Nothing's better than spending time beside the sea. Round up the family, organize a picnic and enjoy the fresh air at Jetty Beach.

Outdoor adventurers find plenty to do while visiting Jetty Beach, with watersports and playgrounds just steps from the sand. That’s not all though, as the sandy area is right in the heart of Coffs Harbour. Swim, surf or simply relax then choose from nearby restaurants and coastal pathways to explore the surrounding attractions.

Plan to stay all day at Jetty Beach. The 0.9-mile-long (1.4-kilometer) sheltered strip of white sand is framed by a picturesque jetty and equipped with all the amenities you need. Accessible facilities include a beach mat and beach wheelchairs available for use. Pick a perfect patch of sand to soak up the sun between activities.

Jetty Foreshores Park is located behind the beach. Cycle along the pathways or zoom around on rollerblades. Settle in for a picnic at shady tables with barbecue grills for cooking fresh, local fish. Children love the colorful playgrounds and large grassy areas for running around while you’re preparing lunch. If you prefer restaurants, head to Coffs Harbour Marina for a choice of scenic venues.

Coffs Harbour Fishermen’s Co-op is a popular spot for fresh seafood accompanied by picturesque views. From the marina, wander along the pathway to Muttonbird Island Nature Reserve, where you’re rewarded with panoramic views. A stroll along the shore takes you to the Southern Breakwall for additional views from the 1,152-foot-long (351-meter) jetty. If you’re looking for waves, head to nearby Gallows Beach and North Wall Beach.

Book a boat trip to discover Solitary Islands Marine Park and dive or snorkel with a variety of marine life. Alternatively, go dolphin spotting or join whale-watching tours between June and November as the large mammals migrate along Australia’s eastern coast.

A short drive away is Coffs Harbour’s iconic attraction, the Big Banana. The huge, yellow banana landmark provides a backdrop for memorable photos amid a working banana plantation. Join a plantation tour and visit the fun park for mini-golf and toboggan rides as well as banana treats.

Park at the dedicated Jetty Beach lot or take an easy walk from hotels surrounding the center of town in Coffs Harbour.
