Bad road, nice place.
Amazing property once we got settled in. Incredibly bad road, 7 miles of single lane, lots of traffic and tour busses. Actual stay was 1 kilometer away from resort shown on web site. Beautiful grounds, gracious staff, great dinner. We were one of the only customers not with a tour. Birders galore.

Everyone was so friendly and professional. Their guide, Carlos, was amazing in spotting Quetzals. So worth the early morning arrival time. Food was delicious. Internet was great, we wanted to book a second night, but could not communicate via website or what’s app. Otherwise. Excellent.

The property is situated in a quiet area from the normal hustle and bustle of the property. We liked that the parking attendant was friendly and so was the front office staff. What the hotel lacked was proper amount of blanket for the cold weather and shower that drained properly. While we were there for two nights, we tired to use the fireplace to keep ourselves warm, but the chimney was quite small and the room would quickly fill up with smoke. The drive to the property was quite arduous as the roads are not fully paved. Overall, for the price we paid and the amenities that were provided, we would not visit the property again. Overall an OK experience.

Amazing overall stay!! Staff was friendly and food was delicious (the service was a bit slow, so don’t wait until you are too hungry to go to restaurant). We went during the COVID pandemic so the slow service might have to do with that. Trails, horses, little boats, river, views, all great!!

Beautiful place.We did not have enough time to visit all the natural places that are near the hotel. It is a place to relax and enjoy nature. Spectacular food. Very cold at night.

The bed was not too great and every time you move it sounds a lot! The hot water was like on and off and hard to have it working with stable temperature. For the rest the place is super nice!T

Beds were too firm for me and my wife
The best parts of the stay were the amazing service (for example when we arrived it was raining and someone at reception came out with umbrellas for both of us), the location (close to where you can see quetzals) and the food. We had the tilapia one night and salmon another. The bird guide, Carlos we got through Juan at the lodge was outstanding. We were there in April and if was cool and we had to keep the tiny electric heater on full blast day and night to stay warm. Be sure to walk to the lodge next door to see a good variety of hummingbirds.

Great sRaffle, well maintained grounds, really need de Restaurant and large comfortable room. Can’t beat it on this strip of places in quetzal territory. Highly recommended for at least two nights.

Birdwatcher's Paradise
The hotel and restaurant both were excellent and the surroundings couldn't be more beautiful. He cabins didn't have heaters in them but they gladly provided them if you required them. I was there to find and study birds and happily found plenty of them.

Nice hotel and perfect place for relax
Beautiful place in harmony with nature. Exceptional service and fine attention in the restaurant, food and delicious desserts at reasonable price. The trails are very nice and you can see many birds. The boat on the lake is great to enjoy with partner or friends. Recommended.

This place would be a 6 ! if it supplied better hot water and better lighting.The water had only a hint of warmth over the very cold water out of the faucet, and made for very uncomfortable showers. As well, the kitchen sink has only a cold faucet, so washing dishes is impossible. As well, the interior lighting is abysmal.

Serene getaway with amazing food
We had a fantastic stay here and we were really impressed with the service and hospitality of the staff. The cabins offered a serene retreat in what I call the 'Shire' of Costa Rica. Also, the meals offered were affordable, fresh, filling, and scrumptious. We will definitely stay here again!

Lovely cabins overlooking the pond. Rooms were spacious and clean. Very good prices at the restaurant. Close to the trail to the waterfall, and close to Savegre resort for happy hour.

Affordable lodgings and meals in Sevegre
On our previous list to San Gerardo de Dota we stayed at the bird watcher's mega, Sevegre Lodge. They were full the dates of our return so we booked into the much more modest Suenos del Bosques next door. The bungalow were well appointed and clean. The beds were comfortable. The location next to the river is every bit as nice as Sevegre Lodge. The room rates are about 1/3 less and the meals are about 1/2 as expensive. Food is straight forward but tasty and portions are more than adequate. And, there is a path trough the woods to Sevegre so we were able to take advantage of the many bird feeders maintained there. Overall, very satisfied.

Great for birding
Spent 2 nights for 1 full day of birding and was happy overall. As others have said no one spoke English, but I speak enough Spanish that it was not a problem. Free breakfast was excellent, they don't serve lunch, and dinner, choice of trout or chicken including drink and dessert also excellent and half the price of the buffets at the Trogon or Savegre lodges.

Perfect getaway. Juan the owner was everywhere and helpful in everything! Food in restaurant excellent quality and extremely reasonable. Walk next door to Savegre Lodge for Happy Hour and you have the best of both worlds.

La randonnée autours de l hôtel vaut d y passer une heure .Undétail Il a fait 10 degrés celcius la nuit ca change des températures de bord de mer. Heureusement le chauffage d appoint est fourni et eau chaude à volonté ‘

Muy agradable las habitaciones y la zona. Ya he estado en unos cinco ocasiones en el lugar. En esta ocasión la habitación era una cabaña, bien equipada. Estaba bien limpia. Sábanas, cobijas, paños limpios. Dos observaciones: un sofá con una rotura en la tela. Al ingresar la cabaña olía un poco a humedad. Servicio amable. Excelente el desayuno.

Cumple las expectativas. Ambiente seguro y tranquilo. Orden y limpieza en las habitaciones. Dentro del hotel hay senderos, cascada, puente colgante, lago, acceso al río, lo cual es muy ventajoso. Precioso el jardín y bellísimas las suculentas. La comida es deliciosa y las porciones generosas. Los bizcochitos y el pancito de cortesía en el desayuno fueron la cereza del pastel. Definitivamente lo recomiendo.

Loved our stay at Sueños del Bosque! The rooms and the common areas were super clean, all the waiters and cleaning ladies were wearing masks, you have to wash your hands before entering the restaurant, everything felt very safe. The lake is lovely, the weather is great to get cozy, and the river is heard from the cabins which is great to rest and relax. There are several easy walks you can do surrounded by trees and mountains that will help you recharge. Highly recommended!

El lugar el precioso, el lago y los jardines inclusive. Las dos habitaciones que tienen chimenea no están frente al lago ni tienen vista a este (detalle que no se especifica a la hora de visualizar las mismas), además que la chimenea está en una esquina de la habitación (no en el medio) y el cuarto tiene un techo muy alto, es difícil calentarlo con una pequeña chimenea en esas condiciones. El baño no es muy bonito y es poco espacioso, no hay donde poner las cosas. El agua apenas sale caliente y es con un flujo de agua bajo, si se sube un poquito el volumen de agua entonces sale fría.
