Overpriced but fab staff

Posted Apr 27, 2015
If I'd have paid half the price for this hotel I would have been delighted, but at central London prices it was a real disappointment. However all the staff were fantastic.

Good price hotel for London

Posted Mar 20, 2015
Pros: Cleanliness, and quiet for London, so we had a really good night's sleep.
Cons: The towels smelt a little musty, so perhaps some fabric conditioner could be used?
Location: It is in Zone 3, so you have to change trains on the DLR at Canning Town (if coming from Bank), so it takes a little extra time to travel.
I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel - the price is really reasonable for London. Okay, it's a little bit out of the way being Zone 3, and it's about a 10-15mins walk away from the station, but it's worth it for the price and the quality you get. We stayed in the annex, which is a few doors down, but quiet and clean. The rooms are quiet, clean and modern with en-suite showers. We were also offered free water and juice, as well as a breakfast in the morning. While we didn't wake up in time for breakfast, we were allowed to take as much fresh fruit as we wanted, when checking-out, which was really really kind! The guy we checked out with was really friendly, well-spoken and genuinely super helpful, while I think the guy that we checked-in with, the night before had some language issues, so wasn't as friendly. However, they allowed us to check-in a bit later, which was useful, since we were attending a friend's birthday drinks in central London, so we were out late. Also note that whilst booking online, they only take payment in person. It is a 5% charge for cards, so might be worth remembering to pay in cash?

Great value and good location

Posted Mar 9, 2015
Pros: Great value for money. Friendly staff. Very clean rooms.
Cons: More information about eating out and things to see in the area. I'm sure the reception desk could have given us this information if we had asked but
Location: Stratford not far away for shopping etc. London city close by car too.
Not the biggest hotel and largest room we have ever stayed in but in terms of value this must be one of the best. Its near enough to central London and City Airport but in a quieter area. We parked our car directly outside the reception doors. Our room was small but fine for a one night stay. There was not a lot of places to eat out in the surrounding area but Stratford was only a short distance away. The hotel has a small kitchen area where you can get extra coffee and milk for your room plus water, fruit and fruit juice. You can also use the facilities to warm up takes aways etc. The room and hotel were very clean and we had no problems. Breakfast was cooked (english breakfast) or cereal, toast. It was good quality and was quickly served at our table. We would certainly recommend this hotel for its location and value.

Misleading web site - not borne out by the reality

Posted Mar 7, 2015
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Fix the points 1-4 listed above
Location: Walking distance to the Excel Centre. Taxi needed to get to restaurants, etc.
1. Hotel looks ok on the web - the reality was different and I had to double check the building before getting out of the taxi as it looked so different to what I expected. 2. At check in, I was asked to pay again even though the email from Expedia clearly showed that I had already paid. This was repeated the next morning on check out and only resolved by a call to the Expedia support team..... 3. My bathroom had a really bad drain smell that persisted all night... 4. There was no dining room - just a few tables alongside the check in desk. 5. The room itself was ok - nothing special but clean.

Wohnen im Annex1, Zimmer im Erdgeschoss.

Posted Mar 4, 2015
