Drive east from Oakridge for 32 miles (51 kilometers) to reach Waldo Lake, known for its extraordinarily clear water. Try fishing and boating on this large lake and rent equipment and amenities from one of the campgrounds surrounding it.
Just south of the lake is one of the delights of the region, Salt Creek Falls. Snap photos of this behemoth of a waterfall, with its drop of 286 feet (87 meters). Hear the roar of the water as it plunges into a pool at its base.
Find the town in the southern part of the Willamette National Forest in western Oregon. Fly to Portland International Airport and drive south for about 160 miles (260 kilometers).
