Absolutely gorgeous getaway right on the river
The view from this cabin is absolutely stunning! Especially with the time of year we went (mid October) with the changing colors of the leaves and the sound of the river, it truly was beautiful. The cabin was also very clean and updated making it perfect for two families with young kids to enjoy. The cabin was spacious and fully stocked with everything you’d need, especially when it came to cooking supplies. We can’t say enough great things about this property. Would definitely stay there again or try out another property managed by this company.

Fantastic trip from Seattle
We had an amazing time in Index! Tons of great climbing and hiking all within walking distance or a short drive from the house. Everything was super clean and the house was beautifully renovated. Views of the river and the mountains were amazing. I thought we would have easier access to the water, but it was actually a steep bank to get down the river, so we just used the town beach instead. Overall a great weekend getaway from the city.

Cabin in Index with River and Mountain View - family friendly
This family, friendly getaway, is tucked in the woods near the river, the sound of the river is amazing, and the view of the mountains is Pacific Northwest, magnificent. We were there with our six year, old, twins, and enjoyed the games, the bunkbeds, and the hot tub. Even though there were lots of neighbors, we didn’t see anybody when we were outside and it felt like we had a lot of privacy. It was a lovely place to stay, and I highly recommend it. You might want to bring some of your own towels though. There are enough towels for everybody to have one towel. Not enough the bath or a shower, and a hot tub.

Index river house
We really had a great week. Exploring hikes, lakes, the islands, etc. Everything is either really close or within an hour drive. Gorgeous views right outside the house. Bought groceries in Monroe and made all of our meals (no restaurants nearby). Kitchen well equipped. Only negative is I bumped my head on the ceiling going downstairs a few times before I learned my lesson. I am only 5'6" so maybe a warning or something as you are descending.

Beautiful house and close to some fantastic trails for hiking.
My family (8 adults) spent a week at the Cascade River House in mid September. We were traveling by air from Michigan and North Dakota, so the agency was very helpful giving us tips about the area. If you like to hike or climb, this house is in a great location. The hike to Lake Serene/Bridal Veil Falls is challenging but worth the effort. Many other trailheads in the area as well. We also spent a couple of days in Seattle during our stay--it's about 1.5 hours to the city. Not too many restaurants near the house--but many places to get coffee. Stop in Monroe for the bulk of your groceries. There is a smaller store in Gold Bar for things you forgot or ran out of or a smaller general store in Index. The kitchen and living area look newly renovated and it is gorgeous. We cooked most meals (as there are not many restaurants near by) but there is plenty of room for everyone to be in the kitchen. The hot tub has amazing views and the water was plenty hot despite the chill in the air. It came in handy after the hikes. Also, the outside heater/lamp was awesome as we spent nights out chatting on the deck or taking afternoon naps. We couldn't use the fire pit outside due to a burn ban, but the fireplace inside was just as good and cozy. There were a sufficient number of towels and a washer and dryer for our use. Everything for cooking was there, although it could use the addition of a large nonstick skillet/ griddle and some plastic storage ware. We appreciated the kitchen items provided like the spice rack, coffee filters and some coffee to get us started. We had zero bugs--no flies or mosquitos. We must have just missed them. There is a train close by that blows the horn as it goes by, even at night, but we got used to it. The sound of the rushing river gave us the best sleep we have had in awhile. The master bedroom has the best view and is very large with a fireplace in it. The other bedrooms are small, but sufficient. There are two bathrooms--one on the small side and a larger one upstairs-both were clean and updated and had great water pressure. Towards the end of the week, our hot tub needed some chlorine and after one phone call to the agency they sent somebody out promptly. If you are booking this place, bring binoculars (we did not and wished we did). We had Wi Fi and TV, but you will spend most time watching the river and view of the mountains. A very relaxing house for sure.

The best place for physical and mental rejuvenation!
Me my husband, and my 6 year old daughter stayed here for 5 nights and it was AMAZING!!! The check in process was very easy. The listing gives this property no justice! It’s much more beautiful in person. The cabin is right on the river where the water rushes, the sound is extremely relaxing! There is no direct access to the river from the cabin, but in Index across from the general store is path leading down to the river. The water is calm there and you’re allowed to swim. Near the cabin is the “back way” as the locals call it to Gold Bar, the ride in the mountains is beautiful and peaceful. The cabin is equipped with everything you need to cook with including spices and herbs. All you’ll need to bring are your clothes and food. We loved cooking in the kitchen. There was enough space for all of us to have our privacy and space to spend time together. There were a few very minor issues we had, but they were quickly addressed by the owner. We’ve stayed at several cabins here in Washington but this one is our favorite! We will be back in the spring! Oh..how could I forget the master bedroom?!! The view is EVERYTHING!!!! We never closed the sliding door nor the windows. The view and sound of the river is remarkable!

First Class in the Cascades
Stayed with a group of friends as a base for hiking in the Index, WA area. Property exceeded expectations, both in terms of scenery and quality of accommodations. We squeezed 8 adults into the property (it is ideal for 6), and had a blast. The location is great for hiking to Serene Lake and Bridal Veil Falls (both highly recommended, although Serene is quite steep). We cooked a lot and the kitchen is very well appointed. Beds were fine and rushing water made for excellent white noise to sleep by after long days of hiking. We all hope to be back! A few notes if you stay: The property is a poor choice for those with small children (we didn't have any with us, but several of us have young kids)...as the back dumps straight into a very fast-moving river. It is definitely appropriate for adults only. Watch your head in the stairwell! For some reason, it was build too short and you can easily bump the ceiling if you aren't aware of the issue. These are very minor issues. Property manager was good to work with and we thought it was a fantastic experience overall.

Magnificent beauty all around you!
Wow! What an amazing weekend of recharging the soul! This place was just what this family needed to get out of our quarantine rut! From the comfy beds and falling to sleep to the sound of the river to the wonderful hot tub looking out on the picturesque view of the river no detail was missed with this little piece of heaven! New listings always make me nervous but well done all the way around! I rarely return to the same rental twice but the view and the river we may just run it back someday!
