Nice hotel ideal central location

Posted Jun 9, 2014
Pros: Well designed, excellent breakfast and comfortable rooms.
Cons: It would be handy if the staff could speak more English
Location: Close to the main shopping area, lots to see and do within a 20 minute walk from the hotel
Rooms comfortable, excellent breakfast and ideally situated. However ask for a room not on the front. A cobbled one way street outside the front is used for access by taxis and vans and can be noisy from early morning. There is also a night club next door which doesn't seem to close until 5 in the morning on Thursdays and week-ends, and people mill about outside and can be extremely noisy.

Central Madrid

Posted May 29, 2014
The Maria Elana Palace Hotel is excellently located in the center of Madrid and near two metro stations. It is within walking distance of the Museums, Plaza Mayor, Plaza Santa Ana and Huerta. It is a fantastic location for theatre lovers. There are two metro stations within one block. The Calle Aduana is a quiet street right off the Puerta del Sol. The hotel staff were friendly and so very helpful and for this alone I would return. The lobby is very inviting and a great place to sit and relax between excursions. Breakfast was good and the Mep Restaurant is supposed to be very good, but I did not eat there. The rooms were clean but a bit in need of an update. Definitely a good experience.

This hotel is in a great location in Madrid. Right in the city center but down a side street so away from all the late night noise. Reception staff not very friendly on arrival so we decided not to use the hotel for anything other than sleeping. Beds very hard! (2 small double beds) and Spanish bolster pillows instead of 2 pillows on each bed. Main reception and bar area comfy enough. Lots of great places to eat and drink in the city center and beyond. We could eat breakfast for 2 outside the hotel for the price of breakfast in the hotel for 1!

The stay was ok. I was disappointed in the condition of the room considering the price we paid.

Hard Beds, No Iron, Very Limited Room Service

Posted Jul 28, 2013 on Hotels.com
Claims to be a 4-star but is more like a 1-2 star. Avoid. Not all rooms have TV's in bedrooms. What reception exists is like watching through snow. Wifi doesn't work from Rooms - very unrealiable! The beds are like bricks. There is no in-room iron and you cannot request one. They have ironing service but starts at 9am which is too late. No in room coffee making machines. Very very limited room service for meals except for drinks. Really really avoid!

Great location, but not 4-Star

Posted Jun 16, 2013
Pros: Location, location -- very convenient to Madrid Metro, Plaza Mayor, Puerta del Sol. Rooms were shabby, but clean. Quiet.
Cons: Customer service -- was told laundry would be back in one day, but it took two; staff inattentive and not always helpful. No Kleenex or toiletries.
Location: Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor, Plaza Ana, theaters on the Gran Via, Metro stop a block away; can arrange day tours to places like Avila and Segovia.
Stayed five nights and enjoyed the location, but was disappointed in lack of amenities and the sometimes grudging behavior of staff.
