Lovely staff but worst night of my life!
Nice rooms, amazing staff, relaxed atmosphere, great view and a short drive to shoal bay beach! I wanted to love this hotel but there were so many things that made this one of the worst stays ever. I wouldn't consider myself high maintenance and I'm usually easy to please so I was quite disappointed. The room does not have a/c unless you pay more, which I believe is $20/night. It seemed silly that the room, at the rates they charge, didn't have air conditioning included. We were advised that the rooms are quite comfortable without ac as there is a ceiling fan and a nice breeze at night...WRONG it was unbearably hot, worst sleep of my life, if I even slept at all! Even with absolutely no blankets, no clothes, all the windows open and even the door, we were dripping sweat. The showers were another issue... the water smelled awful- I wouldn't use it to brush my teeth or drink! There was zero water pressure, literally drops at a time from the rain shower head...and only one temperature, hot...which doesn't feel nice on a sunburn or on a day where it's 95 degrees out. The pool is also run down, which I didn't mind as the beaches in Anguilla are amazing!! Wifi is also and additional $20 or so a night. So in my opinion after all the add ons of wifi and ac you may as well stay at a fancier resort for the same price of ~ $200/night.

Very nice people
The hotel consists of a few cute cabanas. Dual level - One room per level. They're not the newest, but we found our room to be clean and breezy with a nice view as we were upstairs. (You pay extra for aircon) The water went a couple times while showering, but it came back within a minute. It's run by a lovely lady and her family who were gracious and friendly hosts.

Homey and relaxing
We had an awesome time here----not luxurious but clean and had everything we needed. Loved Maria (the innkeeper) and her daughter Natalie--very gracious and accommodating, willing to drive guests to nearby beaches and make meals according to their guests' needs. By the time we left we felt like friends of the family. Would definitely return. Just be prepared for a more rustic, relaxed experience a bit off the beaten path, which has its pluses and minuses.

Worst Hotel Experience That We Have Ever Had!
Upon arrival we were appalled to realize that this hotel looked so different than the internet photos and description! We wonder if the photos were taken many years ago as apparently the Inn has now fallen into disrepair and is no longer cleaned and maintained. The surroundings were cluttered with junk, the paint was peeling on all boards and fences, everything was rusty and boards were falling off and missing. Due to a recent rain, the young man that help us with our bags had to sweep water from in front of our room door, but nevertheless deep water still settled there because the balcony floor was sinking down, so we had to drag our suitcases through water. Upon inspection of the room's interior, we noted thick amounts of hair on the bathroom floor, mold behind the sink back-splash, rust and corrosion on the bath lights and toilet paper holder, dirty shower floor and curtain. There were distinct stains on the pillowcases and linens, mold and thick dust on the rattan headboard, ceiling fan with layers of material peeling off (we were afraid to use it as material was falling down on us), two view windows that you could hardly see out of due to heavy stains and thick mold, (hadn't been cleaned for quite some time). The toilet almost overflowed twice and the shower wouldn't drain well. Since the place was not sanitary and the internet did not represent it accurately, we asked the manager for a refund. She refused.. and so we had no choice but to leave anyway. We were very unhappy with Arawak Beach Inn and not comfortable staying there because of all the dirt, mold and disrepair. It is a shame to see such a place falling apart.

Fun stay, staff is great!
My girlfriend and I stayed there for a couple of nights as a little prelude to our St. Martin vacation and we were both very happy. I would recommend this to any of my friends. Overall, we felt very safe and well taken care of. The style is very beachy and simple with all of the necessary amenities including a bar and restaurant. For the price bracket this place is in, I think they do a great job. Everything is as advertised. We had an Oceanside room and it was right by the ocean and we could hear the waves all night just like we wanted. Keep in mind, this isn't beachside; you're only 20 feet from the ocean, but the terrain is rocky. Although in our room they weren't in "like new" condition, the room had all of the amenities you would expect in working order. There are other rooms with nicer amenities; we were in one of the more economy rooms. Maria (manager) and her staff are very polite, knowledgeable, and more than willing to go out of their way to help you. They were extremely nice and were able to provide us with great suggestions of places to visit on the island. No matter what price range, style you prefer, or region of the island, they knew what they were talking about.

Quaint yet very Disappointing. Misled by photos.
The photos are misleading. They mostly represent the two newly renovated rooms that were not occupied and were not given to us. I think it is a grave injustice to misrepresent what is actually being offered as that constitutes false advertisement. Not only did we get two rundown rooms but the bathrooms were not clean. They were actually filled with mold on grout and caulking. We had to ask for cleaning agents before we could even set foot in the shower. Do not be misled by the photos. The renovated units are not the ones being offered on Expedia.

I didn't know quite what to expect...but as the taxi weaved through a winding trail that was straight out of a storybook I became more intrigued. A close friend recommended the Arawak for a quick getaway and I figured what the heck. The pastel colored rooftops made me think that maybe I was having a "Alice in Wonderland" moment. I was greeted by Maria, who reminded me of a favorite aunt, she informed me of the meals that were served, and additional amenities that I might like. Since the greeting was A+ I started to doubt what the accommodations might be like. To my surprise, the room was huge with a king size bed that was one of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in. I could lay in the bed and directly in front of me watch an amazing ocean view. At night the sound of the waves would put me to sleep. A great place to visit over and over. The only bad part is that I had to leave. The food at the cafe made me gain weight and Maria is the best hostess in the world!

Maria & her staff were wonderful people. We told them we were there for my husbands birthday weekend. The next day we went to the restaurant & they had baked him a birthday cake. Location not correct in review.
Hotel was listed as in "The Valley" close to the airport. It was not. It is located at Harbour Island which is about a 20 minute drive from the airport. The exterior of the property needs some work but the room was clean and satisfactory. The management was great and the food in the restaurant was good. Overall good value and staff great!

Bad Time in Anguilla
We arrived - to find a pleasing pool. The pics on the internet are misleading - there is NO beach ! Our room was on the 2nd floor - and the unit below was being renovated ALL DAY and into the night - we had to complain twice to get it to stop finally at 9pm. The food was bad - they had a seafood stirfry one night - the seafood was microwaved ! NASTY. and the prices are very high. I would have expected some sort of concesssion by the manager for the noise we had to endure - but none was given.

Fantastic stay on a fantastic island
This was close to the perfect hotel...greeted by the very friendly owner (Maria) with a beer, this hotel has a great level of hospitality. Add to that very comfortable rooms, brilliant views over a fishing village, and within walking distance to spectacular beaches. On my favourite island in the Caribbean, I highly recommend Arawak Beach Inn

The manager Maria is a sweet person! The hotel is very cozy. You have to go up a stairway to get to the room, but the view of the balcony is amazing!!! They are reforming these bangalos, when they finish it, it will be perfect. It has a nice swimming pool and it´s easy to park. The room has an enormous bed and the TV has tons of channels. The only bad thing is that sometimes its very windy, so there is a lot of noise at night.

Great Service
Our stay at the Arawak was very enjoyable. The Arawak is a very comfortable and casual hotel in a convenient location fronting a small, pretty beach. The staff was excellent, most especially Maria, the innkeeper. I have never experienced better service from a hotel. The Arawak will now be the only place we stay when visiting Anguilla.

Fun place. Vintage but lots of pluses, family run, nice people, good food, rooms comfortable and all face the ocean. Charming but not the high end chic experience of the West end of the island. We liked it and would stay again. It is 20 minutes drive to the other side of the island ...and we liked being out on the east end.

The average reality
I've stayed here for 4 nights. I purchased the cost months before my arrival, but when we arrived, our room was quite hot and they (would like to) chareged 20USD/night for the AC remote....what made me upset. They have WIF connection in the reception room, costs 30USD/week. The room furniture and the equipment was average. The staff was helpful so I can recommend this hotel, but watch out for the 'special' costs.

Awful
The room was dirty ...pool seemed to be an above ground connected to house..rocky beach..but the safety was the major problem. The security guard showed a phone to pick up and it dials him direct but it's about a ten minute walk from your room and he's at his house wherever that is. He said since he's hired it's much safer. But he leaves at 830pm. I couldn't sleep I just had such an awful gut feeling..very scary there to me. I met another person at shoals bay who stayed there years ago and other guests actually cried seeing the place. The locals laugh when you say your staying there but no one speaks up...I'm American and this would be similar to a hostel..at best..beware!! I think these other reviews are made up people.

is not safe. They did not give me the reservation I made online and when you book this Hotel they will make you pay all that they want such as, saying that this room is upgrade, making you pay for the air condition, remote for TV and for air condition are to be paid by the customer, yet, they don't say it on the web. The owner of the Hotel is not as good person as you expect. Maybe they think it is their hotel and they have the right to do whatever they want without thinking about their customer.

Best ""Cheap"" hotel in Anguilla
If unpretentious and minimalistic is fine for you (like it is for us), there is no better deal to be had then at the Arawak. We were glad there was no phones and no fuss. The experience was not unlike that of staying at a friends house or a relative except with a million dollar view on the best island in the Caribbean. WHo cares how nice the room is (or not), Anguilla is about staying out of your hotel and exploring the island. The staff and proprieters are great people like the rest of the islanders, and the cafe and pool attached you'll find you have all to yourself off-peak. You can't get a better deal for an oceanfront resort on the island. The money you save staying here can be used on the islands fine beach bars and restaurants, renting a car to seek out every nook and cranny, and rum punches!!!!

Response from General Manager on Feb 18, 2017
Unfortunately out electricity is very expensive, so to keep our rates low, we do not include air conditioning in our basic rates (except for Premium Rooms). Since our property usually enjoys cooling breezes, many guests prefer to pay less and sleep soundly to the sound of the water lapping on the shore without air conditioning. However for those guests who want it, it is offered for a small extra charge in our Deluxe category, and this is fully reviewed on our website. We regret you apparently did not know this, but may we suggest that if it is essential to you that next time you consider one of our truly lovely Premium rooms where air conditioning is included (along with many other extras, such as robes and in room coffee and free phone calls to major countries from our reception at certain times).

We very much regret that your short one night stay was not to your satisfaction. We strive to provide our guests with the very best experience and value for money, and pride ourselves on offering very personal service. Innkeeper Maria did call you personally upon your arrival to welcome you even though she was off property, and completed the only request you had that we arrange a car rental that was delivered to you immediately despite not being pre-booked. She planned to see you at breakfast the next morning before your checkout at 11am, but unfortunately you left earlier that you had indicated, before breakfast, so she missed you. We honestly believe if you could have stayed longer, you would have appreciated why so many of our guests have different and more positive impressions of our little Inn. We hope you will return so we can pamper you, and have you leave with better feelings.

Eerst teleurstellend, liegen extra betaling beter.
Hierdoor moesten we 2 nachten zonder keuken verblijven.
