A bit special

Posted Jun 19, 2014
Pros: We liked this hotel because it was a bit different and certainly special.
Cons: Bettr diretions would have been helpful.
Location: We used it as a stop over during a longer journey.
This was a bit of a surprise. Initially hard to find, its location overlooking the valley is superb. Lovely old rustic building but with good medern facilities and friendly service.

Lovely old building in a convenient location

Posted Jun 3, 2014
Pros: Lots of character and friendly staff
Cons: See above
Location: Five minutes drive from the centre of Amboise
Overall we enjoyed our 4 night stay at this hotel and would recommend it. However, we were in the annex and although the room was big and had lots of character we were sorry that it had no tea and coffee making in the room and had no mirror other than in the bathroom. Also the shower was just hand held over the bath. For the money we would expect more. The restaurant meal was an excellent fine dining experience. Not cheap but worth the money. We felt that breakfast was overpriced. Only a standard buffet albeit with quality ingredients and the only cooked item in the price was scrambled egg. If you wanted anything else cooked it was available at extra cost.

Cute little chateau just out of town. Service exceptional. Rooms quirky with great facilities. Restaurant expensive but worth every cent.

Everything about our stay was good. I didn't get peeved about anything, which is rare. Beautiful peaceful grounds and nights rest. I would return again. Breakfast was expensive, but very good.

Nice and relaxing Chateau

Nice location near Amboise. The property was very nice and the staff very helpful. My family of four had plenty of room too. The dinner downstairs was very enjoyable and a treat.

Nice Chateau

Nice Chateau and appreciated having been upgraded as wife could not walk up several flights. On the other hand, we were disappointed that the restaurant was not open that evening.

The hotel itself is perfect, great chateau, comfortable room, good facility, you name it. However, it's a little bit far away from everything, better have a car for staying there.

Cute, pricey, and a little arrogant

Posted Oct 2, 2013 on Hotels.com
The location of the hotel was wonderful, only a short drive to the cute little town of Amboise and near enough to major roads to get to many of the classic chateaus (Chenonceau, Villandry, Chambord, Chaumont). The "petite chambre" was pretty small, but clean and not uncomfortable for a 4-night stay. It's a very nice little place, though many of the staff we encountered were a bit on the arrogant side. They are very proud of their Michelin-star restaurant -- and indeed, it is quite excellent -- but how about a little "welcome" before informing us that we can't possibly eat there tonight, tomorrow, or the next day, as it is fully booked. Also, if you're restaurant is that busy, why should you have an issue with hotel guests who might want to picnic on the grounds? I understand not wanting food in the rooms, but people have to eat somewhere. We don't regret staying there, as it's difficult to find a nice place sight-unseen from another continent, but if we knew the area better there were other options that would have been friendlier and much, much less expensive.
