Find some of Phu Quoc’s most attractive features along the sun-soaked coastline of Long Beach. This aptly named expanse of pristine sand stretches for about 12 miles (20 kilometers) down the island’s western coast, between the mouth of the Duong Dong River and the city of An Thoi. Share a cool drink on the promenade at Duong Dong, enjoy the luxuries of a world-class resort or relax in the shade with a beach massage.
This popular beach is one of the island’s most developed areas, particularly at its northern end where resorts and tourist hubs are closest to the bustle of Duong Dong. This, however, does not detract from the area’s natural beauty, which includes views out onto aquamarine seas and coastline decorated with rocky outcrops. Rent a recliner from one of the beach resorts and stretch out in the sun or bring a towel and find your own patch of warm sand.
Cool off with a swim in the temperate Gulf of Thailand. Bring a mask and snorkel and spot tiny fish darting above the sea floor. After a swim, visit the northern end of the beach for its cafés and restaurants where you can chat with locals or savor a drink with a view of the beach and its colorful umbrellas dotted around.
For a satisfying experience along the coast, take a beach hike toward the southernmost point and back. Bamboo stands provide drinks along the way however, you should also bring your own water.
After a walk, recharge your muscles with a beach massage. Be careful to negotiate the price for a specific massage to avoid unexpected expenses added to your bill.
In the evenings, travel north to watch a beachside sunset at the Cau temple and then head to the lively Dinh Cau markets for a seafood dinner.
Walk to the very northern parts of Long Beach from Duong Dong on foot in less than 1 hour. The beach’s southern areas can also be reached by motorbike or taxi, though taxis can be costly.
