In an adjunct Church built into the museum is housed one of the holiest Orthodox icons - the Vladimir Mother of God. Apparently this was insisted upon by the Orthodox Church so that the faithful could actually venerate her--instead of just gazing upon her within plates of glass. An incredible experience--one I will never forget.
