Built in 1962 and "looks good for its age"Posted Mar 4, 2014
Pros: Local bus (trolley) transportation is a few steps away from the front door.
Cons: Update and fix the bathrooms. The heat exchanger does not provide much heat.
Location: Gillermo's restaurant 2 blocks away is a real gem. Great Italian food!
While located near the River Walk, it is about a mile+ to get to anything interesting. We did not have our coffee service replenished after the first day unless we tracked down housekeeping. The room was dusty. One day they were short of towels and we did not get clean towels until late afternoon. The hallway carpeting is dingy and dirty. The bathroom had paint splatters all over the wall paper. The molding in the bathroom was deteriorating. The wall paper itself was parting at the seems. Amenities like the snack bar and the breakfast lounge are overpriced.

Good Room HeatingPosted Mar 4, 2014
Pros: nice clean surroundings
Cons: bar meal range
Location: Alamo and Riverwalk but nothing much else
We stayed here in early February 2014 during an unexpected cold snap. We woke up on the first day expecting temperatures to be around 70 degrees to find they were an unusual minus 2 !!! The hotel itself is lovely and the staff really helpful. Like a lot of hotels in the US it doesn't do evening meals or lunches but the Tiki Bar offers snacks. My only negative comment would be that I would like to see a greater range of bar snack meals available as it was too cold to go hunting for somewhere to eat at night however they do allow fast food delivery to your room from outside establishments. The warmest place in the hotel was our room which had excellent heating that we could control. I am only sorry that we could not enjoy this hotels facilities to the full due to the extreme weather. Would definitely use this hotel again if I had to return to San Antonio.

Nice, but needs updating...Posted Mar 3, 2014
Cons: Being an Interior Designer, myself, for 19 + years, I feel like the hotel could use a little better updating.
It was a nice hotel. From the preview through Expedia, we thought it was 'on' the Riverwalk and not so far from it. Was a little too far to be within 'walking distance' for a night out on the town! Hotel Staff were very curtious and kind. Room was clean, beds were a-ok. 3.5 rating!
Unpleasant StayPosted Feb 25, 2014
Pros: The Miami style vibe was pretty cool, although it seemed very out dated.
Cons: Everything. This hotel needs to be on Hotel Impossible Remodels!
Location: Not a good Local!
Looks were deceiving on internet site. No fridge or microwave in rooms so we were given a HANDICAP room which had a view of the top of a roof and construction. Room was not clean and had a stagnant smell. We reserved a King room and got a Queen. We were way to far from any of the action on the Riverwalk and had to walk for 25 minutes to get there. Parking was horrible! we paid $18 xtra for parking and had NO valet and had to fight for a spot in a detached lot that had NO security! Hotel security was never seen while we were there. We checked out the next morning and went to a way nicer Hotel.

A weekend honeymoonPosted Feb 19, 2014
Very friendly and clean room. I liked the expresso cafe, good prices for lattes and snacks. Restaurant was good and included drinks. We had a nice view of the river walk out our window. Nice walk to shopping or catch rio taxi at hotel to other sites was easy. It was winter so pool was not used but it looked nice.

Not a great place.Posted Feb 7, 2014
Pros: The folks in the front desk
Cons: A lot....don't know where to start.
Location: Nothing much to speak about.
The location is far away from city attractions. No restaurants close-by. No food in hotel restaurant after 10PM. Porous rooms as noise from adjacent rooms is loud and clear.
