Harstene Island Beach House
The description of the house if very deceptive. Even using a 4 wheel drive vehicle will not get you to the garage on this house. No way to turn around. So parking is up and far away from the house. Out side ground around the house was very weedy. Easy access to beach front was actually treacherous. Steep steps down and steep steps back up to house. There is a grounds keeper living in the basement of this house so don't know how this meets what Vrbo is advertising. Can't say that staying at this house was good and don't recommend that it.

Gorgeous view!
Gorgeous view! Wonderful location! We had a really good time with our friends and dogs walking at the beach. But One thing that made us disappointed is that only one shower was available, even there are two Bathrooms.

When we arrived the electricity was out and the men in our group found the breaker box and that fixed the problem. The master bedroom toilet didn’t work. We bought a snake thing and unclogged the toilet it was better after that. The house is big very rustic and lots of fun Antiques with lots of lamps. Good place for a big family

I wish I would have read reviews prior to making reservations.
Very outdated. Beds were horrible. There was not enough hot water to take 2 showers. The floor under the master bath toilet was rotten and felt like you were going to fall through the floor, and it tipped to the left side. No light bulbs in the upstairs lamps. The stained glass light above kitchen table had exposed wires. Smoke alarm in master bedroom was hanging from the ceiling.

Rustic escape with an amazing view
Perfect getaway for a much needed holiday disconnect. The house is stunning with a well-stocked kitchen (remember to bring your own food, stores a bit of a haul). Great touch with the large selection of movies and games. Enjoyed the wood stove (took some time to find some good dry wood nearby) and the pup loved to cozy up to the fireplace.

it is a beautiful location and the house is so cute, love the old style décor, if one thing i must say, is to invest in some mattresses , other than that we had a very enjoyable weekend

Location with view of water and path down to water was great. Deck was great. All of the beds were horribly uncomfortable, and the kitchen was not well-stocked with pans - absolutely no sheet pans to be found. I would like to say we would stay here again, but not with how horrible the beds were.

The property is difficult to enter. The driveway is unkempt and one has to park off the road. Entry is through the garage only. The house is very dirty.

Zero stars. Terrible communication.
Unable to travel due to weather conditions. Travel advisory said it was impossible to go to the location of the house. Vacasa decided to keep my money- all of it, even cleaning fees, that I presume they didn't have to clean after nobody was able to travel to stay. I have waited for hours on the phone to talk to someone from Vacasa. Then I waited over 1 hr to talk to VRBO on the phone. Made these travel plans within 14:days of leaving for trip only to find out there was a storm in the area. Great to hear, that you have a policy protecting you from doing the right thing by changing dates or reimbursing money spent by me and 5 other people who also didn't want to get stuck in a storm at your location. Lesson learned here. I don't expect an email back or a phone call since it has been over a week since I contacted this business about the storm warning and inability to travel through email. We're all so burnt on the experience with your company we won't book again through you, VRBO, or home away. 6;professionals in healthcare and education, not willing to use your services. Thank you for the eye opener about your business. Sincerely. Wow. This is just a complaint, send it to your complaint Dept. Send me no more emails. I'm thinking you steal money without any recourse for the consumer. Enjoy the $723 of Ill gotten gains.

cute, but not the best
this was an interesting home. we had a group of 7 and it was kinda hard to function. we showed up and the code that was given wasn't to open the house but the garage door and we had to find the code to open the house inside the garage written on a wall. the location is very pretty but the parking is difficult.. there is a third layer to the home that is unfinished and is a little creepy. the hot water runs out super fast, after 10-15 min or so. also, only one of the bathrooms has a shower head so it was cramped to get everyone clean in one day. there is plenty to eat off of, i would bring your own pots and pans though, not enough to cook on. upstairs in one of the loft rooms, there is a HUGE hole that is covered with furniture. there is space heaters and wall heaters too but we had to go downstairs to the unfinished third floor to flip the breaker when we had both space heaters going, ended up burning through my charger and melting it. there is plenty of towels and they proved some soap. i wouldnt say it is workththe money we spent but we did have a good time.

The view was nice. House was not clean when we arrived. We called property management to have someone come and clean and nobody arrived. There was random varment dropping’s in the house. And entering through the garage that was musty and dirty was not a good impression. For all the extra charges we paid, it was not worth paying more than double the nightly quote.for 2 nights. Won’t stay there again

I do not usually write reviews but i feel others should know about this property. The listing is deceiving. There are numerous extra charges which double if not close to triple the price per night. Look at all the fine details in the billing before reserving this place. When first arriving here, the only entrance is through the garage. Now the place is a log cabin by water surrounded by trees. There are going to be bugs around, cant stop that. But once we opened that garage door, it was impossible to reach the entrance door without getting smothered by cobwebs. There obviously was little to no attempt to manage/control the bug problem in the garage. We started to unload everything in the cabin and when going to one of the bathrooms, there was a decent sized spider in the bathtub. Its a log cabin by water surrounded by trees. There are going to be your occasional bugs. We took care of the spider and went to bed. Woke up the next day to another decent sized spider above me on the ceiling. Took care of it and went on with our day. Things just got worse from there. Took a detailed tour of the place. There were mouse droppings inside the house and outside on the porch, traps in plain site, and more decent sized spiders. We had to purchase bug spray to deal with the situation. There are things that can be done to help control bugs in a location like that. It didnt seem anything was being done to manage that situation though. Definitely not worth 350/night.
