I was really wanting to love this place. Planned a weekend getaway to unplug, explore ONP and relax. The area is gorgeous. The lodge is really neat - loved it’s history.
BUT…The room (fireplace room) was so bad. It wasn’t very clean, there were no complimentary bathroom products, the bed had no give and felt like the cheapest of the cheap mattresses. There was no phone if you needed to call front desk (and we didn’t have service). No free internet (needed it to look up our explorative destinations in ONP). We were hoping for quiet, the rooms are supposed to be geared towards couples. First night was OK - we were in a connecting room so we heard everything from our neighbors. The second night, in addition to that issue, the guests above us had a baby/toddler. It was nearly unbearable. My recommendation, get an upper level room without a connecting door or try the more contemporary “Lakeside” rooms, maybe they would be better.
We at one meal at the lodge, $137 - dinner for two and two old fashioneds. Breakfast would have been about the same, so we opted for the store a mile up the road to grab snacks to satisfy us for the day.
