Wonderful well maintained cabin in the woods. Private and well equipped with everything you need. Great place to decompress and enjoy the peace and quiet. Catkin is a lovely hostess and she made certain we had everything we needed including great directions. Will book again next trip to Homer

Discovering Homer Spit & Kenai Peninsula
The wooded setting is exactly what we were looking for and recommend anyone coming to Homer to stay in one of Catkin Kitchler Burtons rentals. We watched the tapes provided about the Kitchler family homesteading in Alaska and it was no bed of roses. Someone had to do it!

It was like home. Very clean, comfortable but secluded which is like us at home. Close enough to Homer for us to travel. Enjoyed riding the roads and looking at the scenery.

Peaceful getaway
The cottage was perfect for our needs. We loved the privacy yet close to town. The evenings on the deck were so relaxing. Had everything we needed to cook and do laundry. Would stay again in the future. Catkin was very easy to work with when I messed up our dates.

Relaxing family adventure
We spent a wonderful week here, it was conveniently just a short drive from all the activities in Homer, and the cabin was the perfect fit for the whole family. It is a wonderful and private place to relax after a day of adventures. The host went out of her way to ensure we had everything we needed for our stay (including some baby proofing items for our toddler). The cabin lived up to its name with a first moose spotting for mamgu (welsh for grandma) and tadcu (grandpa) on their first trip to Alaska from Wales, UK.

Gorgeous home, quiet area, perfection!
My family and I had an amazing stay! It suited us perfectly, We highly recommend if you are looking to be about 15 minutes from downtown Homer with very quiet days and nights and a large home to accommodate everyone. Great Quiet Home
This home was perfect for my family and Grandma. Grandma wasn’t very comfortable with the stairs but the couch was comfortable. We would stay again.

So glad you enjoyed your stay. You arebwleoxme back anytime! Stairs do get to be challenging for us grandmas - especially when getting up at night and needing to go downstairs! For future reference we do have a comfortable rollaway as well as the couch and the little cabin next door 50 feet away has a bed. Still would need to navigate the front steps when getting to the main house. We actually have a momma and baby moose that started wandering through too!

Great place to spend a couple days or a couple of weeks. Beautiful view. Perfect size for 4-5 adults. They had a fire pit w/wood, gas grill, charcoal grill w/charcoal, 1 full bathroom even had basic necessities. Beds were comfortable. Sitting area was spacious and cozy in both the living and dining room. Nice sitting area on the porch as well. Full kitchen with basic necessities as well.

Immaculate cabin with amazing deck space. Internet access even allowed my daughter to work on line! All the comfy beds are upstairs...and the bathroom is downstairs...frequent visitors be aware! We drank bottled water. But tap water was fine for everything else..w&d was greatly appreciated! Overall a great but too short of a visit. We would love to come back again.

Dream location with magnificent views
Moose lodge was an absolute gorgeous place to stay. Views were absolutely magnificent. We had a cow moose and her baby stay with is in the yard through out our visit. Catkin was an excellent host and made sure all of our questions were answered and was readily available in case we needed anything. The lodge was just as described but pictures did not do it justice.

Wonderful cabin home which my husband and I enjoyed. It was just as pictured, clean, cozy, and quiet. We had a minor issue with the key box but Catkin was quick to respond and resolve. Would definitely recommend. Only negative was nothing the host could change. I hadn't realized when booking that the bathroom was on the main floor, with 3 bedrooms upstairs. I have some knee issues & it was just uncomfortable at night to have to go up & down the stairs if you need the bathroom.

Homer Wedding/Fishing`
We stayed in Homer for a wedding and fishing. The location was perfect for us because it was in the middle of both events. The views are beautiful, the nature was perfect. There were moose in the yard when we arrived. The house was as expected, it was clean and ready to go. The water does have some iron in it. The owner was very responsive to text/phone calls so we were able to check in easily. Had she not been responsive we would not have been able to get in because access was not received via email though she said she sent it. We enjoyed our stay, and highly recommend this VRBO. We will definitely stay there again in the future if it is available when we need it. Thank you so much for a great experience!

Quiet, private, woodsy cabin getaway!
Staying at this property was great for our family! It was clean, cozy, and had excellent views! The deck was our favorite part! The only complaint we had was being asked to bring our trash to the local dump at checkout. It just added some extra driving time and time out of our already busy day. But overall it was an excellent stay!

BEST POST PANDEMIC TRIP
After being cooped up for 16 months during the pandemic, my first trip was to Alaska to visit my son and travel around the majestic state. Our drive from Anchorage to Homer along the Scenic Seward Highway was the single best drive I've ever taken in the US. It should have given me a tip to how wonderful the rest of the trip to the Homestead would be. Moose Meadows cabin was absolutely adorable and felt like "home." Loved the three very comfortable bedrooms, super clean accommodations, and the moose decor everywhere. The living room brought a touch of family with Ruth Kilcher's red chair in a place of prominence. My Marine Corps sister and friend Catkin and her son, Chef Tony, were the consummate hosts. We ordered Chef Tony's loaded potato soup and salad for lunch. It was so delicious you might even want to break your KETO diet! We laughed, told stories, and had the very best time four-wheeling around the homestead and touring the cabins, high tunnel family garden plot, and the beach with Catkin & Chef Tony. It was great mother-son time. I can't say enough good things about our stay at the Kilcher homestead. We intended to sign up for some fishing or bear watching tours, but we had so much fun visiting our friends, that we never did that. We did visit the Homer Spit (yummy ice cream!) but other than that, spent our entire time on the Homestead. Thanks Catkin & Tony for the best visit!

Excellent Home Base to Explore From
Moose Meadows was exactly as described and pictured if not better :) It provided a great home base to explore from while still feeling private enough for excellent rest and relaxation. The property is well thought out and was stocked with everything you could need for a comfortable stay. Checking in was a breeze with clear directions/instructions. You can easily explore Homer and nearby areas from the home. It wasn't too far to do a one day trip to Seward either. Our favorite part was the hike from Moose Meadows through Kilcher Homestead to the private beach; convenient, INCREDIBLE views, and educational all at once! The views from the deck of Kachemak Bay and State Park were lovely as well. Catkin's property is everything you could hope for in an Alaska getaway!

We enjoyed getting to see beautiful Homer from the porch of this home tucked away in the countryside with a spacious lot and views from the front porch. The home was clean and cozy with all the necessities and a full kitchen. It is a 10 to 15 minute drive from the spit- but a pretty drive.

We couldn’t have been happier with our stay at this beautiful home. Very clean and inviting. My only complaint is we didn’t book for more nights to sit on the deck and enjoy the view. We watched a moose cow feeding right off the deck both days we were there. Catkin recommended we book a ride with Trails End Adventure just at the top of the hill, and that will be my very best memory of Alaska.

The cabin was everything we expected and more, we got to meet the owner Katkin. She was a very gracious lady. The view of the bay and glaciers in the background were breathtaking. We really enjoyed the cabin at Moose Meadows. A beautiful, relaxing place. Comfortable beds and everything you could possibly need .Loved the deck with the beautiful view, and the little one room cottage out back was adorable. It would be great for a couple wanting more privacy. It was great to have Netflix to come back to in the evenings after our busy days of exploring Homer. It definitely exceeded our expectations!
