which is typical for this side of Lake Huron. The smallest room had a TERRIBLE smell that never went away, coming from the closet. It's clear the renters are aware of the issue, as they had two odor neutralizer tubs in the room, one in the closet, and an opened bar of Irish Spring in the closet. Since they knew about it, and didn't fix it, I wasn't going to spend a bunch of time complaining. I don't know if it was sewer leak or a dead animal, but it was repulsive and strong and constant. I was able to stop the odor from coming into the living area by using winter sheets over the closet door, and jamming excess through the peripheral cracks with a screwdriver. After spending an hour doing my best to stop/seal it, so that it was SAFE FOR MY CHILDREN to breathe, I was able to forget it for the rest of our stay, until I removed my fix to leave. The smell was still terrible when re-opened. Dishonesty and covering up major sanitation issues limits you to two stars in my world. We won't be coming back. Once Mike gets the smell fixed, it's a great place, beautiful, really. Great neighbors, great property.

Eric, thanks for your review & the heads up regarding the odor coming from the bedroom closet. As soon as I read your review I called Thumb Cooling & Heating. They were the company that just installed our new fireplace. They came out within the hour to check for any leaks in the system. They did find a leak and repaired it on the spot. Eric, the rational behind me leaving all my guests with my cell phone # is so they can call me immediatley if there is a problem or something they would like taken care of. I never heard from you so I assumed all was well. There was no cover up at all. We would never do such a thing. I put Irish Spring Soap in all of the closets because I like the smell. We strive to make all our clients 100% satisfied. Our goal is to WOW everyone that walks into our home. Please take a look at all previous reviews....they average 4.9 out of 5. Best Regard, Mike

Family Vacation!
Our host was wonderful! We spent the majority of our time on the beach. The water was clear, and the kayaks were a great addition. We loved to hang out on the deck. The view was amazing. The highlite of the house was the huge kitchen. We had a great family vacation.

AMAZING, BEAUTIfUL view! Clean, comfortable home! Very nice host!
I highly recommend Mike's home on Lake Huron!!! We've stayed at many VRBO homes and this was one of the best! The house is very clean and the living room is very comfortable, with new recliners and swivel, glider chairs. There is plenty of seating for a large group. The flooring and area rugs look newer and are easy to keep clean. The TV is HUGE! The kitchen appliances, cupboards and countertops were clean. The fridge was completely clean, no leftover condiments or food left from other guests (a pet peeve of mine). The deck was where we spent most of our time! It's a perfect place to relax on the comfortable chairs, listen to the waves and watch the changing scenery of Lake Huron! The view is incredible, and the composite deck with sidewalk from the house made it extra nice. Our lab loved swimming every day and we felt comfortable with her off leash because the beach is so far from the road and we rarely saw other people down by the water. We enjoyed eating meals on the patio just outside the kitchen. It has a pergola to give nice shade, with clean tables and chairs to use. We drove to Harbor Beach one day and really enjoyed walking our dog on the Harbor View Trail. It's a very interesting walk with historical information posted along the way and 2 piers on either end of the trail to walk out on. We felt that walking at the house was not the best due to the fast moving traffic. But the house is far from the road so road noise at he house was not an issue at all. Mike was a great host! We could tell it was important to him that we enjoyed the property as much as he does. He stopped at the house to make sure everything was good and we mentioned the grill needed repairs and within a few hours he returned with a new grill for us to use! He encouraged us to call him or his property manager if there were any issues and he would take care of it. Thank you Mike! We had a great time at your beautiful home!

Best Michigan Vacation Rental We’ve Had
Mike owns a Michigan gem of a property, and we’re thrilled he’s willing to share it. He has one of the few properties that can boast a beach, and he’s skillfully positioned his home, decks, and rockscape to take full advantage of it. The view is spectacular, the home fully equipped and spacious, and although I’m not sure he can control the weather, it was fabulous too. We had a raucous thunderstorm which knocked out the internet the first night forcing my husband, adult children and me to unplug for a few days. Can that even be counted as a negative event? We spent one afternoon exploring nearby Petroglyphs park, but enjoyed the ever changing beauty nature brought for the rest of our stay. We can’t wait to return.

What a fantastic vacation
This house was Amazing. It was plenty big enough for 9 people. The house was furnished with everything we needed to have a great family vacation. The views from the deck were amazing. We loved having the 2 firepits to use. We had a fire on the beach every evening. The kids loved taking the kayaks and paddle boards out on adventures. Mike was fantastic to communicate with and made sure we didnt need anything while we were there. Couldn't have asked for a better house or location!

Private getaway
My wife and two kids (ages 6 & 8) had a wonderful vacation. We stayed 6 nights. The location of the property is very quiet, rural and there is very little traffic going past. The property is very long, which eliminated noise from everything but the loudest passing motorcycles. The kids loved the beach. It was a workout to walk southward down the beach. Downed trees and higher water decreased the mileage you'll be able to walk, especially on the windy days with higher waves. There were an abundance of rocks, so be certain to bring comfortable water shoes. There is sand available, but it was a bit difficult to just sit down and dig unimpeded, due to the rocks. Knowing Lake Huron, that probably changes week to week. The two outdoor fireplaces and supplied firewood were a great bonus. We took advantage of the two kayaks and two paddle boats. It was great that they had life vest available for the adults. Off in the distance it was interesting to see the many larger container ships passing by. The house was super clean and well maintained with everything we needed. It was great that bath towels and bed linens were provided. That really simplifies packing and saves space in the car. The kitchen was well stocked. The barbeque worked great. The hottest day was sunny and maybe 83°F but the windows and breeze kept the house so cool we didn't bother turning on the AC. The Television is laughably large. Wifi worked throughout the home (had a work meeting...). Washer and dryer was handy. We drove to Deckerville for food. Decently stocked/sized. We had a nice meal southward at the Stone Lodge, then ice cream at the Port Sanilac Harbor. Mike stopped by and we had some good chuckles. He's clearly excited to be as hospitable as possible. Open and accessible. This is a great place for a family to stay and get away!

Upgrades Everywhere
Mike’s place is upgraded everywhere you look. The pictures don’t even do it justice. Top to bottom renovations, huge screen tv’s, powered recliners and beds, and a huge kitchen. There’s also a massive walk in shower right next to a new washer and dryer. It was a perfect getaway for our family (wife, 3 kids, and I). We’ve been coming up to the Port Sanilac area for years, and this was our best stay yet. The deck is an amazing spot for a fire, and the lower deck overlooks the entire beach. Even with the high water, the beach was still great for the kids. There were lots of fossils, petoskey stones, and skipping rocks. Mike has also just put in some retaining rocks that will bring in even more sand as the water levels fall.

It's All That And a Bag of Chips!
This property is fabulous. There are many upgrades not listed at this time such as a Generac (electrical back up system), Keurig and regular coffee station, 84" TV and top notch kitchen appliances, dish ware and cooking ware. The view of Lake Huron is outstanding. We had a wonderful time.

Mike's place was a beautiful and peaceful place to stay for the week. The kitchen was fully stock with anything we needed to cook for the week and the new gas grill was very convenient. There were a lot of upgrades from the original photos, beautiful new chairs by the fire pit being one of them. We really appreciated having the kayaks and paddleboards, wish we could have used them more but was limited due to weather. Overall great peaceful place. Thanks for the stay Mike!

Great place in beautiful location!
The place was spotless, well equipped, and suited our needs well, and the location was terrific, with amazing views especially at sunrise. The sand beach was intact despite high water levels and was good for kids to play (not super large but definitely enough), and we really appreciated the kayaks and stand-up paddleboards. Lake Huron was surprisingly placid most of the days of our trip, so we could swim and boat even with little kids. When the water does get choppy, it's hard to go in because the waves bring in loose rocks. But this only happened two days of our trip--on those days we just enjoyed the view and the kids played on the lawn and inside instead, and we took an excursion to the splash pad park in Sandusky.

Amazing views!!
Ok so this property is a 10 for my family and I. The views and location was just what we wanted and needed for a getaway. The two decks and firepits where perfect for our night sitting outside. The lake was so refreshing on a hot summer day. We loved the kayak and stand up paddle board. Mike the owner greeted us when we arrived and showed us around the house. He told us places to go. We were there for my sister birthday and he was more than accommodating. I have rented quite a few houses for vacations and no one has every treated us the way Mike did. Mike is such a nice man. We hit the jackpot with this rental.

Cozy , quiet retreat from Covid 19
Third bedroom was small more like a walk-in closet. More update pictures would help. Otherwise very pleasant stay. Home cozy very comfortable. Showers and bedrooms adequate. The views and decks were wonderful for watching sunrises, sunsets and just reading. The use of kayaks and paddle boards were such a nice addition for our family. The Lake House was remote enough for self isolation during this pandemic but close enough to stores for needed supplies. Our family had a relaxing, fun time playing and enjoying our time together on Lake Huron

Spectacular views, relaxing sounds of the water. Water shoes are a must lots of big rocks. Seems like the lake ate the beach. Overall good spot for a relaxing family vacation. Stay away from Forrester inn awful food and awful service.

Really enjoyed our week at the lake!
Very comfortable home, well equipped. Owner & property manager were easy to correspond with. Found some awesome restaurants. Wind cancelled our fishing charter, but the weather was beautiful. Our dog absolutely loved swimming. Hope we didn’t leave too much of him behind! Easy drive from Pittsburgh & well worth it!

We had a family vacation at this well equipped and peaceful setting. The home had quality appliances in the kitchen and new window air conditioners with thermostatic control. A few negatives were also noticed. Patio screen door needs maintenance, master bedroom closets were locked, leading to clutter, and the bunk house which was adequate for sleeping but the TV was not hooked to the cable system. Kind of important for kids to keep them entertained. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would rent there again. Thanks Mike.

My family has rented different houses with another family every summer for 17 years. I would rate this house as one of the top 5 houses. This year with the children grown and out of the house there were just 4 of us, and we rented Mike and Marsha Simmons' house on Lake Huron during September 2017. It is a lovely house with spacious lawns where we played bocce and croquet. There are several places to sit and relax outside--the patio for dinner, the deck overlooking the water and the beach itself. The grounds are well cared for and there is a collection of flat beach rocks that visitors have signed. Inside the house is immaculate, the beds are comfortable (although I can't speak for the bunks), the showers are large, there is plenty of space to relax and the kitchen is beautiful and open to the rest of the house. Although the the sand does not extend into the water, rather it is rocky and I recommend water shoes, it is fairly shallow and there is a sand bar further out. We explored out artistic sidwes over several afternoons making pathways and sculptures with the rocks and boulders. We could watch the sun rise over the lake, and we made several fires in the 2 firepits in the evenings. I highly recommend this house.

Making Memories
The home was pretty much perfect. We have a wheelchair dependent member in our family and this home worked out great for him. We had to enter through the doorwall in the back of the house but it worked out fine. He was able to enjoy our grandkids playing on the beach perfectly. Beach was rocky, but private and beautiful. Quiet and relaxing. There was 8 of us at any given time and we all enjoyed sitting at the island having our meals together. The home owner was amazingly accommodating. GREAT MEMORIES and we hope to return. Thank you to the owners for making it everything and more than we expected!

Great Times at the Beach
Dear Mike and Marsha...Thank you for the use of your home :) We had a wonderful time. The house provides everything you could possibly need for a comfortable stay. We enjoyed the beach and that it was so close and you could actually sit on the lawn and watch the kids down playing in the sand by the lake. The kitchen is much larger than the pictures make it appear, and so is the master bedroom. The living is also very comfortable with wonderful views of the lake. We enjoyed many meals on the large outdoor patio set. The remodeled bath was also very large and roomy. I wish I could hire your cleaning crew for our home, they are exceptional!! Other little things that made the stay exceptional are things like, the kids room with toys and cute bedding, spices on the rack, lots of extra chairs and lawn furniture, plenty of towels and even a first aid kit!! We will definitely consider a future visit. Have a wonderful summer!

Great and scenic place to stay
This is really a gem. The entire experience was pleasant from first contact with hosts, Mike and Marsha, to a follow up phone call. The house is thoughtfully furnished and the layout is perfect. It has everything you need from plenty of towels to comfy beds to all wares in the kitchen and great showers in the bathrooms. Helpful notes throughout provide access to wireless for devices and how to work the remote for tv that has plenty of satellite channels. Grocery stores are 10 minutes away. Convenience store and gas is even closer. The view is something that will stay with us and our son is already asking when we can go back. Spotlessly clean too. Bring flip flops for the beach and sunscreen and you are set.

Lacking in Space and Hospitality
We often rent VRBO houses but this is the first time we have left early. It was disappointing - the 3rd bedroom in the house (with the bunk bed) is very small. The bunk bed takes up at least 60% of the room. The bathroom near the bedrooms also is very, very small - so small that the toliet paper is under the sink. The bunkhouse is a garage with beds in it which smells and is musty and isn't great if you have allergies. It also was difficult making contact with the owners. As we got within two weeks of the start of the rental, I realized we didn't know what time we could arrive at the house which we needed to know to do some other planning. It took several emails to get an answer. At that point, we were about a week from arriving yet we weren't also given details about how to gain entry to the house. That took another phone call on our part. We were told to call the caretaker when we got close to the house. We have never had to meet a caretaker before -- usually we are given a code to a lock or told were the key is hidden. We arrived and the caretaker took us inside the house. Before even giving us a tour or letting us look around, he immediately told as that checkout was at 10 am and he would be over at 9:30 am to see us checkout. I told him we had never had checkout so early (usually it is 11 am or 12 noon) nor had we ever had someone arrive 30 minutes before checkout to make sure we vacated on time. Frankly, the thought of having a stranger standing there as I rustled my teenage kids out the door was not appealing to me! We also did not feel "welcomed" at all. Bath towels weren't hung in the bathrooms for us (we had to seek them out in a closet ourselves), there wasn't a welcoming note, or (as we have found in other houses) a binder containing menus and info on locale events, fresh flowers, a bottle of wine or the makings for s'mores for the kids. One of my teens said she felt like we were legally "breaking and entering". We ended up leaving a night early because most of us were not sleeping well. The two big beds are very firm, my son is too long for the bunk beds and slept on the couch, and the bunkhouse garage is very musty, smelly and spooky. The owner emailed to ask why we left early and I emailed him back our concerns but never heard from him. Not surprised by that. Overall, other than the view, beach and nice kitchen, it was disappointing.

Lake Huron Heaven
This house is right on Lake Huron with exquiset views of the lake. The home was spotless and all possible comforts were met. The owner went out of his way to make us feel wanted and comfortable. There is absolutely no other needs. Beds were very comfortable, house was spotless, kitchen was amazing. This is one vacation spot that should never be overlooked.

Don't Pass This One Up
This is certainly one of the nicest homes that you could ask for. The view is absolutely fantastic. It's so relaxing to sit on the deck in the morning with a cup of coffee, and watch the sun come up, and also view a few freighters passing by. In the afternoon it is so relaxing to just sit in the shade and take a "power nap" while listening to the soothing sounds of the waves splashing up on shore. The home itself is beautiful. The east side of the home has a wall of windows, offering a great view of Lake Huron, with beautiful views out of the other windows as well. Everything in the house is new, and in great condition. This home is spotlessly clean; the appliances are new and in great working order. There are also a few beautiful antiques scattered throughout the house. The wifi works great, and the large flat screen television has a huge selection of channels to choose from. The mattresses are new and very, very comfortable. The bunkhouse is roomy, and a great place for extra sleeping quarters. The property itself is very quiet and secluded. The owners, Mike and Marsha, and the Property Manager Pat are the nicest people you could hope to meet; very helpful, courteous and responsive. By the way, as a side trip, you have to walk across the "singing bridge" in nearby Croswell, MI. It is an amazing experience. This property is highly recommended.

Wonderful property, great time and helpful owners.
My children and grandchildren had a wonderful time at the property. We had plenty of room, access to the lake, and quick and helpful access to owners and property manager for questions. The property was as advertised with lovely deck leading down to the beach with extraordinary sunrise views. Good beach for families- not too deep, fairly warm with sandy/rocky beach- good fossil hunting for kids. The bunkhouse was okay for older children or adults. Access to internet and cable TV was excellent and large generous kitchen for family meal preparation. We loved it! Thanks!

Excellent, Excellent and more Excellent!
We will return, everything was in great order and clean! Pat, the cottage keeper met us and took great care in making sure we knew our way around! The decks were very good to read a book or see the stars and the freighters go by. Cottage filled with extra sheets and towels. Golf, restaurants and staples store close by. Beach daily, family dinners most days with a fires and smores nightly. Very quiet solitude! We drove the Lake Huron circle tour for a day trip, all the way to Port Crescent seeing all of the lighthouses and having lunch.. Good location to travel from. Mike and Marsha, you have a very nice place and I appreciate your follow up call when we got back and in working with us prior to our stay. Not kidding about water shoes needed for rocks. I was so glad they mentioned it. We have always been fans of the sunset side of the state, but the sunrise side is most definitely underrated. Hope to visit again soon! Gina, Tom and Family 2016

Perfect Family Getaway
We hate to review this property because once the secret is out, we might not be able to book it in the future. We stayed for 2 weeks (with another 2 weeks in the future) and the place is amazing. First, the house is perfectly suited for family and friends. The kitchen island is the perfect space for eating and socializing. The two bathrooms are beautiful as are the three bedrooms. If you have small kids, they will love the room with bunk beds. There is a detached bunkhouse without a bathroom but plenty more room for guests to stay. The master bedroom was roomy with a sliding door out to the lawn and lake. The outside space is perfectly configured with a table and chairs and another space with a two-tiered deck overlooking the water. The beach, well, that's perfect too. Yes, there are stones at first but then it turns into sand. Perfect. Mike and Marsha are the most wonderful hosts. They make sure you have everything you need. Pat, the property manager is always on-call and a really nice person. We loved this place. You will too. Just don't tell anyone else, okay?

Great place! All you need here is beach towels and flip flops.
This was our second year staying at this property, and we're hoping to return again next summer. There isn't again else you could want in staying here. Beautiful home! Had a WONDERFUL stay at this location!
This home and lakefront property provided a perfect vacation for our multi-generational family. This home is beautiful and extremely comfortable. We had so much fun on the beach with our 4 year old grandson. Mike and Marsha are very gracious hosts and Pat, the property manager was very helpful in every way. We would definitely stay here again! GREAT property!! Definitely felt like home away from home.
