The hotel and staff was great!

Posted Oct 6, 2014
The hotel staff was great! They called two days prior to check in to confirm what time I was arriving and did I need ground transportation. The registration agent met me in the lobby, gave me a tour and registered me. Tony the head valet who has been there almost 30 years is fantastic! Pretty much everything and anything you ask for they will accommodate you.

Superb hotel - expensive and worth it

Posted Sep 27, 2014
Pros: Service, food quality, excellent room comfort and amenities, and central location.
Cons: Nothing.
Location: Easy walk to the Thames and major bridges, Covent Garden, theaters and fine restaurants. Easy to catch a cab at the Savoy or Tube for anything else
From the moment you arrive, and the top-hatted doorman orders your luggage removed from the cab while a finely suited attendant walks you to the quiet space where check-in is managed, every detail of service at the Savoy is equal to - and usually a notch above - what we have experienced anywhere. Of course, the room was perfectly appointed and every comfort exactly as one would expect. We'd leave in the morning for touring, and return late afternoon to find everything perfect. Then come back after dinner to find a totally freshened, restocked room with all the turn-down details attended to. One evening we called ahead for a table at one of the hotel's restaurants. We arrived to be seated at one of their best tables, and greeted by a server who was already knowledgeable about our key food and beverage preferences. Throughout, a service person might ask our room number just once, and then everyone who served us during that meal or other need would address us as Mr. and Mrs. xxxx. Order our coffee or toast a particular way one morning, and the next day's server would know our preference. Today there are many fine hotels. But unless you are on a VIP list or a frequent visitor, service at even the finest is often impersonal and indifferent. This is where the Savoy really shines - treating even one-time tourist visitors like us as if we were royalty.

The Savoy

Posted Sep 5, 2014
Pros: Staff exceptional. Ambiance. Dining superb. Location. Entrance Hall/Lobby stunning. Bathroom marble. Art Deco furniture.
Cons: The "City view" stated was disappointingly straight onto yet another boring office building.
One of the "must-try" hotels. London's famous & opulent Savoy doesn't disappoint (well, apart from the room view) & is one of the best located in the city. Expensive & expansive. Fabulous for foodies.

Savoy Experience

Posted Sep 4, 2014
Pros: The layout, location, comfort, staff and general helpfulness of one and all.
Cons: An iron in the room?
Location: Just a 5 minute walk to the tube and trafalgar square. Good breakfast and lunch time eating nearby. Just a block from Covent Garden and the theatre.
Refurbished and outstanding in every way. Traditional English Luxury as only the English know how to do, with quietly efficient and helpful staff. None of the tip seeking of the American continental hotels and none of the pandering to attend more dutifully of the upper end Asian Continental hotels. This is the way it should be done. The rooms are large, pleasant, adequately hi-tech and comfortable. The dining was excellent in Gordon Ramsay's Savoy Grill. Centrally located, it does not come much better than this - unless you like the pandering!

Lived up to and Exceeded its reputation, amazing!

Posted Aug 31, 2014
Pros: The friendly and impeccable hotel staff.
Cons: Simply nothing, it's perfect.
Having stayed at many 5 star hotels around the world previously none of them even come close to the quality, standard and the experience of staying at this Great British institution.

Spoilt rotten

Posted Aug 30, 2014
Pros: The staff were outstanding. The decor is lovely. Whole experience was fantastic
Cons: Nothing
Location: Lovely location near the Thames. Can easily reach all the tourist locations within London by using the Thames Clipper, Tube, taxi or walking.
Fantastic stay. Staff go out of their way to make you feel special. Nothing is too much trouble. Room was lovely, although no view. Bed was one of the most comfortable I've experienced. Food in both restaurants was amazing.

Luxury in London

Posted Aug 18, 2014
Pros: The staff, the ambience, the decor, the room, the swimming pool, the breakfast.
Cons: Free Basic Wi-Fi, & Tea/Coffee Making Facilities in room could be provided. 5-star Grand Hotel Eastbourne, where we had just stayed, has both
Location: Within easy reach of Covent Garden, Soho, the West End, the City & the South Bank and of art galleries, museums, restaurants, shops & theatres.
Our experience of staying in the Savoy for the first time was very agreeable. The check-in (with Paula) was both welcoming & informative. We loved our Art Deco room & bathroom with their mirrors and tiles. The young lady attendant in the hotel's health centre was friendly and helpful & we enjoyed swimming there early in the morning. Breakfast in the Thames Foyer proved copious and tasty & and the service and surroundings were congenial. The young man who checked us out was efficient and pleasant.

Couldn't fault it!

Posted Aug 4, 2014
Pros: Service was second to none. Food very good. Made to feel special and the staff couldn't do enough to make sure we had everything we needed
Cons: Can't think of anything
Location: Well situated close to the South bank (London Eye, Aquarium), Trafalgar Square, Leicester Square and Soho - all within close walking distance.
Everything about the hotel was special and they made a special occasion perfect. Have already booked to return later in the year. Cheaper hotels available obviously but you get what you pay for!
