Great space!
We loved the cozy living room and amazing screen porch. There was plenty of space for our two young kids, us, and my sister! There was a huge and super comfy sectional sofa and a great fireplace that we made an awesome fire in with the firewood that the hosts left for us. We had a great time hanging out in the house since it rained most of the weekend and was pretty cold. When it did clear up a little, the view from the dock was gorgeous! Had we not had two small children and our dog running around threatening to go swimming when they didn't have the skills, and if it hadn't been raining, it would have been the place we hung out the most probably. It was set up for hanging out, with adirondack chairs and hammocks and a table for eating and playing games. Turns out, however, that the screen porch was a better fit for our chaos:) We also really enjoyed playing fusbol in the basement room. Plus they had a pack n play for our 1 year old so we didn't have to pack our own! One thing we did miss was that we had to provide our own linens, so we totally forgot that, but the owner was amazing and kind enough to let us borrow a set that they had and wash them in their washing machine. And he was incredibly responsive to all of our needs!! Soooo I'll leave you with this, don't forget your towels and sheets!!!!!!!!

Introducing our Lab to SML
This house exceeded our expectations. I say this reluctantly and at the risk that it will be booked up the next time we want to visit-and there will DEFINITELY be a NEXT TIME! I have been visiting (mostly day trips) SML all my life. LLAIF reminded me of how sweet this lake was in the early days before all the multi-million $$$ “castles” started springing up. The neighborhood was quiet, wooded, and perfect for walking our dog. This was our first visit with our Lab and this house was definitely the place for his introduction to SML. Nice cove right off main channel with spectacular long water view and a easy entry into the water for our dog. The house was nicer than I had anticipated being that it was “dog friendly.”-very comfortable and cozy-screen porch was AWESOME. Nice simple touches that many other rentals miss-extra towel racks in bath and hooks in all bedrooms and entry. The double sink vanity in the bathroom made managing with 1-bath very doable. Beds and couch very comfortable. Lots of room on deck with plenty of lounging chairs. We already have plans to return in July and we can’t wait!!!

Great getaway
We were looking for a getaway, not too far from home. We had a very nice stay at the lake house. If you're looking for outdoor fun and family time, this is a great spot. I loved waking up in the morning with my coffee and looking out at the lake. It was great to just walk outside, grab a kayak and go! We hope to return in the Summer and get some warm-weather fishing in. There is a marina very close by where you can rent boats and/or book fishing charter. The house had everything we needed, we really enjoyed it.

Great stay!
House was perfect size and in a perfect location just minutes from the marina where we rented a pontoon boat. Loved the house’s private boat dock area with swings and seating and the private beach on this property. The house’s boat dock was a great place to watch the sunset and see all the stars come out. House had paddle boards and kayaks too. Really lovely to sit on the big screened in porch overlooking the water!

Nice week overall
The house was comfortable overall but the bedrooms are very small and 1 very outdated bathroom for 4 adults was not comfortable. We knew about the downstairs bathroom but that became seriously annoying to have to go outside to access. There is no tub to bathe children. A full size mirror somewhere would have been useful. The back porch is wonderful. The owner is generous with offering use of household items and water toys. The sandy beach was nice for accessing the water, which got deep very quickly so great location for boating and swimming. We appreciated being able to bring our dog but didn't learn till we arrived that a neighbor's cat wanders the property all day, particularly the dock area. The cat is very friendly and our dog is not bothered by cats but others might be so it should be noted in the listing. The cat made itself comfy on chairs and towels left out, leaving cat hair to shake out so that would be a problem for anyone allergic. Additionally, the neighborhood is full of dogs, who bark a lot. One large dog swam in from another house to approach our dog and the toddler. He seemed friendly enough but it was a little unnerving to face a strange dog that way, with no owner in site. The dock has lots of seating but is mostly sunny so an umbrella would have been useful. Shoes are a must..the entire dock is in need of repair. Raised, uneven, splintered boards were a problem every step. Overall, we had a very nice week and thank the owner for sharing his home.

Had an amazing time at this property enjoying the spectacular view hanging on the covered deck and screen porch. We spent time swimming paddle boarding and boating with family. Lots to love about this location! Scott was a gracious and responsive host. All in all, a great getaway

Amazing lake proiperty
We had an amazing time at this lake property. House was very clean, lawn was clean, beach and dock were clean. The little beach was great for our 2 and 3 year old to play on. The shallow water entry was very helpful for little kids not experienced with swimming/deep water. We would definitely stay at this place again!

Nice little getaway
We were supposed to be at the beach but our plans chaged at the last minute. Wanting a change of scenery and to still get away for a few days we found this place. Nice cozy little home with lovely screened in porch. Great dock and small beach area at the water. Even though it was just two of us and our dog there was plenty of room for more! Bed rooms were somewhat tight and shower was small but most of your time will be spent at the water or in other areas of the house. We also enjoyed walks around the neighborhood and dinner one night at Mitchell's Restaurant & Pizzeria which is just around the corner at the marina.

Great place to share with family and friends
The house had all we needed to have a great time, the kids spent a lot of time on paddle boards and we had a wonderful stay enjoying the lake, watching movies, board games, the fire pit and the grill. The host was friendly and always responsive. Would recommend for sure!

Great Cabin/Lake Getaway
We really enjoyed our stay here. Owner was very responsive and helpful. Easy check in and departure. Dock, Lake and firepit area was where we spent most of our time. The Lake is so still and clean and incredible... Cabin is a little rustic by modern standards but fit the bill for the setting and was more than comfortable enough. As mentioned, load up on food and supplies because it is a bit of an inconvenience to get that once you settle in, and there aren't many places to eat or drink at. Once at the cabin you don't really want to leave anyways. We did spend a day walking the dog around the state park which was a 15 minute drive and that was worth it and we enjoyed. Overall a really cool lake house and would recommend if looking at this area.

Perfect Vacation
This was a perfect week of vacation! We had everything we needed in a clean home! There was a small beach area in the backyard with easy walk-in into the lake (our dog loved the lake more than any of us!). The dock was the perfect way to stay in the shade and still enjoy the lake! I’m pretty sure we will be back!!! Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us!

The home was very comfortable. Activities in and around the house suitable for all ages to enjoy. Renting a boat was easy. I recommend booking boat early in the spring to reserve what you want when you want it. Docking at the house was easy. I also recommend that everyone in your party bring an awesome float. The house has canoe and paddle boards. Thank you to Scott for letting us rent your cute cottage, it was just our style. I also appreciate great communication!

I can’t say enough good things about this property and rental experience. It was my very first time using VRBO and it was seamless! The host was a great communicator. The home was the perfect size for my family of three plus our GSD. The screened in deck was so spacious and looked righ out onto the lake. The water was crystal clear and you could just walk right in. The dock had a table and chairs plus built in benches. The view was amazing! The neighbors were friendly. We felt like we were in our own little haven. It was great to be able to use the canoe and life vests. Next time we will stay longer and rent a pontoon boat. The marina is literally around the corner from the house. I can’t thank Mr. Hall enough for sharing this gem with us!

September Stay at Lake Living at Its Finest
My very first contact with the host was exceptional. They forgot to add the fee for pets and when I inquired they said that it was an oversight and waived the fee from my honesty. The house was cozy, clean and comfortable. It was in a quiet neighborhood and the location on the lake could not have been better. The main reason for going to Smith Mountain Lake was to fish. We were able to keep our boat at the dock which was so convenient and much appreciated. The boat ramp to launch the boat was literally one mile down the road. We were able to park our boat trailer on the property with no problem. It was so nice to walk down to the dock, board the boat and go fishing. The cove the house sits on was near the dam and the fishing was good. It was wonderful to be able to do laundry and the kitchen and grill were easy to use. I can't say enough about this place and the host. We will book again!

The Great Mountain Getaway
Nothing at all negative to say. What a wonderful time and memories we had at your home. Thank you so much for making it available. Kitchen was well equipped with anything we needed. Having the gas grill was great, used a number of times. Screened in porch was nice, drank my coffee every morning enjoying the view from the porch. Swimming off the dock, and floating on our rafts was so relaxing. Also enjoyed the fire pit one night. We got our groceries in early Monday morning ( nice having the second refrigerator in the basement ) and never left the property again. I could go on and on, but to make it short, we had a fantastic time. Thank, Henry, Janet, Jenny, Kira, and Addisn.

Great place to stay while in SML!
Great place to stay overall! Loved the location and the house. Fully furnished, open layout and comfortable living space. Everything we needed was there and more. Super convenient to our favorite spots on the lake.. Our family had a great time using our jetskis and our boat all week with the comfort of the dock.. Swimming off the dock and fishing was my kids favorite past time! We highly recommend staying here.

Great laid back lake house.
Wonderful week at SML with our adult children and our grandson. Booking was smooth and house was very comfortable and well stocked for cooking. Entry into lake was very nice giving a sandy area or the dock to jump or climb on the ladder. The fire pit made a fun s’mores night. The gathering space is perfect for a large group and the dining table is very spacious and seated 7 well. The second bathroom downstairs worked fine for us. You do have to access the downstairs from outside but it was fine. Being able to bring pets was truly wonderful! No complaints from this family! Many 🙏

Wonderful Place to get away
We had a incredible time at Smith Mountain Lake. The time spent with family surrounded by a beautiful lake, a private dock to sit and enjoy the view, a deep side in which we were easily able to maneuver a boat (even thou we are amatuers), made it a little slice of paradise for a short time. The owners were very receptive to any needs we had as well. The only thing I would mention is that the house needs some updates. We didn't cook alot as we brought my daughters two infant twins. If we had, the kitchen wasn't able to handle alot of cooking and clean-up. Also there were no electric outlets in the bathroom. A little money invested may make this the 'perfect paradise'.

The home is very quaint.There is no tub for little ones.
The basement is only accessible by going outside. The owners are ready to help if there are any questions. Overall, the home is great! We had a great week!

Awesome Stay at SML!
We Loved the entire experience! The house was wonderful - especially the openness and the screened-in porch/deck - and the water/deck access was perfect. It was very private yet the neighbors we met were so friendly. Great area for walks without a lot of traffic. Groceries & restaurants are a bit of a drive away, so stock up, but no need to go anywhere once there! Everything was very clean & we felt so comfortable. Highly recommend!

Space was decent for 2 adults. Bedrooms very small. Bathroom was tired and needed update. Maintenance on property was fair, broken bottle, trash left in outdoor cans, 1 fan didn't work, no handle on fridge. Was not reflected in photos or description. Feel was overpriced as a result.

We were so happy with our rental! The place is very cozy and the location on the water, in a cove, was wonderful. Sitting on the dock, looking at the lake and mountains, was delightful. Our dog enjoyed swimming. We really enjoyed ourselves. Would love to go back next year.

Location, Dock, & Views!!
Had an amazing visit. The house was perfect for what we needed. Two families of 4 fit perfect. The screened in porch was great. But the location on the lake, the dock, and views from the dock were unbeatable. Plan on staying here again in the future.
