4 day stay,

Posted May 25, 2015
A nice hotel for the right price. Make your trip affordable because it's in the Old Dubai area (the good side of the river). We bought our lunches at local supermarket and cheap lunches local. 10min walk to metro which is the perfect way to get around. Buy a silver card at the station 50 dirham for 4 days was enough for us to se the whole city. The Howard Johnson Bur Dubai is located in a good location to do it this way. But it's not in the fancy luxurious area with shiny buildings as you might expect.

Unexpectedly Good!

Posted May 22, 2015
Pros: Everything
Looking at the cost I had though the hotel would be as per cost. But in reality it is a 4 star hotel with clean big rooms. Very reachable location. Overall a perfect hotel for a business traveller.

Nice hotel

Posted May 12, 2015
Pros: Comfortable room
Cons: There shouldn´t be a discotheque in the hotel. The music is really annoying at 2:30am, just like the guests talking on the hallways after the parties.
Location: Dubai Marina: 65 minutes away (bus). Burj Al Arab: 45 minutes away (bus). The creek: 10 minutes away (foot)
The hotel is good. Everything is clean and nice. The location is fairly good. It is a 8 minute walk from one of the main bus terminals and from one Metro station. The creek is also 10 minutes away by foot so you have eating options not far from the hotel. If you are not very into local food, a Mc Donald´s is in front of the bus terminal. The bus from the terminal to Dubai Marina takes 65 minutes. If you are going to the Burj Alarab or Jumeira, it takes 45 minutes. We didn´t have breakfast at the hotel (the buffet was EAD 300 per person). Overall, I think the hotel was fine but there was a big con which was the discotheque on the ground floor next to the reception. The music can be heard from the rooms and you don´t get much sleep until the party is over around 2:30am. If you are going to this hotel, make sure you will be assigned a room in the higher levels. If not, may be you should consider another hotel (unless you don´t have problems falling asleep). The hotel has a travel desk. Advice are good but prices high.

Friendly staff, very accommodating

Posted Apr 26, 2015
My next door neighbor goes out to the hallway to take and make his calls even at midnight and he talks very loud. The walls of the rooms seems to be thin as well because I can hear them.

Go for Royal Ascot Instead

Posted Mar 5, 2015
I booked this one to be at safer side since it is an American chain. Was disappointed a little with over all quality of the hotel. Rooms are quite congested and gym hours are not convenient (8am to 6pm when you are out sight seeing). Not exactly sure how their service tax worked. For 10 Dirham/hr internet, paid 2 Dirham service tax (so total 12 Dirham) and for 8 Dirham snack the steward did bring calculator to calculate tax, but he ended up again with 2 Dirham service tax. If you are looking for a hotel in the same area, better go with Royal Ascot which is near by.

Ok hotel

Posted Feb 26, 2015 on Hotels.com
Not a great location. Was a 15min walk to the closest metro station but easy to get taxis outside but expensive to get anywhere. Breakfast was ok but not much on offer for the price. Rooftop pool area nice, good views. No toilet paper in room on arrival had to ask for some. Could hear the bass from nightclub downstairs but were on 6th floor so not too bad. Feel could get a better hotel for same price.

Bra hotell til bra pris

Posted Feb 19, 2015 on Hotels.com

Good comfortable hotel near busstop

Posted Feb 16, 2015
Pros: A great comfortable hotel that is ideal for shoppers/tourists. The proximity to a bus stop and 10 min walk to nearby metro was ideal.
Location: The hotel is near a bus stop and metro (10 min walk), carrefour supermarket, dubai museum, centre point, day to day, burjuman mall etc.
Our flight arrived in the wee hours of the morning (2am), the hotel did their best and was able to provide us with accommodation by 10am considering they were fully booked. Due to the proximity to the bus stop, we were able to connect to the metro station further down the road and then use the metro to most tourist destinations. Plenty of shopping from centre point, day to day, al karama amongst others. Great sight seeing opportunity, Burj Khalifa, Desert Safari, Atlantis amongst others. The hotel has a tour desk that are willing to assist with any adventures you may want to experience and explore.
