Overall not that nice, below average in terms of cleanliness and service. Overpriced for what you get, which is basically nothing, and regreted it even more when I found out much better hotels and apartments in the area at a lower price.

A Delightful Family Run Hotel
We were warmly welcomed by our host who showed us to one of the cleanest most well-maintained rooms we've ever stayed in in Greece. Balcony with proper chairs and table...washing line to dry you wet towels. Kettle etc in room. Everything you'd expect and more. We were told we could book breakfast or dinner with them if we wanted. We went out for an explore for the afternoon. When we came back and sat by the beautifully kept pool (the family are constantly lifting out petals and leaves) we were given home grown eating grapes to enjoy and then a meze plate of fried pumpkin which was delicious so we decided to book breakfast it's €7. After a very comfortable nights sleep we were greeted warmly at breakfast and directed to a simply amazing help yourself spread....there were eggs, bacon some unbelievably delicious sausage then about 10 different home made cakes and pastries, yoghurt, honey (their own!) Cheeses, croissants, bread (home made again) then jewel in the crown...the home made jam! We were told that she uses their honey to make it rather than sugar. It was outstanding! Tea, coffee and juices all available too. We barrel rolled ourselves off to the beach for the day after booking dinner with them which we were told was a meze bbq ...it didn't disappoint! Bread, Greek Salad, tzatziki and a plate of fabulous charcoal cooked meat & some fried potatoes then home made honey themed pastries for dessert...just wonderful! This is €15 pp A delightful example of Cretan Hospitality.

The property was a bit run down, wifi didn't work well and other than a beautiful beach walking distance there wasn't much to do without a car. Overall, not expensive.

Incredibly friendly service
My 10 stay with my 2 children was the happiest time I’ve ever stayed in a hotel. We were made to feel so welcomed by the owners. They went above and beyond to do bings for us. We loved the pool and the food was delishous. I would thoroughly recommend staying here. My kids were very happy and made may new friends. I felt it was a very safe and friendly place to stay. The hotel was very clean and comfortable. The location is perfect for visiting all the impressive sights the south of Crete has to offer. My stay in Crete has been for 5 weeks this summer and the south I found is the most beautiful. A huge thank you to The Sunrise Hotel for making my stay so special.

The breakfast is amazing. Dinner if you choose to dine in, is very good. Fresh different dishes available everyday, using many home grown ingredients. Wine is superb. Location to the beach is an added bonus. Family run business.

Affordable basic accommodation for family w/ kids
Very nice beach, basic accommodation -- hotel is definitely not three stars, but on the other hand it is clean and affordable. "Studio" was an irregularly-shaped room with a kitchenette. Isolated location. Breakfast buffet was supposed to be great according to earlier reviews, but it was not - low-quality cheese and luncheon meat.

Great Food and atmosphere
it was a lovely remote location Southern Crete. The atmosphere in the hotel was very welcoming and friendly - a small family run unit, providing excellent breakfasts and beautifully cooked evening meals were available every evening if desired. The service and cleanliness was good. The hotel itself fairly basic and a little 'tired' but was made up for by the location, general service and care of the owners.

Remote location offers peace and quiet vs crowded tourist areas. Beach is 100m walk; nice and secluded; not overcrowded; clear waters; bring swim shoes for walking, many rocks in the water; makes walking difficult; 2 caves, occupied by wanderers. Several “super market” and restaurants within 16km. Near-by small towns like Sellia has amazing character and charm. Plakias is the nearest tourist resort. It offers ATM, gas station, and tourist attractions. DO NOT buy souvenirs from the overpriced "Forum". Go to Chania, Rethymnon, or Iraklion (Heraklion) markets, much better and worth the 1-2 hour drive. Manolia is wonderful. Whatever request, she will help. I requested a special dinner for anniversary and had great Greek BBQ grilled with lamb, pork ribs, and chicken. Other guests celebrated with us. Decorated our room with flowers and candles; An experience to remember. Breakfast included. Homemade wine; mild to the taste; adds a flavor of local goodness. Mountains make it remote and beauty. Many curves and turns on road. Use caution; one mistake and over the cliffs you go. Standard rooms are small with fridge; no kitchenette. Suites have kitchenettes. Bathroom is small and the shower area can look better. Mattresses are thin. We asked for comforters to make the bed softer. No iron or hairdryer. If we needed it, it would have been provided Breakfast: keep the warm food warmer. Eggs and ham go cold when we get to it. Overall: I would definitely consider staying here again.

Wonderful break. Brilliant service.
An excellent family-run hotel. We were made very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. A stunning location with fabulous views - from every angle. Quite quiet and remote, which was just what we wanted, but you definitely need a car.

La patronne et son fils nous ont bien accueillis. Mais l'appartement est à rafraîchir (mobilier ancien). Il est en revanche très bien équipé. Le wifi fonctionne très mal.

L'établissement est situé à environ 60 mètres de la première plage, nombreuses Taverna à proximité avant un excellent rapport qualité-prix. Le restaurant de l'hôtel est très bien, ambiance familiale, accueil chaleureux. L'ensemble est un peu défraîchi mais en cours de rénovation, ce qui donne un ensemble moyen. Le petit-déjeuner est copieux, avec des saveurs locales.

Anlage nicht empfehlenswert
die Anlage ist in den Jahren gekommen - Poollandschaft nicht einladend - kein Vergleich zu den Bildern im Internet. Nach dem ersten, nicht guten, Essen am Abend, haben wir dies nach Rückfrage der Wirtin geäussert und bekam darauf hin Restaurantverbot. Auch das Frühstück wurde uns für den gesamten Aufenthalt verweigert! Obwohl wir nur nett die Frage der Wirtin ehrlich geantwortet haben. Im übrigen waren fast nie Gäste im Restaurant. Das Studio war sehr einfach aber akzeptabel.

Buon rapporto qualità prezzo, ma niente di eccez.
Hotel vicinissimo alla splendida e tranquilla baia di Kato Rodakino. Sfortunatamente, nonostante la pulizia della camera, servizi basici come TV e aria condizionata non funzionavano correttamente. Colazione inclusa nel prezzo ma sicuramente migliorabile. Nel complesso, un hotel senza pretese dal buon rapporto qualità prezzo, ma se cercate un posto dove sia un vero piacere anche dormire, meglio trovare altro.

Raczej nie. Hotel zdecydowanie zbyt drogi w stosunku do jego jakości. Błędy w rezerwacji. Apartament duży, ale niezbyt czysty. Okresowe braki ciepłej wody. Studio śmierdzi stęchlizną, szczególnie w szafie, szafkach i lodówce. Basen mały i niezbyt czysty. W menu w ogóle nie ma ryb, mimo że z hotelu jest 100 m do morza i 200 m do domu lokalnego rybaka.

Naturnahes Abschalten im familiär geführten Haus
Für Naturfreunde und Wanderer die Ruhe lieben ist das Hotel ideal. Wer Trubel und Diskotheken oder 5 Sterne Ambiente erwartet ist hier aber falsch. Wir fanden unseren Aufenthalt angenehm, alles war sauber. Die Betreiber geben sich wirklich alle erdenkliche Mühe den Gast zufrieden zu stellen. Pool ist sauber, Frühstück samt frischgepresstem Orangensaft ist völlig in Ordnung, alles vorhanden was man so braucht. Insider Tipps zur Umgebung ( Badebuchten usw.) gibts natürlich auch. Mietwagen ist sehr Empfehlenswert!

Habiamos reservado en el Hotel Sunrise. Y llegamos y nos dicen que estan completos y que nos rehubican em otro edificio a 100 metros... nos quesamos flipando. Ademas este segundo "Hotel" dejaba mucho que desear.

This is the most authentic we tried during our trip around the Greek islands. Manolia snd her husband, running this place, made it very personal and somehow we felt part of their family. One day Manolia made dinner only for us and her family and another day we had their delicious barbecue together with some of the other hotel guests. We arrived quite late the first evening and had difficulties in finding the way to the hotel. But over the phone Manolia guided us safely to the hotel and stayed up until we arrived quite late around 11:30 pm. She clearly walks the extra mile for her guests! We recommend the hotel for families with small kids being used to noise from many kids at the same time (one evening there was approx. 15 children having fun in the little pool)

petit établissement autour d'une piscine
Nous rentrons de Crète et cet hôtel bien que correct ne nous a pas emballé, les chambres donnent sur la piscine et la salle de restauration aussi, tout est riquiqui autour de cette piscine, une fois baigné, on a qu'une envie c'est de rentrer dans sa chambre et encore si celle-ci n'est pas au rez-de-chaussée sur la piscine... pas super et la patronne un peu trop militaire à notre goût..

Nice Family Hotel, Between Plakias and Fragokastello

The perfect choice to enjoy calm vacations
We stayed as a family with 3 children and had a marvelous stay in the hotel which is located in the very calm area of Korakas Beach. Nice beach (mixture of sand and small stones), no real village, just a few houses with apartments, few taverns, a really nice beach bar and the hotel. The perfect place to be abroad of tourism and enjoy the wonderful landscape of Southern Crete. Roads have a lot of serpentines which limits thee distance of your potential day trips. But Plakias, Frangokastello, Preveli and even Phaistos and Rethymnon are in reach. Sunrise is a small hotel with appr. 15 rooms/appartments. The rating of 2.5 stars is absolutely correct, it is not luxurious, but solid quality and very nice, friendly and owners/staff. Lovely pool with wonderful palm trees. We stayed in one of the apartments on the upper floor. The room was spacey, nicely furnished, very clean and equipment working fine. We had a marvelous view on the sea from our roof terrace. Food was local, original Cretan kitchen, many home made products, breakfast included, several days a week BBQ. For the other days, many taverns around as an alternative, going out for dinner is always a good deal in Crete, hard to cook it yourself for the same money. Guest in the hotel a really international mix from Germany, Italy, France, Russia, Serbia, Greece. Very friendly, calm atmosphere. Finally to say, we absolutely recommend this hotel for a family stay.
