Verder prima verblijf!

Distrustful of their guests

Posted Apr 15, 2015
Pros: Central location
Cons: 1) Respect for their customers. 2) Replace safe with model with a keypad that does not rip customers off! 3) Room did not smell right
Location: Near Callao plaza, underground subway entrances, coin laundry.
This hotel is in a central location near the Gran Via, albeit in a somewhat seedy area. Unlike the rest of the hotels that we stayed in Spain, this one insisted on charging upfront for the first night. Additionally, again unlike the rest of the hotels in Spain, they have you sign a receipt for the breakfast buffet. Overall, you get the feeling that they distrust their guests' ability to pay or even their honesty, and their policies are guided by this fact. If you are used to being treated with respect, don't stay here. Additionally, their safe requires the insertion of a Euro every time you want to lock it! So before you open it, you need to make sure that you have a Euro coin available to lock it again. Once again, we had not encountered this situation anywhere else in Spain, where the use of free saves with keypads is the norm.

Anni 80

Struttura antica. Andrebbe demolito e ricostruito.

Center of Madrid but quiet at night

Posted Apr 7, 2015
Pros: Central location/side street. Staff incredibly professional, discrete, intelligent. Nice linens. In room safe (1Euro coin). Great lobby/waiting room.
Cons: Speed of elevator. I ran upstairs to 6th floor (7th Americans) because I didn't want to wait for the elevator. Layout of breakfast area is awkward
Location: Several restaurants including Chinese, Arab. "El Pajar" for Spanish food/fish, olives, paella - 1 minute walk around corner. Librerias. Shopping.
We stayed 3 nights. Madrid is easy to walk around and this hotel is 5 minutes from major shopping area, 10 minutes from Plaza de Espana , and about 15 to a very large park. Metro stations within 5 minute walk as well. The beds were nice and the room was clean. Our room faced the interior offering no view and a little light and air. The bathroom had no ventilation, although it was clean and nicely finished. It is sort of far from the Prado and that area of the city, but a lovely walk, with many gorgeous side streets and wonderful cafes. It took us about 2 hours to get back to the hotel from the Prado, but this included 3 stops - one for coffee, one to look at art being auctioned, and one for mussels/calamari/croquettes, & many photos. The breakfast room is L shaped, and the current layout makes getting around difficult when crowded. If they moved the wait staff /coffee and serving area to the back right and inside corner part of the "L", where the service doors are located, it would be much more efficient for everyone including employees.

Good location, a bit basic.

Posted Apr 2, 2015
Cons: Hair dryers are past it. Safe costs a euro everytime you use it which can be inconvenient. Wifi was a little inconsistent in the room.
Location: Near to Gran Via and metro. Some good tapas bars close by. If in Madrid for more than a few days consider getting the train to Segovia for a visit. It
Good hotel in a convenient location near Gran Via. Staff very helpful and friendly. Breakfast fine with continental style and fabulous tortilla. Rooms ok for a few days but wouldn't want to spend longer in one. No bar but you can sit in comfortable lounge at night and they will serve drinks. Would be more than happy to return.

Superlage, megasauber!

Posted Apr 1, 2015
Pros: Zentrale Lage!!!
Cons: Nicht an diesem Hotel!
