The hotel was perfectly adequate for our requirements, as an overnight stay for a big gig at the Principality Stadium. Our main concern was that the hotel appeared under-staffed. The staff we met were as helpful as they could be, but were trying to manage reception and the bar at a busy check-in time.

We had a lovely couple of nights at the Bear Hotel. Room was well appointed and spotlessly clean. Only very slight negative on room, was that on our first night, we could only get luke-warm water from the shower. Ate in the restaurant and meal was good quality overall. Service in restaurant was a little slow and lacking some attention to detail but pleasant all the same. Will happily return to stay here again, and plan to do so.

First the poor points- executive room booked - shower door missing led to water over bathroom floor, poor workmanship of not finishing the sealing of the shower control. No towel rail to dry towels. Glass shard in shower which I stepped on and it embedded in my foot. Shower tray dirty not been cleaned properly. Bedroom floor not hoovered well as found a very large needle which was waiting to be stepped on. Little things like this leave an impression of not really caring. Housekeeping need to raise their game as I’m not sure I’d return. Positives- staff were great especially when the issues of glass, needles and poor cleanliness were raised. Bar staff were great nice range of bar meals and good selection of drinks. Overall I feel standards in some areas have slipped and that’s a shame.

Great hotel other than the room was hot and no AC to cool the room. It must have been 25c in there. The windows are locked shut so you cant open them. Boiled in that room last night. Other than that fantastic stay.

Charging extra for parking now is a chinsy change, it used to be free. I was offered a complimentary drink if I offered up my name and email address. I would get an email to present to the barman. I was not told I would have to give up personal information and join the hotel affinity club. I thoroughly dislike this bait and switch tactic. Either you give a complimentary drink freely or forget it. We only got one key which also operates the lights so I sat in the dark while my partner went out for a few minutes. I have stayed here before but this visit was not up to my expectations. And I would so like it if hotels ended their love of duvets, they are too hot and leave one with no options. This visit left room for improvement.
