“Looking forward tostaying there again”

The hotel is located in a quiet neighborhood. However, it is within close walking distance to the underground, Oxford Street and the British Museum

“Close to what's happening, yet quiet”

I may overestimate its proximity to London Hot Spots because I don't mind walking at all, but it is quite close to the British Museum and a short walk from the Picadilly Line which is convenient for coming in from Heathrow as well as getting about, if you don't like to walk. The staff was friendly and got me into the room slightly early so I could stash my rucksack. The only problem was that the shiny new shower required MASSIVE effort and strength to turn the water on. Just beware (if this matters to you) that you only have shower/sink and not a loo in the room, and that there is no lift. But I would recommend the place!

“Restful Lancaster”

The Lancaster was charming, the staff very helpful and polite it was clean, quiet and quaint. True the toilets are outside the room but there were so many of them it was only a couple steps away and I never saw another person using them. Its also true there wasn't an elevator but the staff would bring bags up if you asked and the stairs were great exercise after 10 hours on the plane. We had garden rooms which were delightful. Its a lovely place to spend time in while in London.

“A good deal for the location and money”

Would definitely recommend this hotel to others IF you're interested in spending less for your accommodation so you can spend more in the city. There are a few inconveniences (like no elevator but not a big deal if you're in good health, no toilets in the room but ours was just about 10 feet away from our door and we never saw anyone else using those toilets). It's not a luxurious hotel by any standards but it's clean and safe and inexpensive especially compared to most other places. Location is great. We walked to many places but also used the Russell Square underground station which is quite close. Overall, no complaints. Great place if you want to use your room to sleep and get ready and spend the rest of your time exploring London.

“Good for over-night stay”

Hotel was in a good location - close enough to walk to all things that visitors typically like to see. Room facing the back yard was large, clean, quiet and comfortable. The only thing missing was a real bathroom in the room. There was a sink and shower awkwardly built into the room but no toilet bowl. For that you have to use shared toilets (very clean and new). This is because the builing is likely from a Victorian age and was not originally set up for modern plumbing. Overall, this was a good hotel to stay overnight or even for a couple of days. Since hotels in London are generally expensive, this was a good price/comfort/location compromise.

“Fine Hotel for the Price”

No lift and the toilets are in the hallway. But the hotel staff were very ready to carry our bags up. The hallway toilets were very clean, and we never had to wait to use them. Shower in the room--make sure that you're not shy having your roommate see you shower. Aside from the these small triffles, this hotel was perfect for our stay. Near Russell Square and the British Musuem. Good breakfast. Efficient staff. Excellent value for the price in the best part of London.

“Pretty good”

The Lancaster was a good place to stay in London. It is not as centrally located as we would have hoped, but there were two Underground stations that weren't too far. The room was very clean and a comfortable size for two people. The shower is right in the room, but the toilet is down the hall.

“Great location; excellent service; priced right”

Great location -- close to Russel Square tube stop. The hotel staff was friendly; the hotel clean. The shared bathroom was right down the hall from our room which was quite convenient. Didn't hear noise from other tenants. On site restaurant and room service which I did not take advantage of, but it is there if needed. Overall had a very comfortable and enjoyable stay. Would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay there again.
