Can’t beat the location. Easy walk to all the shops and restaurants and waterfront park. Pretty good continental breakfast served as well. The only issue was the parking lot paving during our stay but staff did best they could to make up for the inconvenience.

The room was right by the front door. It was not quiet. People coming and going until late at night. The dining room was right next to me also. Very loud in the early morning. Plus food smells from the dining room were prevalent. No room cleaning unless specifically requested. When you pay that much for a room, it should be cleaned daily without a special request.

Gorgeous rooms. Amazing staff breakfast was wonderful. We absolutely stay again. The only downside was parking. I have a handicap plaque and there was no reserved parking and ding a spot was very difficult.

While the units are nice, the staff are not helpful at all. I was given a room that did not match the photos of what was booked. The next morning I tried to extend my stay and the Agent had no rooms even though there are still some listed online. Please don’t rent from this inn- it is contributing to the housing crisis by hoarding several of Newburyport’s convenient apartments and forcing people to rent them in 20hr increments.

There was no discussion about other available rooms. When the guest exclaimed that Essex Street Inn was "hoarding apartments," it was explained to the guest that we have suites, not apartments, and that we do not "hoard" any of our rooms. Our total available inventory is listed online. We have provided a clean, comfortable stay for this guest in the past and are sorry for the difficulties that were experienced this time.
