A bit more of CourtesiesPosted Aug 28, 2014
Pros: Location and reasonable cleanliness of the rooms.
Cons: 1.) As mentioned above a more considerate and helpful attitude of the staff 2.)Having some limited accessories such as coffee maker in the rooms.
Location: You can explore entire mid-town and downtown NY. You are at the heart of the city.
I come from India where hotels are associated with hospitality and courtesies which every guest gets in ample measure. This does not seem to be a priority in Mayfair or whether it is a culture of the average New Yorker I really do not know. But at the end of day, being a bit pleasing and gracious with those around, whether our customer or not, can do a world of good to us. So my only suggestion to Mayfair staff is that try and be a bit more pleasant and nice with the guests many of who are as it is overawed by the bigness of New York. Your hotel will then become preferred for being reasons other than being the best and modestly clean budget hotel in midtown NY.

Great LocationPosted Aug 25, 2014
This Hotel is a Great Location for a NYC visit. In the heart of Times Square and Theater District. The Hotel is dated and is in need of a face lift. It was clean and comfortable. It worked for us we only needed a place to sleep for two nights. If you are looking for modern, this is not it.

Hotel around the corner from Times SquarePosted Aug 24, 2014
Pros: Its proximity with Times Square and metro station, friendly staff, a/c and soundproof.
Cons: Maybe price or breakfast included :)
Location: A lot of things! Numerous theaters from broadway, Times Square, bars, Radio City Hall
We only stayed a night but we enjoyed it. It is literally around the corner from Times Square. Super close from metro Station. Super friendly staff. Small room but really pretty. Has A/C and a big Tv with cable. All the people from the front desk were really helpful. Lift didn´t work properly but they helped us with the luggage. Would definetely go back

Maybe Not FairPosted Aug 15, 2014
Cramped. Elevator broken. Tumbledown. Ramshackle. You get the picture. It's cheap for a reason, but it's basically an overpriced hostel.

A place to sleep. That is it.Posted Aug 12, 2014
Cons: new carpet, fix the elevator
First I will say the bed was very comfortable. Other than that the room was just slightly larger than the bed. The hotel was pretty ragged....carpet worn to threads in main lobby and stairways. Elevator was always a gamble. I personally like staying in old historic places, but this was just plain old and run to it's limits. Oh well, it was the cheapest place we could find. But of course being where it is, nothing is very cheap.

Cheep n cheerfulPosted Aug 8, 2014
If you want cheap n cheerful half a block from Times Square then the Mayfair it is , clean room , bedding and bathroom , friendly staff .. Other than that tired and dated Decor and in need of a re-vamp and real double glazing as traffic was noisy (well you are in the centre of NYC )

Perfectly adequate accommodationsPosted Aug 4, 2014
Pros: Convenience - it is very well situated for what I planned to do. Price.
Cons: Hotel is showing it's age and could do with a little sprucing up.
I just needed a room for overnight while in NYC to go to the theater. Got a good price on a single room at the Mayfair, which met my needs - a clean, safe place to sleep and shower. The hotel is very conveniently located to the theaters, the subway and restaurants. The room and bathroom were very small but adequate; the bed was reasonably comfortable and the air conditioning worked well although it was a bit loud. Since I wasn't spending that much time in the room it met my needs. I stayed at this hotel a few times probably 5 or 6 years ago and found it very pleasant. Now it looks worn. All of the staff were very helpful.

Mayfair Hotel, New York, NYPosted Aug 1, 2014
Pros: The staff were very pleasant and accommodating.
Cons: The carpets going to the elevators were old and worn out. The lobby could look much better with some newer carpets. The bathrooms could be updated.
Location: The location of the hotel is ideal! It is walking distance to the Port Authority bus station, theaters, restaurants, & stores in the city center.
I had a very pleasant stay. Although the hotel looked quite old and the rooms were tiny, the bed was comfortable and the room, bed and linen were clean.
