After being cooped up for 16 months during the pandemic, my first trip was to Alaska to visit my son and travel around the majestic state. Our drive from Anchorage to Homer along the Scenic Seward Highway was the single best drive I've ever taken in the US. It should have given me a tip to how wonderful the rest of the trip to the Homestead would be.
Moose Meadows cabin was absolutely adorable and felt like "home." Loved the three very comfortable bedrooms, super clean accommodations, and the moose decor everywhere. The living room brought a touch of family with Ruth Kilcher's red chair in a place of prominence.
My Marine Corps sister and friend Catkin and her son, Chef Tony, were the consummate hosts. We ordered Chef Tony's loaded potato soup and salad for lunch. It was so delicious you might even want to break your KETO diet! We laughed, told stories, and had the very best time four-wheeling around the homestead and touring the cabins, high tunnel family garden plot, and the beach with Catkin & Chef Tony. It was great mother-son time.
I can't say enough good things about our stay at the Kilcher homestead. We intended to sign up for some fishing or bear watching tours, but we had so much fun visiting our friends, that we never did that. We did visit the Homer Spit (yummy ice cream!) but other than that, spent our entire time on the Homestead.
Thanks Catkin & Tony for the best visit!
