Tryp Washington.Posted Jun 30, 2014
Pros: Close to everything you would need to be near to.
Cons: Actually have double beds rather than 2 single beds pushed together
Location: less than 2 minutes from the nearest metro stop (Plaza de Espana) and walking distance to the Puerta del Sol and the Royal Palace.
My girlfriend and I travelled to Madrid for the 1st time and stayed in this hotel. The location was perfect! Right on the Gran Via, less than 2 minutes from the nearest metro station and a little supermarket less than 5 minutes walk. Our room was the opposite side to the Gran Via (facing some residential properties) and therefore our room was lovely and quiet. The breakfast was typical continental with a range of hot and cold selections. The reception staff were all friendly although some of them had better English skills than others but we can't grumble. The only slight disappointment were the beds. We were meant to be staying in a double room which, to us, is not really 2 singles pushed together. This may have just been our room and this happens increasingly often in hotels these days. Overall I would definately recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a city centre hotel to explore the city.

Excellent LocationPosted Jun 30, 2014
Pros: - Location (right in the middle of Gran Via) - Breakfast (good variety) - Clean (room, bathroom, ..)
Cons: - Wifi did not work during our stay (we had to connect through the lobby) - Don't be alarmed by the condition of the hallway, rooms are good
Location: Excellent location, with plenty of shops, restaurants, metro station, cinema, bus stops (...) nearby
Excellent location - everything is close by (food, metro, bus, touristic sights, shopping, ...) Good hotel - rooms and hotel match the pictures that you see. Its a 3 star but its clean and neat. Would definitely stay there again - providing they fix the wifi connection issue. We could not connect from our room and had to go to the lobby which was slightly inconvenient.

Basic but comfortable hotel near centre and metroPosted Jun 11, 2014
Pros: The location and value for money.
Cons: The cooked items at breakfast could be kept hot.
Location: This hotel is situated on a main street near the central areas, close to the tourist bus stop and with excellent transport links via city buses and me
This hotel is in an excellent location on Gran Via, a major shopping & entertainment thoroughfare and just a few metres from the Metro, so very easy access to and from the airport. Although busy the road is not too noisy, but as our room was at the back this was not an issue. There is however a traditional local indoor market behind the hotel which starts up fairly early in the morning and if you leave your window open you may occasionally just catch the aroma of fresh fish! The room was clean and comfortable and the staff efficient and helpful, though the buffet breakfast often suffered from the usual lukewarm “English breakfast” items and very average machine coffee. For a four day midweek city visit however we were quite satisfied and would happily stay there again.

Nice stay in MadridPosted May 20, 2014
Pros: Quiet, nice breakfast
Cons: Safe in my room was broken. Wi-Fi connection was bad.
The hotel is in the center of Madrid right next to Plaza de Espana metro station. So, you can take a metro from the Airport to the hotel with about 1 minute walk. The room was very small like in Rome, Italy. I didn't have good view from my room. The windows overlooked the courtyard. On the plus side it was really quiet, because Gran Via is a busy street. The breakfast buffet was nice. There was free Wi-Fi, but the Wi-Fi signal was very bad, constantly dropped off. Staff was very friendly and considerate.

3 day City break to Madrid was excellent.Posted May 2, 2014
Pros: Staff. Clean rooms. Breakfast and location.
Cons: Pillows were too soft. An extra one would have made things more comfortable. (Only issue)
The Hotel TRYP Washington was excellent. Our rooms were clean and the bedding was crisp and clean. Towels and bedding changed daily if we wanted them to be. We could have done with an extra pillow each. Staff in the Breakfast room were excellent. The breakfast was excellent also with plenty of choice. We also spoke to the reception staff who were also very helpful when we wanted directions and the number of the local to keep my daughter happy for the day and take her to the Zoo. I would certainlyrecommend this visit for families. My 15 year old daughter saw animals she had never seen before and all seemed quite happy in their extensive enclosures. I would certainly stay at this hotel again. The location of this hotel was also excellent. It was so close to shops restaurants and entertainment and a main stop for the open top bus tour. I would certainly stay here again and recommend TRYP Washingtont to friends. .

This older hotel has class.Posted Apr 1, 2014
Pros: The desk staff were EXCELLENT, some spoke English and all were pleasant and helpfull. The woman from housekeeping (sorry no name) was an absolute joy.
Cons: The WiFi was not very good for communication back home
Location: Tour the Gran Via it has everything, and take the tourist bus tour, don't miss the Prada Art gallery
The hotel is right on the Gran Via. there are lots of shops and bistros for food and drinks, so don't buy the breakfast. The metro and bus stations are 1 block away (the best way to get around).

excellent location, very comfortablePosted Mar 6, 2014
very pleased after our short break to Madrid, hotel is right in the centre and near a metro station. hotel rooms were clean and comfortable although parts of the hotel could do with a little updating. that said we didn't have any problems and we were also allowed to leave our luggage at the hotel after we checked out as our flight was in the evening.
