Property Amenities

Tucked away in Southwest Texas between Big Bend National Park and Big Bend State Park lies the exquisite 27,000 acre Lajitas Golf Resort and Spa. Our Resort in West Texas is set among the Mountain vistas and the borderland majesty of the Rio Grande River, the resort’s unique destination is rich in Old West history; complimented by the rugged luxury and superior service of a first class hotel. Breathtaking sunsets, savory cuisine and an abundance of activities to suit all ages are hallmark to your experience at Lajitas, a place where Comanche Indians and Pancho Villa once roamed, cowboys sat around the campfire, and miners enjoyed whiskey at the local Trading Post.

With over 6,000 square feet of indoor meeting space and over 25,000 square feet of outdoor private space, the resort provides opportunities and ample accommodations for any type of program. A unique destination, offering exquisite amenities and service to create a memorable experience for you and your attendees. It is also the perfect wedding destination! A setting of unmatched beauty on the banks of the Rio Grande and a perfect venue for every wedding theme, from classic elegance to old-fashioned Western or outdoors among the Texas stars. Lajitas opens it's semi-private, stunningly unique 18-hole championship and 9-hole Executive length golf course late September 2010. Blac Jack's Crossing, designed by Lanny Wadkin's and has challenging fairways set against a rugged backdrop. Golfers won't know whether to look at the greenery or the scenery. It is a BIG course worthy of the Big Bend. With seven breathtaking mountain holes and one spectacular desert mountain vista after another, the course itself is a literal work of art.

The Equestrian Center is proud to have two National Cutting Horse Association Professional Trainers, O.K. (Kim) Estes and Katherine Hoadley. Each has the ability to train a horse from the first ride to the finished product. Clinics and Lessons are available for the novice rider to the expert rider. Boarding Facilities are also available. Trail Rides provided by the hour, ½ day, full day or even overnight will allow you to explore several scenic areas of Lajitas. With over 27,000 beautiful acres and Big Bend State & National Parks, you could ride for days and never see the same trial twice. A must see and do is the ride to Stargazer Mesa, Buena Suerte Mine and Ghost Town, all in the tradition of the Old West. In addition, try your hand at Cowboy Action Shooting and Five Stand (Sporting Clays) The course utilizes eight automatic traps to simulate game birds such as dove, quail and pheasant and even a bolting rabbit across the ground.

“Elegant getaway.”

If one wants to get away from it all, this is the spot. At the end of the US earth in the bowels of the Big Bend of Texas. And, since it is Texas, one can expect charm, character, great views, excellent landscaping, and great food. Comfy rooms in the hotel or in casitas. No elevator in hotel.

“Great Time”

Aside from finding th eregistration from the parking lot, check-in went smoothly. SInce we were there during off season the hotel felt like we had it all to ourselves. The room was grat. although the stairway to the second floor was a bit daunting. Still - the exercise was good for us. The experience was great, the hotel staff was most helpful and the area is fantastic. If you are not driving a four-wheel drive vehicle, I would recommend a guided tour. We had all day in Big Bend with a very knowlegable guide at a very reasonabile rate. The best reccomendation of all - we look forward to coming back.

When to go
If you want the area to yourself, go after New Years until Feb 14. The summer - (very very hot) visitation drops off as well and for a much better reason.

“Work-In-Progress”

The hotel is coming along nicely. The grounds were still under construction during our stay - golf course was still not open, the fountains were drained, landscaping was being changed out, spa room was dirty. The pool was clean and in operation. It will be interesting to see how it evolves after all of the construction and preparations are completed...was told September 2010. The service was friendly and the overall quality of the hotel was very good. They picked us up at the local airport 5 miles down the road. Call in advance to be sure they know your coming if you fly in. The restaurant is as many of the reviews state - kind of pricey for what you get and service is slow...seems to be minimal staff. Food quality was decent. They will fix you up with a horseback ride or river raft trip at the front desk...nice feature. There seems to be good, hard-working and committed folks running the place now.

“Great stay”

We enjoyed our stay. The room was beautifully done in western decor, the restaurant was delicious, and the bar was wonderful! I especially loved the L'Occitane bath products--nice touch.

Area recommendations
We went to Big Bend of course, but I recommend a side trip to Fort Davis to see the fort and the Mcdonald obsevatory.

“Nice hotel, dut needs mainatance.”

It was a pleasant stay, however the restarant services were dissapointing.... It was very slow, and the food was average. The pool was in a poor condition - the water was not clean and there were no towels. Otherwise the location and the design of the hotel was nice.

“Big Bend”

AC didnt work. Took two other rooms before we found one that did. Also, we had tried to book a 2 bedroom suite and were told none were available. when we got there the place was almost deserted. Just a handful of people were there. All the suites were empty. When we asked why, we just got a dumb look. Maintainence was terrible. Lamps where out in multiple locations. Globes missing in the hall ways . Place was run down and that should not be when the rate is high per night. Resturant was mediocre at best..

“Great hotel in the middle of nowhere”

Lajitas is a great hotel/resort if you aren't a needy traveler! The setting is lovely, the rooms are nice, clean and comfortable and the staff is friendly and accomodating. However, if you are a traveler who requires a lot of activities, dinner options, or other type services, then this isn't the place for you. The setting is beautiful but it is remote. If you are spending your days exploring/hiking in the beautiful Big Bend National Park and would like a nice place to lay your head at night with a nice restaurant/pool/room then this is your place. When the golf course and other restaurant reopen, there will be additional choices. Take this place as it is and you will enjoy it but if you want a lot of shopping, activity, dinner options then go back to the city!

“Nice, but not well run”

We visited in early March. Hotel not crowded, looks like a ghost town in the resort area. Staff seems confused in hotel and rest. The food is pricey, and you don't get what is described on the menu. When we asked waiter, he just didn't seem to know. The pool looked clean, but the 2 days we were there it was closed and staff did not know why. Hard to get ice in your room. No ice machines, you need to walk across street to get it fromt he front desk??? This is beautiful resort, but it does look like it will make it.
