The room was beautiful - classy decor, great attention to detail, and openable windows with seats to enjoy a warm morning. Coffee and tea stations on every floor with complementary drinks and biscuits, a cut above the usual sachet of instant coffee and kettle. Comfortable bed. The hotel is a short walk from Farringdon station, so it’s a great location.
Where the hotel was let down was breakfast service. Breakfast wasn’t included in our room rate but we decided to eat there. Big mistake. The kitchen is viewable from the dining room and I could see the chaos going on despite the fact that it wasn’t very busy. I could also see our breakfast resting on the pass for at least 10 minutes without the lamp being turned on to keep it warm. I had to ask the server to get the kitchen to redo it. Outrageously, I was charged £14.50 for a small scattering of cold tofu and 5 asparagus spears, garnished with a teaspoon of dried chilli flakes.
