The Buenos Aires area features some evocative reminders of the past; every local history tour should begin with a visit to the Torre de los Ingleses and the Water Company Palace.

Head to Pacific Galleries, Patio Bullrich and Recoleta Mall to get in some retail therapy.

Sports fanatics should get tickets for nearby Estadio Libertadores de America, Avellaneda to see the Club Atletico Independiante in action. On game days follow the procession of red and navy, to the stadium, then after the full-time hooter blows, join local soccer lovers in the nearby pubs for a few post-game beers.
