The good parts are the view over the lake towards the island and the nightly dinners. Unfortunately I don't eat breakfast. Staff are very nice.
The negatives were in the room. The toilet was across the hall. In other Onsen type hotels, although 'shared bathroom' may be specified but the toilet had been inside. During the night you put on your yukata, change slippers, a bit of a trip.there is no light switch near the bed which makes it even more treacherous, so go easy on the sake before bedtime. The room has a wash basin, but not even a shelf to put your things on, so it's searching every morning through the toilet bag for the toothbrush. There should ne more glasses/cups and there was neither tea nor coffee nor bottled water provided (hence the shortage of crockery?). Perhaps I could have asked the service staff, but I bought my own orange juice and instant coffee (kettle was provided). Finally, there could be more powerpoints, especially in more convenient spots, such as near the table or near the bed. I mention all this mainly because for the price I would expect these things. I love Ryokan rooms, but as they have no luxury as such, convenience is the important thing.
