Lovely hotel, nicely appointed

Posted Aug 9, 2014
The hotel is lovely and the rooms are pretty with very nice bathrooms. The two things I did not like are having to pay a hefty fee for wi-fi and no free coffee in the lobby

Upscale Value!

Posted Aug 3, 2014
We stayed at this hotel for just one night, wanting a break from NYC. Was greatly surprised at the luxe room, contemporary yet comfy and peaceful. The hotel has done a really nice job upgrading their rooms in their renovation. We definitely will come back for the quality of our stay, the on-site amenities (including an outdoor patio bar which we were not able to take advantage of) and its proximity to NYC.

very nice hotel but...

Posted Jul 14, 2014
Pros: expedia
Cons: the 2nd room charge can be taken off my credit card
Location: the area is excellent, lots to do nearby, walk to restaurants.
I book with expedia gave the check in clerk my information at check in and they billed my credit card for a one night stay. So now I paid for the room twice. very disappointed with that. also the pool and gym were under construction. I brought my granddaughter there for an overnight stay and we were going to go swimming:(

Overrated Hotel

Posted Jun 30, 2014
Pros: Food at Polo is excellent as is service.
Cons: See above
Hotel recently renovated. Apparently forgot to adequately light rooms, bathroom has no counter space for toiletries, air conditioner loud and inefficient, toilet flushes itself repeatedly, no wash cloths, no fan in bathroom, TV did not include stations to watch local baseball teams, pool closed for renovation, no complementary coffee in morning but you can pay $4.00 per cup, and new outdoor cafe right off busy street is just silly - they're on Long Island, not Puerto Rico.

Very nice!

This hotel is likely very pricey normally, but it was under construction during my stay (not disturbing at all!), so the price was half of Marriott. It was excellent! Clean, comfortable and very fancy. I hope I can get the same deal in the future. Highly recommended.

Accommodating but pretentious

Posted May 18, 2014 on Hotels.com
This is a nice hotel that fancies itself to be much more than it is. Price is on the high side for the region but there is not much competition in the neighborhood. The staff is very friendly and courteous, almost overly so, which comes off as somewhat insincere, as if all of the employees were reading from a script. The most significant disappointment was no hot water for my first morning's shower. The problem was fixed by evening but no accomodation was offered to compensate me. That evening, the hotel was invaded by a bus load of lacrosse players who were up to all hours making noise. The restaurant is outrageously over priced and the food I had there was mediocre. I found much better food and prices at restaurants nearby. I doubt I will ever stay at this hotel again.

Beautifully Redone

Pros: Rooms, staff, food
Cons: Renovations could be finished, but will be soon
Location: Beautiful Village with grand homes, unique shop and varied dining choices. Can catch RR to NYC or go to fabulous ocean beaches in short drive.
The Garden City Hotel has recently undergone extensive renovations. New rooms are very spacious with extremely comfortable beds, modern baths and a large seating area. Bar, restaurant are top notch. Can walk to many excellent shops and restaurants in Village of Garden City, a gorgeous upscale neighborhood.

Nice house

The hotel is very beautiful. We hit them at a bad time for check-in, and waited a half hour, because people kept cutting in front of us. The man at the desk was very apologetic and gave us free internet and a late check-out. Sadly, the internet didn't work that night, and at exactly 11:00am the housekeeper knocked at the door, expecting us to be out-- the late check out message was not conveyed to the rest of the staff. Room service shuts down early, and there isn't really anyplace nearby to get food. The place looked beautiful, the bed was divine, the pillows were heaven. Like most modern hotesl, no bathtub.
