Just an overnight

Posted Sep 2, 2014
This was just an overnight our way home from Virginia via motorcycle and it was half-way point. Weather had been hot so wanted a hotel with pool...unfortunately, due to wedding, the pool was closed. However, it's central; rooms were clean and spacious, continental breakfast was good (sausages, eggs, biscuits/gravy, waffles, etc) so not your normal cold cereals and danish. Very nice ambiance. It was also Sunday on a long weekend, so even though central - there wasn't much happening. Didn't try the dining room, so can't speak to other food.

A Welcoming Environment

Posted Aug 23, 2014
Pros: Friendly Staff, Very Reasonable Prices, Great Housekeeping, Free Breakfast and Wi-Fi
Location: There were Theaters, Rite-Aid, Coffee Shops and Food places, plus other stores for special interests
The hotel staff were so friendly and welcoming that I had no trouble at all asking them if I needed anything. The housekeeping were prompt and on time each morning and I always came back to the room being immaculate. The room was in excellent condition nothing was broken or out of place and I found my stay to be quite peaceful and enjoying. The location of the hotel was right by the square which is a really good location for Wilkes-Barre. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a great priced hotel with a friendly environment.

Pros: Clean, rooms well apointed, ez wifi, ez in and out of parking lot. The hotel worked smoothly.
Cons: Not much.
Location: The hotel is downtown, so it can be a bit noisy with traffic, and general noise etc.
Easy in, and easy out. Convenient. Clean, rooms were above average. I would stay there again. Note that the hotel is downtown so traffic noise did occur.

Pros: -Proximity to Kirby Performing Arts Center. -Decent Price. -Included breakfast. -Easy parking. -Has a fitness center and pool.
Cons: -Smiles all around. -Air out the room sometime. -Get rid of the 2nd floor hallway vortex.
Location: Around the corner from Kirby Performing Arts Center. The restaurant next to Kirby was good - margaritas were awesome. The town is pretty much dead.
I wanted to see a show at the Kirby Performing Arts Center (1 minute walking distance away), so I decided to buy tickets and book an overnight at this Best Western. It was convenient - as I said, the theatre is right around the corner and the restaurant, right next to that. And that's about all this city has to offer tourists. Anyway, there was nothing wrong with the hotel per se. But coming from Queens, NY, I thought the staff would have been friendlier in a small Pennsylvania city. Don't know why I thought that, it's just that you hear about how people are friendlier in other places. I don't think I ever saw any of the staff smile, or take an interest in my presence while I was there. It was cut and dry check in. Cut and dry check out. Inquiries were responded to. Maybe someone should tell them that it's called the "hospitality" industry. When I got up, the second floor hallway to the right presented itself as if it were a vortex of some sort. I don't know if it's because the ceiling is low or the lighting is off or the carpet pattern is just so, but I got dizzy every time I walked down the hallway towards my room. The room was fine, though a little musty, and with a rotten view of the roof. The room needed a little airing, but was fine, nonetheless. The included breakfast was fine: eggs, bacon, cereal, a waffle iron, etc. Overall, I would stay there again if I were to go see a show at the Kirby Center, but without higher expectations.
