My corner room with work station is awesome!!! Great view, clean and lots of light. The bathroom is awesome with great lighting to apply makeup. So many hotels are dim and dark, but not this one. Its lovely. But the BEST thing about this hotel is Julie Som. This woman never seems to sleep. Notbing is too much trouble, Julie knew i had a question to ask before i did. What an amazing asset to have here at the hotel. She is a diamond. Thank you Julie for all your assistance whilst we were here.

Stayed in club room which was of satisfying condition. Staff helpful, breakfast was good. Only area of improvement is to enforce non smoking areas within hotel - we ate at the Chinese restaurant only to have cigarette smoke wafting in, very unpleasant.

Unimpressed with the surrounding areas of Putuo
We had a malfunctioning air conditioning system in our room and it made our comfort in the room very difficult. However, the worst thing about our stay was the seemingly depressing look of the surrounding area of Putuo. I only chose this area to be nearer to the SAIC for the F1 Grand Prix, but perhaps this was a mistake!

Problem with AC - room temp can only go fine but up (need to turn off) Front desk continued to type and didn’t look at you when talking to you! Front desk gave wrong info about restaurant hours! The hotel is not located in the center of Shanghai but you can easily access to the subway and get to the center. The price is very reasonable. There are more food choices available, in the hotel or nearby market.

Very comfortable hotel with a great breakfast buffet. The hotel is right on the metro line which is nice. We wanted to go to the Bund and it was a little far for that.

One really annoying thing
Everything was good - except, some people in China still smoke in the rooms, and it gets through into the ventilation system and I woke up one morning smelling cigarette smoke in my room. That was NOT ok.

Great hotel
Excellent hotel. Metro and shopping mall access from the basement level is a huge plus. A little off the city center but very comfortable stay makes you forget about it

I Was overcharged and location is far from city
Hotel policy says we can change the reservation with no penalty. When I noticed I reserved one day ahead of arrival (because of time difference between China and USA) I called and said I will be arriving at 28th not 27th, they cancelled my old reservation and made new reservation but without any discount so I paid almost same money but for one day less. the point is they say you can change without any penalty but they fail to say on new reservation you have to pay hotels more expensive rate. When I arrived at the hotel I noticed somehow my room was reserved for occupancy of two (it is a default in the reservation) even though the only gave me one key but the catch was they were charging me roughly $15.00 more a day for two breakfast, and when I complained in they say sorry but that is your problem. This is not the first time I have been scammed but I kind of left my guard down since I thought this is Marriott cooperation and did not think they get so down and dirty for $150.00 : but they are just another hustler in a nicer cloth.

Not a very friendly neighborhood for someone who doesn’t speK the language. Most shops and restaurants are not geared for foreign tourist

Great, a bit far from center but MRT is downstairs
The hotel is located in the edge of the city center. So be prepared to take MRT to the center. The MRT is just downstairs. Really convenient. The staffs are really good and friendly. This is the only 5 star service I had in China. The breakfast in both club lounge and downstairs are good. But do expect some crowds in the main restaurant.
