Bamboo Huts
The resort had power shut off daily from 10am till 3pm. The safety box did not work. Area to store clothes very limited. The resort is approx 30 yrs old and appears to have nothing done since built. The walkways to cabins are very primitive with very few handrails and some areas the walkways were near high drop offs. The walkways were very scarcely illuminated and wiring was spliced and tapped together and laying across walkways along with water pipes creating trip hazards. I would not recommend this resort as place to stay .

The best thing was the location near the sea and between two nice beaches. You get your own private beach which isn't too busy and the water is just perfect! Breakfast was great with a generous variety and the staff were always willing to help. Chamchuree villas and bamboo huts are same reception, same breakfast. Highly recommend!!

Okay but over priced
It was really far from restaurant and town. There weren’t enough signs for directions to get to restaurant or town. However you can request car from meeting point to reception area. I wished they replaced face towels daily. I had to wrestle with safe to open and close it.

The location is great! Very secluded and private. Yes there is a lot of walking and stairs but the location makes up for that. We didn’t have any issues with bugs or anything. The huts were clean and spacious. Location was good. It was a very close scooter ride to many restaurants. The beaches by the hotel were okay, very rocky so I would suggest going to another beach away from the hotel.

Buyer Beware
Hotel was uncommunicative and less than helpful and accommodating from the start. I sent repeated E-mails about ferry and shuttle service to the island and property. Upon arrival via ferry, I could not find the shuttle driver. Upon check-in, I was informed I would have to change rooms my 2nd night. Totally unacceptable and disruptive particularly since it was a smaller unit with fewer amenities. The compensation? Two massages, worth practically nothing. The new unit did not have washcloths or hand towels and they were not sent when requested. There are only select times their shuttle will take you to the ferry. And do not take their advice on ferry schedules if you need to catch a flight in Samui. Their timetable almost caused me to miss my flight as the ferry runs habitually late. I would not advise booking thru a 3rd party like as you have no protection against such bait and switch tactics. Beautiful property but greatly lacking in terms of hospitality and service vs the rate.

Quiet isolated huts in beautiful surounding
Had good time there. They provide free snorkeling gear and can rent kayak for small. It’s true about walk up and down to breakfast and lobby but that goes same for most of Koh Tao.

Run down dump
I have no idea why this place has 4.4. Where do I start. Anyone reading my other reviews knows I'm very fair and never have I given a "1" before. Unfortunately the place is completely dilapidated and the photos are 20 years out of date. The place itself is a chore to get to by road and, even when there, is a long long walk to the bamboo huts. The road is unlit and strewn with debris, litter and detritus. The staff at reception were really nice but other than that building the other places were in total state of disrepair. Most facilities (spa, etc) were closed or even collapsed in a heap of rubble. The bar area was miserable and unwelcoming (shame as was on the beach) and the lounges were filthy and the beach littered with rubbish and plastic of all ages and states of decay. The room itself with its outside bathroom was lovely. The view was to sea and the sound of the waves was fantastic. Just a few steps down to the sea and snorkelling- not advised on rough sea days due to the rocks. The room had a large comfy bed with mozzie net, fridge, good mini bar and fruit and water. Couldn't fault this. The dining area was also rundown and the buffet breakfast was terrible. Mainly inedible bits and bobs covered with flies. Foul coffee and some kind of super-sweet orange cordial. Not good for $200 a night. We were really disappointed and left after just one night even though we had booked for a week. Luckily Expedia gave us a full refund after a telephone call to them.

Amazing Experience, Spectacular Views
Stayed here with a friend for two nights and was blown away. The resort is pretty big so you will need to walk if you want to see it all and it's only a 10 min walk into town. But there is a private beach where snorkeling is included in the cost. The view from the bamboo huts was breathtaking, unlike anything I've ever seen. It was also nice because the huts are located in their own little cove area, so the only sounds are of the waves hitting the rocks. The actual huts are perfect for a relaxing getaway, no extra frills in the room that aren't needed. The outdoor bathroom area was spacious and a plus. The room had mosquito netting for the bed, which is always a good thing, but didn't really face any problems with mosquitos during our stay. Overall, highly recommended and would stay here again for longer next time.

Must love Hiking
We stayed here for our honeymoon and were planning for something romantic and not involving much exercise/hiking. We stayed there the longest of all the guests 8-9days and were put in the farthest away room. It was not a fun experience. We would end up drenched in sweat before we got to the lobby. Finally rented a motorbike to cut down some of the walk. The room we had didn't have a phone connection. We asked for it to be set up at least four times and it was never done. We wanted this for getting a car to the half way mark and room service reasons. I ended up hurting my room half way thru our stay and couldn't hike to dinner. Our roof leaked in four places every time it rained which we told them and that was never fixed. House keeping didn't clean our room for the first 3-4 days even though we had the sign out every day. The staff did not understand English very well and would say yes to everything without every following thru on anything. You have direct access to water from you room which is great but the stairs are EXTREMELY slippery and trash would show up in the water every other day. The one thing that they did help on was when my husband left his tablet they shipped it to someone we know in Thailand so he could get it back to us. It took about a month to do this though because of "Time change" and someone was in our room so they didn't have the key to the safe or something.

LOVED The Bamboo Hut!
I wish I could have stayed longer. It was lovely staying in the bamboo hut. We were able to snorkel right outside our hut, the hut itself was great. Very clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I definitely recommend staying here. I would come back in a heartbeat.

Convenient, very new
A few minutes drive into busy Lamai this is a good quiet base. Nice brand new bungalows, plenty space. Only complaint is that the breakfast buffet is poor - it goes to 10.30am but if you arrive at 10am expect most of the food to be gone and not replenished; plus the strangest one I've seen - you have to cook your own eggs, which is just awkward with everyone milling around 2 hot pans trying to cook eggs in the middle of the buffet. Lazy, especially when the staff are just looking at you and not helping.

Excellent Hotel
We stayed in the BB3, the view was exceptional, the pool was large and the room was cleaned to a very high standard every day. The hotel is located up some quite steep hills, so we hired out mopeds, for simple and easy routes of getting to and from the pier for close by restaurants and bars. What a lovely way to end a night by jumping in to your own private pool! The hotel have 2 dogs on reception also, we fell in love with these! It was just a pleasure to stay and we would definitely return.

Fantastic hotel with great snorkelling
We stayed in the Sunset suite which was amazing. We walked into an INCREDIBLE view, with a good sized room and a sweet bathroom that was set into the rock of the hill. We could literally walk down next to our place and go snorkel which we absolutely loved. It is not to far away from the town, however just realise that it can be a trek from the bamboo huts to anywhere- be fit! Their were some places you could stay that were not as much of a walk, but we were one of the farthest huts out. Highly recommend the staff (service was fantastic) and the food at the starlight restaurant kept us coming back with great food and reasonable prices. We would 100% return and stay in the same spot. I reckon it's one of the best positions on the island.

Short 2 night stay, friendly staff, transfer to/from the pier and even arranged for our next hotel to collect us. Hotel away from busy area so very relaxing, however many steps to/from reception and room (they have a car that can take you half way if you are in furthest huts). Lovely restaurant for both breakfast and dinner. Private beach, great for snorkeling but lots of shells in sand.

Luxury in the jungle
We stayed in the Hut with private pool, this is well worth doing. The views are stunning and the location is beautiful. The huts are a little walk (through the jungle on a footpath) to Mae Head town but the location is perfect if you are wanting to relax. The huts have a private beach and beach bar which is great for snorkeling. The staff are so helpful and kind.

The location of the hotel is great, it is not far away from the main pier but your still on your own with direct access to the water. The bamboo huts is a partnerhotel pf the charm churee villas, the breakfast, reception etc. is therefor at charm churee. This was not comunicated beforehand. Since koh tao has many very steep hills it is a lot of up and down between the huts, the beach, the reception. Small pathes, beautiful through the jungle but probably not easy for everyone to walk. We had bamboo hut number 12. It is big and nice but the room wasn't as clean as you would expect regarding the ratings and especiallz the price. Towels with holes, sheets with strains and old mosquitos on the windows. It is run down and the staff doesnt seem very motivated to change this. A shame. Overall we still had a great stay since the island is so incredibly beautiful and the view from the bungalows just makes you forget everything. We rented a motorbike and would totally recomend this to get around the island. Taxis are expensive and not easy to get everywhere. Hope this review helps other to decide! Overall I think you can find better for that price on hoh tao and would not go back to this hotel.

Fantastic views!
We spent 2 nights in the huts and the view from our room was just incredible looking out onto the sea. There's also a great little bay where you can go snorkeling free of charge. Simply rent the equipment and sign your name before returning the equipment. The water is clear and we saw some beautiful tropical fish. The room we stayed in was spacious, air-con, great shower and bathroom. This hotel is in the middle of the jungle and i therefore warn you to be prepared to walk. All the rooms are spread all over the area. Town is just 5-10 minute drive and costs 300 baht to get there by taxi. Once in town, you can rent a quad-bike or a standard motorbike for around £2 a day! Be prepared to leave a deposit or your passport. Highly recommended!

Incredible experience
We were originally planning to stay here for 3 nights but extended our stay after the first day because we loved it so much. Our hut was right on the water and tucked away in the rocks. It took about 10 minutes to walk from the reception to our hut but it made it all part of the experience. Jansom bay was a 5 minute walk away and was absolutely incredible. The restaurant was also very good. Bamboo huts made our experience at Koh Tao amazing. We loved the rest of the island too. Highly recommend Bamboo Huts!!

52 year old dad and daughter
i was travelling with my 17 year old daughter. She was apprehensive about staying alone in the hut i ordered for her. I saw the manager and they upgraded us to a wonderful verandah villa with adjoining rooms on the sea-not on the front on the sea. Everyone working here is excellent. It is a little rustic but for me that is the appeal. I definitely reccomend this place. Only 1 down point -the steps. I know members of my family would not be happy with the climb. If you want to be on the sea in an unspoilt hilly island you have to give up some comforts-it's worth it.

A slice of paradise.....
The huts are amazing, beautiful setting and beautiful views. Very quiet but only a 15 minutes walk to the port where there are plenty of great places to eat. There are two hidden beaches within a five minute walk which are lovely. The accommodation was excellent, obviously you are in a bamboo hut but the bed is so comfortable and the outside shower is also great. Flowers in the room, air conditioning & the view in the morning when you wake up is worth the money on it's own. The staff where very helpful and picked us up and dropped us at the port with no cost. We stayed in one of the rooms with a pool, highly recommend this for the extra money. Ignore all the reviews about the walking, if you don't want to walk for 15 minutes away from the various hotels, don't book. Fabulous.

The location and bamboo huts themselves are amazing, but what amazed me first about this hotel was the amazing customer service. They have a great staff, but I would like to especially thank Khim for making our stay outstanding. There was a driver awaiting our arrival at the port the morning we came in, we were fortunate and did not have to wait until the afternoon to check in, and when we saw the room we immediately decided to extend our stay and booked a few additional nights. The waves lapped at our bedroom window and we had the most amazing snorkeling on the island right outside our private sunning deck. It was heaven. In addition the food at the restaurant was good and they even provided room service.

The Bat Cave
Beautiful location. The bathroom is 'open air.' Unfortunately mine doubled as a literal bat cave at night. Every night several bats hung from the ceiling and used my bathroom as their bathroom. It was really gross. Getting up to use the bathroom in the middle of the night was terrifying and gross. Also, the restaurant isn't very good. The staff is lovely. It's secluded and one of the most beautiful locations I've ever been to though.

Amazing Experience
Both Koh Tao and Bamboo huts much nicer than expected; very quaint, beautiful scenery, relaxed and charming. Ferry was half an hour late and our taxi driver was not around to collect us, but once we phoned to say we had arrived, the driver came to pick us up within ten minutes. We were taken straight to the reception at the resort and luggage taken straight to our room while we checked-in. Manager took us to our room showing us the resort on our way, and introducing us to staff members. This was very helpful, as it immediately gave us some bearings and friendly faces to rely on. The bamboo huts are situated in the rocky cliffs, so can be a tough walk to get anywhere, but everything else outweighs this as an issue! Room was very pleasant with a fantastic view of the sea and sunset from the balcony. Main beach on resort is Jansom Bay; a lovely beach with crystal clear blue water, palm trees and tropical fish. Food on the resort is of a very good quality. Scenery and setting of the Starlight restaurant lovely. Breakfast in a nice setting with a bespoke omlette chef made the best! Price for food and drinks is very fair and broad ranging. All the staff on the resort were very friendly, helpful and naturally courteous.

Stayed for 3 nights, didn't want to leave.
Stayed in late February for 3 nights of our honeymoon and this was definitely the highlight of the trip. We're in our early 30's, looking to relax, snorkel, eat, drink, and enjoy nature. LOCATION: Super easy to get to with free shuttle pickup to and from the ferry. Amazing from-the-beach snorkeling to your left (nice walk to Sai Nuan beach... secluded, clean, beautiful) and to your right (Jansom Bay... super close and with a bar/cafe right there). In 3 days, we felt no real need to visit the town, but did book a day trip to Ko Nangyuan because we wanted to see it (the onsite dive center happily arranged this for us and it couldn't have gone smoother). THE ROOM: Plenty of privacy to enjoy incredible sunsets from your huge balcony and outdoor shower. Super comfy with A/C, fan, flatscreen TV (no need unless its raining), stocked minibar, and a big bed with mosquito net. We had no real issue with bugs, and any ambient sounds (lizards, waves, boats) just added to the experience. AMENITIES: Speedy room service, beautiful views from both restaurants, nice bar, good food, onsite dive center, spa (great outdoor or indoor massage), friendly staff, quick/convenient car service from huts to reception. Bit of a hike to get around but truly lovely, paved and well-lit, so no complaints. We both had a really wonderful time and would love to stay again.

Paradise
Our room was much larger than expected, had its own deck with sunbeds (totally worth paying extra for the upgrade) and had all the amenities you need, while still being very rustic. It's the perfect combination of luxury and nature. Yes, the walk to the breakfast restaurant is about 10minutes, but we loved the adventurous path through the jungle (plus a little extra exercise on vacation never hurts). The beach (Jansom bay) has the perfectly clear water and was never too crowded, even though we visited in high season. The water is very clear and having the reef right there makes great snorkeling without taking any extra trips. The breakfast was pretty amazing and had variety of thai and western dishes, with delicious fresh eggs made to order. We were surprised by the service and amenities of this level from a 3 1/2 star hotel. It's truly one of a kind place that deserves only raving reviews!

Just a wonderful time over the water!
The Bamboo Huts are a fair walk out of town, but totally worth the effort! Their breakfast buffet was tasty and fresh, and the staff were very attentive. Even if you don't stay here, try a romantic dinner at Starlight, the restaurant. It's just beautiful and has delicious food! I would hesitate to recommend Bamboo Huts to people with mobility issues, as the walk through the jungle is full of stairs with not many rails to hang onto. I would definitely stay here again, though!

Charming and romantic!
We were in Bamboo Hut 17, which is nearly the farthest from the hotel's main public areas. It was so romantic and had a wonderful view! My only hesitation would be if we had our mobility limited, as the walk through the jungle is quite hilly. The restaurant was fantastic for a romantic dinner, and breakfast was always fresh and had a good selection. We would love to stay here again!

Fine bambushytter helt i sjøkanten
Fine store bambushytter helt i sjøkanten.
