I was looking forward to staying at this location because of the expedia listing, its location and views. It was disappointing. From waiting 2 hours for raw food, to being given the wrong room and then debated w as to whether I should get the more expensive room, to not shown my room, etc.

I had to wander the building for 10 minutes to find the owner and it wa by luck I found him. We arrived in early April and it didn’t seem the place was ready for business. The restaurant was closed and some of the hall lights didn’t work making it dark to walk around.

This is hard to review. It is certainly in a pleasant location (and a short drive to Ljubljana) but no shops around or restaurants within walking distance when we were there in October which meant a drive to the local town where there was an excellent restaurant for dinner (a highlight of our stay and one of the best meals in our four week trip) but breakfast was hard to find without local knowledge or assistance. Perhaps we could have organised breakfast on site but we didn't. The room was basic and we knew this when we booked. It was certainly bright, clean and nice and warm. Glasses instead of plastic cups would have been nice. Hosts welcoming and friendly. Only issue was that the place was a bit noisy because the stairwell is very open and tiled and we could hear the guests next door. It was not a major problem unless you are noise sensitive.

Perfect for us
Excellent place, a bit outside the city, quiet and cozy. Great if you have a car. We were on our way to Pula, so this definitely fit our purpose. Price was great, and the gentleman up was nice and polite.

Zaplana? Yes!
Outside of Vrhnika and quote close to Ljubljana you book very pleasent hotel with high standard. Good place for winter sports and summer walkings and good place 2 explore middle and western Slovenia. The owner was very pleasant. I recommend it .

Stayed for 1 night as a sleepover. Great value for money. The bed was huge. Very tidy and nice area. You have to drive up about 15 minutes from the main highway, bu the view was worth it.

This was a very comfortable, clean bed and breakfast. I would recommend both family and couples to give this place a try it was a very relaxing place to stay and the hosts were very accommodating. It was worth the drive!

Family run guest house in beautiful location, 10 minutes drive from local town and 20 mins drive to Ljubljana .. rooms clean and modern, patio area to some of the room S so wake up to beautiful view. Breakfast was continental choice some home made food, also it is the local inn so do evening meals too, overall , smalll friendly clean , great value

Nice hotel far from anything
The hotel is a real gem if you are willing to stay at least 20-30 mins from any restaurants or stores. It's located in a very small and peaceful village on top of a mountain. The front desk manager is very helpful, the rooms are quiet, clean, and comfortable. The hotel has a restaurant and bar with a limited selection but ok for 1-2 nights. The price is very competitive for this area - perhaps because you are in a remote area. I would recommend this as a jumping off point to Pulu or Rovinj in Croatia or Ljubljana or simply as a place to escape the crowds and relax.

It is a family run hotel.
This is a family owned lodging. It has been in family for over 70 years. They were very accommodating and offered information as to where to go and what to see. Their food in the restaurant is delicious and all grown/made by family. Family speaks English, a little German, a little Spanish, and a little Italian.

Friendly house in the hills!
Friendly guest house with a bar and restaurant serving good local homely food. Quite remote and beware Slovenia is not in 'Western Europe' on Tom Tom and garmin services on satnav! You need one that covers the whole of Europe!!

My family of 5 extended our 2 night stay because it was such a beautiful location and the accommodation was so clean and comfortable. Great family atmosphere. Highly recommend this accommodation, would love to go back.

This family-run guesthouse works for at least 70 years so those guys have some routine in the tourism business. For a reasonable price you have a light, clean, spacious room with fridge and enough room to pack your stuff. Inside decors are nice. We had a cool terrace looking onto the alpine fields and forests. As the building located in a small village, everything around is quiet and tranquil. There is no safety box in the rooms but in the village they don't even have fences - public safety is quite good there :O) There is a restaurant in the guesthouse with good food and atmosphere. Breakfast is correct, for 10 EUR you get a full table of food, just great :O) It is a very good accommodation, recommended.

Good Hotel - but watch your head!
We were in the hotel just one night - a stopover on the way from Vienna to Croatia. Whist being a few km up some twisty roads from the main nearby town, it was an attractive, small village location. Service was good and the food reasonably priced. Our accommodation was in a new part of the hotel and was modern, clean and comfortable. We had a family room on an upper floor, therefore with sloping ceilings. My only complaint is that three times when approaching the double bed I banged by head on the low slope of the ceiling. Probably the room in question was not really suited for a double and two single beds. Floor space was ok but the problem was that low ceiling slope - and at 5 feet 8 inches I'm not a tall person.

A little remote but great quality for the price! A breakfast for a king, with a large variety of foods with very good coffee and the best homemade jams I ever had. Modern amenities and overall a wonderful experience.

Very nice little place with spacious rooms
The room we stayed in was very spacious and clean. You won't reach this place easily unless you have a car, but it's very well located for visits to Postonja cave and lake Bled (within 1 hour of driving). The restaurant was closed when we arrived, but the lady in charge was able to open it just for us. The food was really nice and reasonably priced. The whole family running this place was so nice and helpful.

A quiet place after a day of sight-seeing.
Guesthouse Mecec is a very pleasant and enjoyable B & B / hotel in a small village in the hills south of Ljubljana. If you want to get away from it all, this is the place -- very quiet and rural. Since we had a car, it was easy to drive back into the city (18km). (You need a car!) The family who runs the hotel was very nice and helpful; we enjoyed talking with them many times while eating one their delicious schnitzel dinners. The room was quite comfortable, even without air-conditioning. Hot water in the mornings, however, was an issue -- lukewarm at best. Breakfasts were good and offered more than enough. We enjoyed our stay there, and as we left the grandfather invited us back.

What a wonderful family feeling.
I only wanted to locate the house where my grandmother was born. This family helped me immensely...driving and translating for the better part of a day. We had a good time, and were taken care of very well. Our only complaint was the heat, and no screens on the window.

Alright room, no heating, little service
There was no reception even at the given check-in hours. We didn't have any check-in, the key was just given to us without much explanation. The common areas seemed nice, but we were just staying overnight so couldn't use them. The room had no heating.
