Auberge Tangaro is an unusual building for the area, normally hotels are of a riad style in Morocco but this old inn retains a historic charm that we did not find anywhere else during our weeks in the country. Looking out towards the forest and then the huge flat beach leading towards Essaouria, the owner has made great efforts to preserve the charm of these low, traditional rooms, opening out onto a large courtyard filled with palms and succulents, keeping the old windmill, fireplaces and porthole windows. This care and attention is apparent in everything from the faultless staff, the candlelit dining room, the sunny breakfast area and the new bar, which was just finished in time for new year. A yoga area and reading room are also on the site, tucked away amongst the white rendered rooms and suites. Every effort was made to make our stay in Auberge Tangaro as pleasant as possible and we had the highest praise for the staff, who were considerate, helpful and professional. All of the meals were delicious, traditional Moroccan and, in particular, we will miss the breakfast and excellent coffee. Thank you Yunis, for a lovely stay.

We stayed here for 2 nights in May. Hotel is conveniently located, beautifully decorated, and clean. Style is Moroccan inspired yet modern and fresh. Service was excellent. Beds were super comfortable as well. Highly recommended!

This riad is quite small and well located in a side alleyway. Breakfast was served on the roof terrace, a very white split-level deck (sunglasses required). The Riad differed from others we stayed at as it can also be rented as an entire space by a larger group. A group arrived while we were there occupying the ground floor, which was where we'd originally been greeted and led to an awkward moment when we were looking for the owner and ended up in their "private" space.
