Beautiful House and Lake
Our family of four had a fun week! We decided to rent the pontoon boat and were very glad we did. Placid Lake is fairly quiet and the fishing was great (bass, pike, bluegill and crappie). We were entertained by a loon family and a bald eagle. The house can be warm when it’s 85-90 degrees outside but always cooled off at night. As others have mentioned, the kitchen is a bit dated but everything works well. Loved the nice Weber grill on the deck too! Mark is a very responsive and accommodating host.

A Lovely Oasis
A comfortable property on a peaceful lake, this home was perfect for our family getaway. The layout of the house is so interesting, with nooks for both quiet isolation and for group gaming or eating together as a family. The grounds are surprisingly spacious and beautifully (naturally) landscaped. This home had just about everything we needed for a perfect week-long stay. The location is perfect, too -- far enough from "civilization" to feel like a real getaway, yet close enough to a town like Crosby to easily go get coffee or ice cream or shop the cute stores on Main Street. And renting the pontoon boat was a fantastic decision. The lake isn't huge, but it's plenty big for touring on the pontoon at a Sunday Afternoon Drive pace. Check-in was simple and communication with Mark was quick and easy. The guide/info book provided by the owners at the house is extremely helpful too. Would definitely go again!

Fantastic lake week!

Great House
We enjoyed our time at Placid Lake. Falconhurst was a great cabin. We had 9 people and we all fit well and had plenty of space. The pontoon boat was a fun addition and made for some very fun days on the lake. The lake was quiet and really enjoyable. We were able to catch several fish right from the dock.

Amazing Family Vacation
We had a fantastic family vacation at Falconhurst! The home accommodations were perfect for our 11 family members. We enjoyed fishing from the dock and from the pontoon boat. The grandkids especially loved swimming in the lake. We were visited by bald eagles and loons often and enjoyed the quiet of this private lake. The kitchen was well stocked with what we needed. We will definitely be making this our annual family vacation spot! Such a great place!

Placid lake love
This was one of the most architecturally interesting, tastefully decorated, and well-provisioned cabins we have ever stayed in. We loved the lake, the pontoon and kayaks, all the different deck areas and indoor nooks and hangout spaces. The sauna worked great and it was so refreshing to jump in the lake after heating up. The kitchen was well-provisioned. We saw and heard loons, a beaver dam, and we caught a northern pike! We’ll definitely consider staying here again.

The location of this quaint cabin is outstanding. Private, on a hill overlooking the beautiful (and not overly busy) Lake Placid. The fireplace and sun room are outstanding. The kitchen and bath are dated - but everything worked, which is most important. Sauna was great as well.

Amazing views from every room. Plenty of space for everyone to spread out and have their quiet time or comfortable space for the entire group to sit and visit. The firepit is perfect. We plan to have Falconhurst as our getaway whenever we feel the need to rewind.

Very unique property to explore and relax at. Owner was very accomidating and great communication. Had a blast on the pontoon which worked perfectly. Fishing was great literally right off the shoreline. And got to see a distant thunderstorm with stars out at the same time, all from the private rooftop deck - something we may experience never again! Excellent time.

Wanted an escape from the hustle and bustle. This did just the trick. Rented the boat and fishing on the lake was great. The local community had just enough fun spots for the family to visit to keep us busy.

A wonderful week away in the cabin on the hill!
We were so happy with our stay at Falconhurst. This was our first time trying a new place in 20 years, so needless to say we were worried and had high expectations. These were definitely met and exceeded! Highlights: - Very quiet lake, yet big enough to explore and boat around—we kayaked and boated every day multiple times. - The boat!! Such a fun addition to the week, we used it every day. - The views!!! Every room has a beautiful view. We spent a lot of time in the sunroom each morning watching the sunrise over the lake and in the evening, watching the sunset from the roof - The property. It's quite a stunning spot with lots of wildlife and privacy. We were grateful for the space and solitude. - Crosby. We weren't expecting much from this small town, but we're pleasantly surprised! We loved the Iron Range Eatery (returned twice) and Cuyuna Brewery (returned 3x). - Mark made it easy to checkin and out! Great communication and even gave awesome recommendations! Only downfalls: - Lots of bugs and flies—to be expected in July near a lake! - No A.C.—we had a hot week, some days in the 90s. We were able to keep the house semi-cool but not as comfortable in evenings when the lows weren't lower than 75. - No beach—the boat made up for it though! - No walkable restaurants or bars and not great walking on the road near the house.

I stayed at the house with my husband, my best friend, her three teenagers and our dogs. We had so much fun! We rented the pontoon (highly recommend it if you are there in the summer) and really enjoyed cruising around the lake. The house comes with all the basics so cooking was easy. They thought of everything! My husband enjoys grilling and was impressed by the grill. Its a good one! The house itself has such a great energy. We especially enjoyed the TV room - love the dragonfly tiffany lamps. It creates such a cool ambiance in the evening. The view from the decks is amazing and the property is a wonderland for puppies to explore. We highly recommended this property and hope to come back again next summer!

Very spacious home
We had 10 adults in the home. Loved the sunroom and appreciated all of the fans throughout the home. Some of our group had trouble with the spiral stairs (only way to upper levels) and the steep hill from the lake. Other than that our stay was wonderful. Awesome communication from owner. Driveway is very steep and no shelves on door of fridge or ice maker but these were minor inconveniences. Had a nice time.

What a cabin should be
Loved the location and the quiet lake. The property is unique. We enjoyed the spacious sun room as well as the main living area that overlooked the lake. The top deck is wonderfully breezy and has lovely views. Coffee and wine were both enjoyed from that viewpoint as well as the evening stars. We rented the pontoon, and the little girls had a blast fishing and tubing. They also loved having their own space on the second floor. Communication with the host was impressive-- he was very quick to respond from the very start. When we were looking at rental opportunities, we just kept coming back to this one, and I'm glad we went for it. It was just as depicted in the photos. It's a very special place. We would love to come back!

Great Family Fishing Getaway
Our family has stayed here two years in a row now. We have 3 kids, two of whom really love fishing. We rent the pontoon and spend a lot of time out on the lake. Brought our 2 dogs this time and everything was great.

Winter Escape

Excellent winter escape
I wanted a nice post-Christmas vacation with my 3 older kids (2 high school, 1 college), my wife, and my dog. I was looking for a place that was nice and had private sleeping for my kids and my wife and me. This cabin was well-suited for our needs. It has a very nice master bedroom on the main floor, and then a tower with two additional floors and plenty of room for my kids. The kitchen was well stocked and the rooms were very comfortable. The cabin is laid out very nicely to allow for both family gatherings and private, quiet time. There is only one bathroom, but there is also a sauna which my wife and daughter both enjoyed. And the bathroom is large, with a nice shower and 2 sinks. The internet was fast enough that we were able to use a Chromecast (that we brought) to watch movies and catch the Minnesota bowl game. The cabin is situated at the end of a road on a quiet and beautiful lake. The road is quite steep. In the winter, you may have trouble getting a car up the hill. Both my Honda Fit and RAV4 struggled to get up - but we made it. If your car doesn't make it up, there is a cul-de-sac available for parking. It snowed heavily while we were there (twice), but there was a place to park in the garage and the plowing was very fast. The most enjoyable part of the trip besides family was the quiet times we all enjoyed. We made some wonderful family meals and we enjoyed walking on Placid Road in the beautiful wintry weather. In short, Falconhurst is wonderful. I highly recommend it for a winter getaway. I wish I would have rented for longer - all of us had a great time and the time passed too quickly.

Perfect writing retreat
Between the various rooms, decks, and natural areas, there are more than enough beautiful and private spaces for guests to break off for writing, meditation, or other inspired works. The large sun room was a perfect place to regroup for reflection and gaming, etc. The fire ring has the best view, and the 'widow's walk' is ideal for star gazing. Kayak's were a boon too, the lake is larger than it looks if you hit the north side and meander through the channels.

This is a really cool place with excellent views from virtually every room. Very private and peaceful with plenty of deck space to enjoy the view. Good fishing right from either dock. Well stocked and furnished very nicely. Mark was great to deal with. We will be back! Thanks.

A great place for R & R
We enjoyed our stay and hope to come back again. They only thing we missed was a directory of local attractions and ice cream recommendations, which is what the kids seemed to crave. The place was very homey and definitely helped us create fun memories this summer. The kids landed a couple of pikes, a few crappies, and countless bluegills. The neighborhood was quiet except for an occasional tow boat entertaining the kids. The location is very private and difficult to match.

Great family getaway
My wife and I took our 3 kids along with 3 of their friends, all aged 9-13, to Placid Lake for Memorial Day Weekend. This house was great! We thought the 2 girls would choose to sleep in the downstairs bedroom, but all 6 kids chose to sleep together in the loft area. We ended up not using the downstairs bedroom at all other than as a 2nd bathroom, but it would have provided a great option for a little privacy had any of the kids wanted it. We spent the vast majority of our time out on the lake using the pontoon as the fishing was exceptional. The kids caught a ton of bass, a few of them as big as they'd ever caught previously. We also caught sunnies, crappies, and a few perch. When we weren't fishing, we were playing yard games (there were several options available on the property), board games, or visiting local ice cream shops and mini-golf. This place was really great and we'd definitely rent it again.

A wonderful place for our family vacation. Took many pontoon boat rides around the beautiful and peaceful lake. Falconhurst had everything we needed for a very enjoyable week. My only complaint was no recycling available for our cans and plastic.

Beautiful property on a beautiful lake. Plenty of space for a group of friends or family - both communal and more private spaces. We had a great time swimming, pontooning, relaxing and laughing with friends. We recommend!

Family Vacation
We stayed here for a family vacation. The owners were great and accommodating and had great communication. The place does not have A/C- the first and last day we were there it got hot 93 degrees. Those days were a little rough but the owners provided many fans and if ypu open the windows it gets a great wind flow. The other days we had no problems- it was very comfortable. We loved how private the place was and didn't have to deal with neighbors. We rented the pontoon. I would reccomend that. The lake was so peaceful and we normally were the only ones om the lake. We kayaked and cannoed (provided with the rental). The house is very unique and fit all of us nicely. Everyone had their own space of they needed some alone time. It's on a pretty good hill so you get a workout going up and down from the lake. The only thing was we had younger kids and there wasn't a great swimming beach for them. The lake dropped off fast and was pretty deep. We found a great swimming beach in Crosby. It was a short 10- 15 minute drive there to take the kids swimming and to play on an amazing playground. The grounds weren't great for the little kids to go out and run around but we made do with games and things inside. Overall it was a good place for all of us to get together.

My family had a fabulous trip to Mark’s home. It is a very private location and very well kept. We really enjoyed the pontoon and how quiet the lake was. The decks and the views were spectacular. Fridge space was slightly limited for a large group, but that is an incredibly minor critique on an otherwise fantastic rental.

The only down side to our stay at Falconhurst was that it was too short. This was the most perfect setting for our family gathering, which included all of our own children, spouses and grandchildren. Everything was clean and organized, and the beds and pillows were super comfy. There was plenty of room to socialize and gather, and as someone who loves to cook, I have never been so impressed with a rental property kitchen -- nothing was lacking, even down to supplies such as ziploc bags and even parchment paper!! The lake itself was beyond perfect -- so quiet and peaceful, with crystal-clear water and hardly anyone ever on it beyond ourselves and maybe one other boat -- it was like our own private lake! Although it was a little warmer than usual, the lack of AC wasn't too much of an issue, as there were plenty of fans. We feel blessed to have discovered such a gem and hope to be back sometime in the future. Thank you for the wonderful memories!!

The perfect cabin getaway!
Our family loved this cabin getaway. It’s tucked away in the woods and surrounded by lakefront. The views are impeccable and there is so much privacy. The cabin layout and structure is very unique and feels like you are staying in a fairytale. The owner was very thorough and communicated promptly to any questions I had. We brought our children and there were plenty of beds and small child sized tables and chairs for them. Goldilocks would be pleased. The main deck is a good size for hosting meals, containing our adventurous toddler, and watching the sunset. Everything was clean and ready to go for our group. We rented the pontoon and the kids had a blast catching multiple Sunnys. We will definitely be back to this spot!

Fantastic Family Getaway!
We had a wonderful time at Falconhurst. The main deck with the gas BBQ was perfect for all of us to enjoy meals together and the rooftop deck was a great getaway for 1,2 or three people to read, lounge, relax and enjoy fantastic views of the lake and countryside. The kids enjoyed the games inside and out that were provided, and we all loved getting out on the lake in the kayaks, canoe, and rented pontoon. Evenings roasting marshmallows at the fire pit so fun also. Great stay - thank you so much!
